New Orleans was a place where Italian Americans were as despised as African Americans which happened to have a shortage of Italian American females during the time. Out of those two components, there may have been a degree of sexual intimacy between Italian American males and African American females that was exceptional because in comparison to any other place in the country, the proportion of African Americans in New Orleans who bear surnames of Italian origin is much greater. Among the dozens, are Ammirato, Arena, Barabino, Bruno, Cagnolatti, Cuneo, Danna, Domio, Fascio, Fortuna, Gallo, Garibaldi, Liuzza, Manetta, Martello, Nocentelli, Romano, Russo, Sentino, Spadoni, and Taranto.

@tristezzalamentoluciano265 3 жыл бұрын
@@sicilianupazzu5374 well, I know it's a little of every group that pays this too much attention. I'm personally sick of it all. Why is it, that in this late year of 2021, we as human beings can't agree that all people of all races and complexion, are equal? Why is there still this futile argument over who is superior and who belongs where etc? I'm a really liberal person. I'm very open and accepting. I'm kind of an Earth Worshipper, or a Pagan/Druid as Christians would call me. I have a deep love for our planet and for all creatures on it, no matter how unnecessary and insignificant they seem to us. I feel an attachment to the trees, the oceans, the soil, the moon and to every person that I come across. For me, there can be no race of people superior than another. We don't say that this species of bird is better than that one, or that this fish is better than another. We are all necessary and all have a place here. We all belong. I get really heated when I hear some mortal man yelling about his superiority and his place at the top of the hierarchy, for several reasons. I don't understand why they're so threatened by anything or anyone that's different from them. That insecurity is ridiculous to me. There's no competition here. We all have to coexist and learn to respect our planet if we are going to survive. Right now, the outlook is dim at best. Yes, it's some of the African-Americans obsessing about skin tone. But it's also Asians, Hispanics, Caucasians, etc. Every group does it. I think their reasons for doing it are different. But let's say someone who is African-American hates me or decides I'm a substandard quality human based on my complexion (which is very strange, I might add-its a pale golden-olive that stays very light in the winter when Im not in the sun, but gets deep bronze-olive during the summertime). This person would be racist and just as wrong as the white supremacist who engages in the same silly ideology. Our melanin levels are indicative of nothing more than our geological position and proximity to the equator. I don't mean to ramble or hyperbolize, it's just hard for me to explain my thoughts sometimes. My apologies.

@scsyc bxcvbx You’re talking about the Romans and their conquests? No doubt they could be incredibly cruel but that’s a different subject than WASPs, Racism, and the way immigrants were treated in the US. Also, I never said cruelty is inherent to any race of people, nor did I say one group was more or less cruel than another today or historically. That doesn’t mean we can’t discuss our ancestors and what happened to them. That also doesn’t mean because someone is discussing history they are claiming to be a victim or oppressed today. History is often misunderstood, taught with partial truths, taught from one perspective, or not taught at all. That’s why discussing history is important.

The affinity between African and Italian Americans in New Orleans was something which had more to do with the lynchings than many people realize. You can chalk that up to the selective memory loss among many of the Italian American residents of New Orleans as their slow journey to complete whiteness in the city came with slowly distancing themselves from the city's African American residents.

Shouldn't we remain on topic and discuss the other 538 lynchings that occurred in Louisiana between 1877 and 1940. If we have to expand the discussion to include the entire US, we can talk about the other 4000 plus lynchings that have occurred. We can also discuss if reparations were paid out to the families as well. I mean discussing the discrimination encountered by other groups would be wonderful too, but no need to make false equivalencies.

