Unless you count glitches (which you should not), I would choose FF6's Lightbringer/Illumina. - has the maximum 255 Attack Power - has auto crits - randomly casts Holy/Pearl in addition to the main attack - Holy/Pearl ALSO auto crits (and thus is an ABSURDLY strong magic spell!) - has perfect hit rate and so never misses - has long range, so you can attack from the back row without any damage penalty - even it's holy/pearl castings don't take a damage hit in the back row (as other weapon's spellcasts do) - enables runic (very important in some high difficulty mods or LLGs) - it's damage can be boosted by trance/berserk (unlinke Atma Weapon) - offers among the best stat boosts to vigor/strength, speed, magic power and stamina - also boots evasion AND magic black by 50% (highest stat boosts in the game), which can make you an almost intouchable god! : D

Disc 1 Lionheart in FFVIII absolutely breaks the game. For that reason alone, Lionheart should be rated higher. And that’s without getting the other Ultimate weapons before the end of Disc 1. You can get almost all of them except for Irvine’s.

So the order felt all over the place but very good choices listed. Also would have included Wakka's ultimate weapon from FF10 as it makes him one of the honestly far more powerful than Yuna with Nirvana due to the multi hit function of his Limit Break. Also Deathbringer isn't always dark element while also having the one hit KO effect, whereas for Lightbringer if fighting light element opponents will be essentially useless and Deathbringer can still harm all enemies equally while also having the chance of the one hit KO

It's not a FF game, but I love the Dreamseeker from Chrono Trigger. A sword literally crafted from dreams with 90% critical hit rate is nothing to sneeze at.

Aye, it takes an insane amount of kills and they have to be finished by Vincent. But, yeah, eventually with a hero drink or two it can cause the overflow glitch and one-shot nearly everything in the game

how about the secret and powerful weapon of seitengrat in final fantasy xii the zodiac age,because of its high attack speed,highest attack in the game and longest range in the game,i think its the most powerful weapon in the franchise plus you can get it early in the game without need to fight hard boss,and there is no limit how many you can have

Honorable mentions for me would be FFII Firions blood sword which is just iconic on him and FFV Dancer's knife which basically allowed my characters to have a 3rd class with sword dance doing insane damage.

I think Sequencer from Final Fantasy Tactics A2 at least deserves an honorable mention. It can grow stronger like Death Penalty, it's only really held back by being a knight sword, so close range and only a handful of jobs can use it, and it only gets stronger when you get an opportunity command, so entirely luck based. However, it's available earlier and will still likely already be your strongest weapon. Also, you only have 50 levels to raise your stats in Tactics as opposed to the usual 99, so Sequencer is probably the only way you're going to break 100 damage with a normal, non-elemental attack.

If I remember right, Yuna's ultimate weapon, Nirvana, is laughably easy to obtain. Have her go to Lulu's Sphere Grid after she gains Holy and you have a recipe for a supped up mage that can demolish anything.

In a casual playthrough, Death Penalty is rather pitiful. But with an insane grind, it literally breaks the game (causes some sort of damage overflow glitch that instakills the target).

FF6 Atma Weapon is very good. Damage is based only off the character’s current HP, and can be equipped by most characters. I believe the top 10 weapons list should be 9 of the FF10 Celestial Weapons because they all have Break 9,999 damage limit. Ha.

All celestial weapons in FFX are a direct Break Damage Limit for all Aeons, but the most frustrating is Lulu and Wakka Celestial weapon acquisition process.

Ultma weapon in ff6 did as much damage as the users current hp and if u pared it with a surten equipment would alow u to attack 4 to 8 times so 1 attack could 9,999 then times that by 4 to 8 and in ff6 players could farm as many ultma weapon as they wanted

However nearly EVERY SINGLE FFX best weapon is a PAIN in the ass to do the mini games required that its NOT worth it especially since I can't even win the FORCED Blitzball match in game that playing that mini game required For Waka's best weapon is NOT worth it.

