+Shiva .S. Yup. Luckily, it's not that bad here in Australia as the fines are pretty high as well as the addional costs like legal, compensation and other costs. However, we do still have a really bad jail time system here as you can do the worst thing ever with a whole non-parole period of 25 years and jail time of life yet still go out as a free man/woman in 6-12 months. Although, if you do, do something really horrendous to an animal (more specifically a dog) you will stay in jail for a large portion of your life.

And what about that guy, Alex Crain who shot his parents dead at the age of 14 in December, 2010? He knew what he had done, but had no actual reason why he killed his parents. He instantly called 911 and told the dispatcher while on the edge of crying: "I was sleeping and the next thing I knew I had a gun in my hand and my parents were on the ground." He was on the phone with the dispatcher for 16 more minutes, telling that he had no serious fights or arguments with his parents, and that they caused no harm for him. When the police arrived to his house, and arrested him, he kept saying that he was sorry. He was sentenced for 20 years as an adult.

darkball31 life sentences can be like 25 years+ so it depends on how much time the person has to do

Basically the amount of time needed to be served until a person can go up for parole is a determined by how much time is sentenced, I.e. longer sentences mean more time needs to be served before a person can be put up for parole. A life sentence with parole is about 20-25 years, so by adding multiple life sentences or more time in general means people who shouldn't get out won't.

I went to Southwood middle which is where Michael Hernandez killed Jamie Gough. They were friends. It was literally my first week starting at that school. New identities aren't always given to criminals. New identities are granted to both criminals and victims, basically a new way of starting life so their history is hidden and they can live their lives safe

Mathew honestly thank you for mentioning Jon Venables and Robert Thompson in your video. A lot of people dismiss those kids like what they did was soft play, and it angers me. I am a resident in Crosby, Liverpool which is a 5mins drive from Bootle New Strand Shopping Centre and anyone mentions the 2 murderers' names, everyone spits on them. Ruuney sure and would you like to pay the taxes to keep their asses fed and sheltered for all of their life? Frankly it wouldn't always work well with that model since you add in other crimes and try and put everyone of them into prisons that are already overflowing. Life sentences for every murderer just isn't a system that can work financially.

Random Guy - Too damn pricey. It costs a fortune to execute someone. You could keep dozens of people in prison for life without parole for the same cost as executing a single person. Plus there have been an alarmingly high number of exonerations of people on death row- enough so that I'd rather be cautious and simply go with life in prison with no chance of parole.
