Are you sure he suggested to the Yemen cousin to "stockpile polyester?" Stockpiling is never wise for any business. It's why we have just-in-time delivery. Storage costs can eat up profits. Besides, polyester was invented in the 50s. It wasn't high-tech by the 70s. The hurdle was crude oil. We had a global oil shortage in the 70s. India is an oil importer. Perhaps Reliance had a way to get their raw materials that their competitors couldn't.

Hey you missed that Jio basically gave Sim cards for free for around an year and destroyed the telecom market in India 😊😊
@HowHistoryWorks2 күн бұрын
Genuine question. Was this seen as a good thing or a bad thing by average people?
@animekhpandey13422 күн бұрын
Well for a lot of people especially lower middle class who had access to smartphones it was great. But what Jio did effectively was to create a habit in the Indian public to use unlimited mobile data/internet and unlimited calling. This worked as an addictive drug and slowly when the competition was killed and the Indian consumer was left at its whim Jio disbanded the free policy and started charging it. Now Jio dictates the prices. For your question in the short term there were benefits but long term I see Jio developing a complete monopoly in the Indian market.
@sumeettanwar16082 күн бұрын
@@HowHistoryWorksit's has became a duopoly now with price increase but at the time and even now it's seen as good because it brought the digital revolution. Otherwise 1gb data was still cost like it do in Africa nowdays. So many industries become possible because data became cheap.

There is competition in India with Jio , Aritel and VI (vodaphoneIdea ) and BSNL that is a government company . (You should know it’s performance won’t be best .There were two more companies that were there before this , which got bankrupt due to 2g spectrum scam even before jio entering .

They intentionally live there to freeload And avoid high rents as this location is a prime spot in mumbai.... You don't have to show pity for them...coz they don't deserve it....
