You lost me at Castlevania: Chronicles. I’m sorry, that is absolutely not a bad Castlevania game in the slightest. It’s a solid remake of CV1 that borrows assets from SC4. The game offers two different ways to play it, there’s like 3 different soundtrack options, and there’s even a video interview with IGA. Hell, this is the game that gave us Ayami Kojima’s iconic red haired Simon Belmont design, which clearly influenced future Castlevania games. The fact that you put Chronicles on here tells me you had to pad out the list to meet that 10 count.

With what you said about how Castlevania should never be in a modern setting, I think I should point out that Dawn of Sorrow was set in the year 2035, and one of the usable weapons was a legit RPG, and it was a great game. And I admit that a lot of the character designs in Judgement sucked. I do think they did a good job with Cornell though. I would like to find the game to try it.

Agree on this one bro, aria and dawn of sorrow works and was set in the modern age, it’s just that they retained the metriodvania style on that game and made LOS into a GOW. A lot of people hated this game but I loved it, from the story to the twist at the end. Giving us a different perspective of the other side.

Personally, I’m very shocked that Castlevania Chronicles is in this list. I do admit that playing the Chronicles can be disappointing, especially if you were looking for a similar style as the SOTN. However, since the chronicles series are for bringing back Japan exclusive series that came out with unpopular consoles only, I think this was great edition for some CV core fans. Not for everyone for sure, but I enjoyed a lot. I do agree that it was too expensive when it came out though.

Someone has a Symphony of the Night Bias. XD The N64 games might not be very popular, but fun fact! They're the most accurate to the original lore of Dracula (as this series is set in the same universe as Bram Stroker's Dracula.)

I love Castlevania 64. I really like its darker tone, the feeling of isolation. The controls and camera do take some getting used to. They mostly fixed those issues with Legacy of Darkness. I'd go as far as to say CV64 is my favorite in the series but it's also the one I've put the most time into

I love castlevania 64 a lot I never had any issues with the controls. Loved the dark creepy atmosphere the music the tomb raider style gameplay that game have a special place in my heart. still favorite castlevanias of all times are symphony of the night draculas curse and super castlevania 4 and aria of sorrow.

Chronicles wasn't that bad as a retelling of the original game of the nes! It stands out much better as a remake rather super castlevania 4 that supposedly was a remake in the japanese version! And the gameboy games was pretty good after the first one! Belmond's revenge & legend was nicely made for the handheld!

Definite modern setting there. You gonna put those on the list too, despite them both being great games? Also, the final battle of the Demon Castle Wars? SET IN 1999. You CAN have Castlevania in a modern setting and keep the “gothic aesthetic”, you’re just whining about it. Just say you don’t like Lords of Shadow 2 without making up bullshit reasons. C64 makes sense to be on a "worst" list for whoever doesn't like it but you have it in 10th place, which says a lot, while c64/LoD is one of my Top 3 favorites, along with Dracula X Rondo of Blood and Bloodlines. No Igavanias in my Top 5 and barely in my 10 favorites. My favorite Igavania is Portrait of Ruin.

Thats a fair lens to observe the game with. I wish I could see it that way. Its just that LoS2 felt like they were focusing more on what everyone else was doing at that time. I mention Last of Us and God of War because those were big games at the time. So, LoS2 seemed to fall under peer pressure and do things that didnt make sense. But anyways, glad you enjoyed it!

Lords of Shadow 2 doesn't belong, it falls short of the first game, but is still okayish. And Castlevania spans countless centuries, there's no reason there can't be modern settings, the the Sorrow games. Plus, the first game was already Castlevania meets God of War.

