Slavery happened, Americans were slaves and had slaves. America as a country was not founded on slavery. I’m glad the author finally admits that the ideal of the country is freedom and liberty for all. 3 years ago she said the opposite.

You also don't point out thr fact that many African kingdoms back during the slave trade did business alongside the Americans and Europeans. Do you know what that means? It means that many African kingdoms sold their own people out, yet you never hear anyone talk about this.

“The 1619 project is…truth.” In as much as every individual’s understanding of what is “true” is, at best, only a flailing, mostly obscured understanding of that ultimate reality, when this documentary, or any other, asserts to be definitive on the topic, you can be absolutely positive it is not. The fact that it is told from a black perspective or through a black lens of experience, does indeed make it compelling to watch and certainly can add to our understanding of the experience and far reaching social ramifications of an inhumane institution like slavery. However, because it is told from this perspective, exclusively, this seriously degrades the necessary objectivity from which anything corresponding to “truth” might possibly be determined.
