Thanks for watching did anything surprise you about these prices? I plan on covering other systems from that time period to pair with retronomics

You really don't want to know how cheap these NES games were in 1997...

Great idea for a video. I remember retro stores during this time. A time when 95% of NES games were under $1.
@SuperNicktendo Жыл бұрын
yeah I found Mega Man 5 for 5 bucks at Gamestop. I wish I kept more of an eye out for Little Samson. There was a local store that had it for $35

I have a few old funcoland newspaper lists from 1998. They show all the nes games and their prices. Ive been collecting since 1997 so i remember the prices from back then.

In December 2002, I won an eBay auction where I purchased a complete copy of Earthbound for $85

Great video nick! Crazy to think little Samson was so cheap not even that long ago.

Excellent video man ! Like 10 years ago, I bought a generation nex and I knew I was taking a gamble on whether it worked, unfortunately, it did not work. If I ever came across one again, I would definitely buy it even though I know they’re just a novelty now. It’s crazy how much prices have changed over the years. I would love to get mighty final fight and panic restaurant at those prices.
@SuperNicktendo Жыл бұрын
yeah if I had more disposable money during that time, I'd have a full set by then.

Thanks for listing the ganes at the end of the video. It's funny that a clone console insert might be the only list of pieces from the era. I'm not sure there's any high-priced games that are worth the cost of admission. Those late release Taito games are good but not top tier.
@SuperNicktendo Жыл бұрын
I have found more from that time period while researching this video so I'll be sharing more consoles.

I started collecting back in 2007 and now after watching this video I wish I started collecting back in 2005. Prices were still cheap but not that cheap.
@emann888 Жыл бұрын
Back in the 90s Funcoland had these 1-sheets with an alphabetical list of game prices and I see people post them from time to time - have you using these to determine prices pre-2000? I’m almost certain the prices were for loose games
@SuperNicktendo Жыл бұрын
Yeah I have seen those. But those are usually when the system was current. Still fun to look at them. I have some magazines from 2004-2009 which have a ton of prices from all different consoles that I want to discuss

I remember going to game stop shopping for NES loose carts in 2002. They had Super Mario Bros in any variant for $0.17. Most games were $2 to $15, those that were not as massively produced. I should have cleaned them out, but was broke in my early 20's and just grabbed one of the ones I wanted.

I wish I knew prices would boom like they did for the retro stuff I would have got all the rare stuff then, I also wish I knew what the rare stuff was. I’ve been a retro gamer my whole life back when it wasn’t retro and I would get games here and there I wanted to play to beef my collection once I had money around that time. My best score was ninja gaiden 3 nes for 1$ shipped off eBay and I got a whole snes with a bunch of games and super Mario rpg cheap. It was 2014 when I really got back into it and knew what was what and the prices were still doable then but going up. I kick myself for not getting certain games and consoles now unaffordable when I had the money back then but I still got a good amount of stuff

Little Samson is in fact better than Mega Man 2 and Contra but that is just my opinion. However, compared to other rare and expensive games for the NES such as Cowboy Kid, Gun-Nac. Fire 'n Ice, etc., it is not one of the best games for the system. There are still a bunch of rare and expensive games that suck like Color a Dinosaur, Chubby Cherub, and many of the unlicensed games.

I have Little Samson and Gun Nac. Great games!!

Little samson sucks compared to contra. Little samson is just ok but contra fn rules! Id never pay what ppl want for shitty samson

Games that are $15-$20 nowadays i use to get for $2-$5 tops before 2007. Thats when i started shopping at my local retro stores. Lota the games that go for $100 now are not worth the price. Id never pay what ppl want for little samson on nes. Games not worth it. Same with earthbound. That game sucks ass lmao i mean other then the big ass box it came in that was only cool thing about that game tbh

I seen a Felix the Cat at a pawnshop by me about a month ago for 80. Probably could of talked down to maybe 50 or 60 but I dont have any interest in that game so I passed.

yeah I like the game but i don't think the price is justified.

Ah 3:08 lol that'll explode through a flimsy 50% inflation barrier like 2005 $40 being $63 now (a little less than the $70 games though I feel they want to undermine used games with constant dlc, or remasters with less like tales of symphonia and no new content outside maybe boosted console ff pixel remasters, though that is stat manipulation/random encounter toggles). I do notice that switch games are getting cheaper, though they may spike up one day. Do feel my joycons are as useless as the 3d for late 3ds games not having it. 1:15 thanks for explaining copyright limits and generation nex. I know a lot of stuff is available online to play hardware, or preloaded mini arcades. 2:25 cool digital press used to track RIP.
@SuperNicktendo Жыл бұрын
Yeah copyright is tricky and now that we're almost 20 years out from the NeX people kind of just take clone systems for granted