I seem to be in the minority on this, but hear me out. Judgment was actually an okay game. In retrospect, the only real gripe I have with the game is the jarring art direction and the questionable character designs. Besides that, I’d say they handled everything else pretty well for a crossover fighting game. The character interactions are genuinely interesting to watch, even if some of the characters (like Maria) were poorly written. The gameplay itself is pretty enjoyable. It’s obviously not a balanced, competitive fighting game, it’s just meant to have fun as your favorite Castlevania characters. That’s not even mentioning the amount of modes they added to this game. Story, Arcade, Castle, Survival, etc. This game offers plenty of replay value. And then…the soundtrack. Honestly, the soundtrack alone is enough to redeem this game of all its flaws. So much so, that I ended up buying the soundtrack on iTunes. That’s how god-tier it is. It’s so good, that future Castlevania games, Smash Ultimate, and even Grimoire of Souls would borrow songs from it. TL;DR, I think Judgment has just become “that game” in the franchise that people just mindlessly criticize without actually analyzing the things it did right. I hope it gets remastered soon, as I think there’s still an audience for a Castlevania fighting game.

Oh, looks like we have a Symphony of the Night fanboy here, right? You're even comparing Chronicles to SotN, and both are from COMPLETELY DIFFERENT GENRES. Symphony is a game with focus on exploration, Chronicles has a focus on action. Chronicles' visuals still really beautiful to this day, and it's an amazing retelling of Simon's original adventure. Imo, it's the best in the franchise. You didn't even give a reason on why Chronicles is a bad game. The level design is incredibly fun, and it's not that big of a game, so it can be replayed pretty easily.

I played Castlevania The Adventure in the anniversary collection and i preferred Belmont's Revenge. It was so much better and felt like a Castlevania game should. Ironically enough, i have both Lords of Shadow games on the Xbox. They were free downloads for Gold membership users. Didn't another Castlevania take place in the future though? I think it was Aria of Sorrow.

the pachinko castlevanias (deserves to burned) not cannon castlevaina 64 (deserves love because its going on to the castlevania:the 3d collection) Simon's Quest (deserves love as well). look for a map you fool. ps1 castlevania chronicles (a ps1 remake of the first game deserves love as well). it has a easy setting in its option menu. Castlevania puzzle (a complete ripoff). Castlevania: Order of Shadows (deserves love because it derserves to be on the collection). Castlevania: Legacy of darkeness (deserves to be the 3d collection) it was a prequal to castlevania 64 so your trash. Castlevania: the adventue (just came to the collection so some dirt is in your eye). i demand the Wiiware Castlevania Adventure rebirth on the collection. Castlevania: the lords of shadow saga (Mirror of fate rocks so all three goes to the 3d collection). Castlevania: Judgement (I began playing this one so show some respect) Castlevania: Lemont of inosants (deserves love for being a great origin story of the belmonts) Castlevania: Curse of Darkness (a great sequal to castlevania 3: Dracula's curse)

The best and best Castlevania game of all time in my opinion is the game Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, and that game has never been replaced in my life. I used to play the Castlevania game when I was a kid, and the first time I played the Castlevania: Symphony of the Night game on PS1, and I think the game is really fantastic, epic, and amazing. Those are the three words that were said for the game, because in my opinion the game was really very good, at that time when I played the Castlevania game it was difficult for me at that time. And that game used to challenge me to play the game to the end, and it was really really cool in my opinion, it made me nostalgic again, the best.. 🥺😭😊👍 And sorry if my English is not good, because I use Google Translate to translate my language, hehe.. 🙏😅

Harmony of Dissonance is categorically the WORST of the GBA titles. That horrendous blue outline around Juste Belmont is so d@mn distracting, especially compared to the graphics of the background scenery and the enemies. I strongly urge everyone to give this one a HARD pass.

Simon's quest and Chronicles were actually not bad games. The real two that should've been here are Legends and Haunted Castle. Then again, I never played Legends, but Haunted Castle is freaking terrible.

I respect the opinions of everyone who went over these games, but I have to ask who was having so much trouble with Castlevania two? I am visually impaired, and I played this game in a time when there was no Internet access available to help me look at a guide. Despite this I had no problem making my way through the game, aside from dying in pits, or to be more accurate falling into the darn water. As for judgment, I can’t speak to how everything looks, how ever because of my Visual impairment I had a lot of fun actually playing through a game where I didn’t have to worry about a stupid map getting me lost.

I will admit bringing the story to the modern day was a terrible idea. But other than that Lords of Shadow 2 was an awesome game in my opinion.

Glad you enjoyed it! I understand why some folks like it, but when comparing LoS2 with its predecessor, it just doesn't accomplish much of what the first game did.