Eh, the only ones i find to be a pain to upgrade would be Wakka and Lulu since those two are tedious, everyone else's just takes a bit of patience. Rikku's can be a pain, but only if you're trying to actually win the minigames with the cactuars, if you dont care about that, you can just intentionally fail it, and still get the Sigil. Yuna's and Auron's are the easiest to get by far.

Not really the blitz ball game is just as long as a Real sport like Football etc so even 1 MATCH for 5 to 10 minutes or more is just too long that its NOT worth playing once you LOSE the required match then I never bother to play the crappy mini game afterwards at all.

If we're being unbiased, all of the FFX celestial weapons make the list. What they all do different from every other weapon in the game that is a hidden mechanic that isn't shown in the weapon abilities is ignore the defense stat. Ironically, it makes Yuna's the 2nd worst of the celestial weapons despite making this list. A magic based celestial weapon is pointless because what they do that customized weapons can't do is ignore the defense. You can customize a much stronger magic based weapon than the ones that Yuna & Lulu get for their celestials.

The celestial weapons in FFX ignore defense, and have extra damage formulas though, so any similar weapon with equivalent abilities on it will always be weaker unless at low HP/MP for everyone but Auron.

lion heart should be near the top if not at the top. This weapon can be collected in the first 1/4 of the game, and is without doubt a game breaking weapon. (lion heart + aura = easy mode) theres not a boss in the game other than omega weapon that even posses a threat.

How do you make a most powerful weapons list for Final Fantasy games and not include the Seitengrat from Final Fantasy XII? That weapon is ridiculous, highest attack power in the game by far, insane attack range, and the fact that it doesnt even require a license meaning anyone can use it no questions asked. Hell since its a bow, you can also combine it with certain arrow types for more damage, and it can also critical, unlike most other weapon types.

"Sorceress" and yes, the quotes are part of the boss's name. You basically fight several (human like) sorceresses and then finally that one, it's just before the final location.

You either fight several sorceresses or the same two (or four, as the design changes) several times, and the battle background keeps changing to different locations in the game. In the end you fight the monster you see in this video (still called "Sorceress") and the location is no longer obvious, as you can see. It's the last non-optional boss battle before Ultimecia's Castle.

Vincent's weapon sucks in takes NO time for him to KoTR HP absorb and Mime it to kill Emerald weapon with 5x W summoned KoTRs then IT does to get 65,000 kills for him to 1 Shot Emerald weapon with the attack command Ruby weapon however can NOT die instantly from physical hits at all. That and Vincent ONLY gets the kills if they COUNT with the Death Penalty equipped which sucks vs the TALES of games Devils/Fel arm kills count using ANY weapon and at the VERY start of the game for the tales of games.

I did that without EVER PLAYING the card game in FF8 for it all you need is a lv 30 Squall Selphie and Quistis party ASAP WITH Diablos beaten during the FIRST Lunatic Pandora scenario steal 4x Laser Cannons off of the LV 30+ elastoids that are ONLY FOUGHT THEIR for the ENTIRE game. Convert 3 of the 4 Laser Cannons into 15x Plus ammo the Lionheart only needs 12 the 4th Laser Cannon stole is for a Quistis only limit break though it sucks. As for the Dragon Fangs needed for the Lionheart just lv up EVERYONE you get on disc 1 besides Irvine/Rinoa to lvs over 30+ via the T rex battles and you SHOULD get the dragon fangs needed. LV 30+ Adamantoises drop the adamantines needed use Degenerator Quistis only to kill them do NOT MUG those at all. So you do NOT need 20x Elnoyle cards to get the Pulse ammo needed besides its just faster to steal 3 Laser Cannons off of those lv 30+ Elastiods on disc 1 in UNDER 5 minutes vs easily taking over 2 to 3 HOURS to get the 20 Elnoyle cards.
