Love how the room turned out, just rearranging so the desk was on the longer wall made it feel more welcoming and less crammed into the space. I use a macbook pro for my day to day software work and my windows machine basically just for gaming, so I haven’t played with the virtual desktops under windows, but I can tell you I’ve used it *extensively* in mac os since I started working from home during covid (just have one gaming monitor). The multitouch swipe to switch desktops makes it SO easy. I use 5 desktops - outlook maximized on 1, comms/chat/meeting software on 2, firefox maximized on 3, vscode on 4, and terminal & finder windows on 5. I’ve found that I only miss having firefox and vscode up side by side - for the rest, it really helps my focus to basically ONLY have the IDE up on screen.

Yo, its not like you haven't thought about it but changing the monitor stand with an arm would do you a huge favour, you'd get much space, you can even get a dual monitor arm and mount that second monitor without much clutter and occupying unnecessary space...

What I did was use adhesive velcro strips to stick a wire management box under my desk where nobody will see it, the box houses the power bar with all the AC adapters for secondary devices. I also used adhesive zip-tie mounts with zip-ties to route all cables routed through the back of my desk, from the power box to the monitor arms. My whole setup literally has 1 cable coming from it, just for the power.

8:25 I got that knife from my grandfathers collection after my grandmother passed away. Great video as usual. For me two or more monitors are a must. So I suggest you get some VESA mount capable monitors. With the right two monitor stand with swinging arms it will actually take up less space on your desk than most single monitor stands do.

You can solve the desk space issue and even add a 3rd monitor to the set up with a proper monitor arm/bracket (assuming your monitors are VESA mount compatible), I got one a while back that clamps the the back edge of my desk, and it freed up all of the space where my monitor stands used to be. More desk space + the ability to add more screen real estate. Personally I would never sacrifice screen real estate for desk space.

What works for me is the table to be permanently set at standing height and pair it with a tall Drafting Chair, it takes alot less effort to get in and out of the chair, also you can simply roll away your chair and work on your computer while your standing to get the blood circulating again then switch back to chair and go back and forth. As for the monitors all the monitors need to be mounted on swing arms using the rear VESA mount, if your using the free included stand that comes in the box with the monitor then you are doing it wrong, theres just way to many better options for your monitor to mount on nowadays, go online and take a good look at the vast number of options to mount a monitor on. You have alot of room in that room so you could mount a bunch of bookshelves to all the walls for storage or for decorations. If you haven't done so already I suggest picking up some mini disco Party Lights, some colored light bulbs and light bars, they are useful for when your playing music or watching movies or playing video games.

brooo if you want the functionality of 2 screens while having physically 1 for aesthetics, get an ultrawide monitor. i heard it's really good for productivity especially video editing or using multiple applications at once.

No way I can get away with just one computer and monitor. I w@h but have to use companies PC. They supplied 1 very small monitor. However, since there are a lot of tools that we use, I forked over money for two 34" ultrawide 1080p monitors. I also forked over some money for 2 standing desks. One of them is for my personal computer and sound recording laptop (might end up ditching the laptop). Most of my "office" struggles is that half of the office is being used as a storage/dump (aka boxes) by my wife. So space hasn't really been a luxury. Overall, since November of 2022, I've been rearranging every so often and still can't find that "perfect" feel.

Hey oz, can I maybe recommended the use of a vesa mount within this setup, this will allow the use of both of your monitors and only costs around $30 on amazon, it also allow for more adjustability and takes up less space than a regular stand. Love the content, kijo.
