Space is unbelievably strange. You would be forgiven for thinking that every planet out there is similar, just a big ball of rock and gas, but planets are remarkably more unique than that. Here's the top 10 strangest planets in the known universe, that seem like they belong in some bizarre science fiction series.

Why do we think aliens also need water, oxygen, proper temp like we need etc etc. They might be eating diamonds and living in lava.
@mariorocks13
@mariorocks13 4 жыл бұрын
Chemistry, basically. Life cannot exist in certain environments or certain temperatures because certain chemical interactions must be carried out. Is it possible these interactions differ from the ones that exist in our earthbound life? Yes. But there's a limit to how much they can differ before simple feasibility rules it out. For example, nothing's going to be eating diamonds anytime soon. Diamond molecules are much larger than your usual common carbon molecule, and much more stable. There's no obvious end for an enzyme to grab. And the nonpolar tetrahedral carbons in a diamond are really stable, so it's hard to break the bonds. In order for something to eat a diamond, it'd need to be able to digest it for energy-and even if there is a way to break down raw carbon bonds in such a way that yields energy, which no earth life does (and we can't see a way for it to, albiet we haven't done much investigating into that comparatively), the process to do so would both be incredibly difficult and incredibly energy intensive. Basically, nothing's going to be eating a diamond, even if it's living on that planet made of diamond, because it'd die of energy expense before it got the first digestive enzyme out (assuming that such life somehow reached that point and wasn't just forever stuck as a tiny fragment of self-replicating genetic information.) As for living in lava, that's also unlikely. Only certain elements can form the complex bonds necessary for life, and without being able to form those complex bonds, then it also literally just cannot be life, because it wouldn't be able to pass on its genetic information. Lava is very hot-around 700C or higher. Carbon based life has an upper limit of 150C (though nothing alive currently survives these temperatures) before it is literally physically impossible for it to survive, because the bonds just break at that temperature. Anything in lava is going to be much happier on fire and/or part of the lava flow than in any complex bond involving organic chemicals, so all you're going to be getting is metals with a very high boiling point, and that's also unlikely to lead to anything because of the difficulty of getting a metal to bond chemically with another metal. It doesn't matter what element you make it out of, honestly. It's just not gonna happen, no matter how far in the universe you go. Edit: jesus fucking CHRIST you people are mentally deficient. I say 'no, diamond eating lava-living aliens aren't possible and now you're all up in arms about 'NOT ALL LIFE HAS TO BE LIKE EARTH LIFE PARTY POOPER' no shit not all life has to be like earth life, i've repeatedly specified this, there have been literal studies done to establish how alien life could vary entirely from us and we've created simple cell membranes in atmospheric and chemical conditions similar to that of the moon Titan specifically to prove this possibility i'm saying that not everything is possible and magic isn't real and try as you might you're never going to find an alien made out of fucking fluorine or an alien living inside of the sun because those things are impossible and can never occur ever.

I get what you say, but scientists look for most possible planet t9 have a life.. And since we know that we need water and oxygen to live.. There is bigger chance to find life on similiar planets too But! Of course that life can be adapted to its own things.. Just because something wouldnt work in here doesnt mean it wouldnt work somewhere else.. Also I think that yes maybe scientifically it is impossible.. But different planets can have differemt ways of creating life.. So yes, other life forms dont need water and oxygen, in my opinion, to exist. But since water and oxygen is the only life creator we know its best to look for planets like our.. Sorry for mistakes and typos.. English is my secomd language

We were made aware of these existing planets a few years ago. I remember telling some friends about the "Waterworld" planet, the one solely made of diamonds and the one where one side is extremely hot while the other side of the planet is extremely cold, yet can sustain life at the very edge of both! A few of them laughed in my face, obviously not believing it. But all they had to do was some quick research and they'd find out for themselves. This is what makes science so fascinating!!

I laughed so hard when he said “it would overload the diamond supply and make them complete worthless” well you see, diamonds aren’t rare and we actually have a lot more than the one company that sells them will tell you, in fact we have so many that they practically are worthless, however considering only one company really owns all the diamond mines/refineries, they can make the prices, and that’s also why when you buy a $4,000,000 diamond it becomes $1,000,000 in less than a day

Their are enough mined diamonds in the world to fill 330,000,000 8 ounce cups. The artificial inflation is a scam developed about 100 years ago when de beres teamed up with the other major diamond mining companies forming a monopoly in the market. However they used to be very precious and rare. Then the largest deposits in the planet where discovered in South Africa.

Y’all wanna know the scariest part? We’re looking at these planets in the past. When we look at something light years away the light takes time to reflect off the plant and hit the telescope we’re looking at. Some of these things could look completely different now or be inhabited. From some other planet billions of light years away, if they’re looking at us, they could just see our Jurassic period and not us current day.
