These are the musicians who have helped to continue and build our musical landscape. They are so often overshadowed by "musicians" lacking actual talent. It really is a shame that this type of artistry goes unnoticed.

About Garfield Cadets, in 1988, the corps had to go bankruptcy due to millions of dollars over the past 50 years. So, they set up a "new" drum corps and all of the equipment were donated from Garfield. It took a couple of years, but was free from all of the old debt.

Proud to say I knew a member of #4, The Boston Crusaders in 2009 (even though I was a Hawthorne Muchacho). She made me proud to be associated with an organization that is carrying on the tradition of Drum and Bugle Corps!!!

It is amazing to think of the Blue Saints still being an active competitor in DCI-they are from a very remote area in Northern Ontario, Canada. I admire their present directors -Mark and Sheila Ripley for their consistent leadership and guidance
@nostalgia65788 жыл бұрын
Seems the judges scrutinized the Blue Saints in the past. In DCI that is! I saw some of their YT videos and I didn't think they deserved scores in the 40's. If they would go "all age", join DCA and/or SDCA and say the heck with DCI, I think that would do Sudbury proud IMHO.

Legend has it that the original Phantom Regiment got its name from an old Syracuse Brigadiers tune from the fifties called "Phantom Regiment". I was previously involved with the Brigs Alumni and that was how I know this.
@gilnorton39587 жыл бұрын
Phantom Regiment was a tune written by Leroy Anderson. It was around before the Brigs played it, but they were the first drum corps I ever heard play it.

Actually, the Cascades were organized in 1965-66, despite the claim on their website. Their first recorded score was in 1967.

Racine, Madison and the cavaliers are the only known corps to have had origins from BSA (not the current political BS Scouts). All three Troops are inactive but the Corps are not, obviously. Racine? No clue.

@@DV-mq5fv Garfield ( The Cadets) and Boston Crusaders remain the oldest active corps, not Blue Rock you're correct. I mentioned Blue Rock because in their short existence from approx. 1957 to 1975, 1960 becoming a jnr. corps then DCI, they were always among the best corps in the country. National Championships with the 1968 US Open and the 1971 Dream Contest.

They began as the Son's of the American Legionin 1936 and changed their name to the Americanos Drum and Bugle Corps in 1957 even if you only give them credit for existing from the name change forward they should have made your list. Considering they have made the finals in their division 22 times since 1987 You should do better research.