True. However the italians who moved to America more than one century ago were mainly from the deep, poor, rural South Italy. Not from Milan, Turin, Venice, Verona, Florence, Roma and very few from Naples and Palermo. No, they came from small town and villages in the innerland of Sicily, Calabria, Abruzzo, Puglia, Campania. They were poor "cafoni", that means peasants, rednecks. Dark haired, olive skinned, dark or green eyes, illiterate, unmannered and miserable. Further more, deeply catholic. The american wasp who have never visited other place out of own land built their discriminating stereotype of italian on them. For sure not on the aristocrats, landowners, magistrates and artists who keep enjoying sweet life in Italy living in mansions and places that the avarage american could only dream at the time. Those italian were tallish, elegant, sophisticatelly flamboyant, gentle and much more mannered than the violent wasps. Still nowdays the difference between some italians from for example Milan and the italian-american of fourth generation is evident.

@@iangallagher4135 During the Great Lynching Era (circa 1880 -1920) native-born whites, immigrant whites (including Irish), and blacks were lynched but in significantly different ways. Native-born whites were usually lynched by small groups, in private settings, and typically for serious offenses (murder, rape etc). Conversely, blacks were usually subjected to spectacle lynching (public lynching by large mobs) for minor infractions and their bodies were often burned afterwards; when whites were lynched their bodies were rarely ever burned. Blacks were also lynched at rates significantly higher than whites. White Irish immigrants were lynched in a manner and at rates consistent with native-born white lynching, not black lynching. People who write comments like "Irish people were lynched" as if this is a profound or meaningful revelation are usually historically illiterate.

@@iangallagher4135 Were their corpses burned? Was it a spectacle lynching? If it was this is a rare example. Scholars have surveyed lynching data from the Great Lynching Era and have found only scant evidence that European immigrants ever experienced spectacle and ritualistic lynching; the norm was that Europeans were lynched as were native-born whites, and at comparable rates. To put it to you another way, even if the New Orleans lynching was consistent with black lynching, it is simply ahistorical to treat one example of one lynching as analytically decisive, and then use that to make spurious arguments about European immigrants having experienced similar abuse as black Americans (as is often the crux of the argument whenever non-historians bring up this subject on social media).

Here's a fact about African slavery to the Carribean which existed for a century before arriving in USA from which half of all USA black slavery came from Carribean and not directly from Africa.And Spain was not first or second largest in Carribean african slavery,that was England and France. What caused the Holocaust of native Americans was diseases European briught to America,the first slaves on north America where white Europeans indentured servants .they were plagued with malaria which Europeans had brought to new world among others diseases small pox etc..what became very recognizable African slaves had immunity to malaria and could be expected to be slave labor for Decades

💙judgment that is not physically, mentally, naturally financially and spiritually beneficial is useless therefore has no true value. Without judgment progress cannot be made. For no one can express or receive love or any other desired emotion in its entirety if the don't know themselves. We are all not created equal however we all have a equal obligation in living up to the pleasure, potential, and responsibility of femininity and masculinity. So don't miss the deadline on doing your best to become physically fit, mentally sound, and spiritually balanced being able to express physical freedom. Which can be accomplished through clean air, water, fitness, that specializes in overall functionality combined with high sources of nutrition organic non-genetically modified would be best. Plus formal education and real hands-on experience. When one learns the body's capabilities and limitations by fully engaging with all their bodies senses to their extreme limits in the most efficient way that is humanly possible. The subconscious then begins to naturally subconsciously systematically coincide with the mind-body souls spirit mother Earth nature and all the various different forms of life that live within this world and the most efficient way that is humanly possible. Thus yielding the best spiritual kickback for one's efforts accomplishments experiences. You might want to take these points to heart Considering the simple logic basic concept that if life is not free, why the hell would death be any cheaper? It's not the question the common, basic, average, normal man or woman may be able to wonder is what is the spiritual cost to one's own soul and spirit for freely living dying off having only used the smallest percentage of a fraction of the true potential they are first born with. Not to add insult to injury for the last hundred and 50 years or so the mass majority of the population from coast-to-coast globally more so here in America. has been living and dying yielding the worst spiritual kickback that has ever been manifested since the beginning of life only getting worse. And that has nothing to do with everybodys so-called charming personality and everything to do with the standards of quality pertaining to our air, water, foods, landscapes, working/living environment, every day home products, habitats, and ecosystems. This lack of comprehension conscious physical participation in solutions is ignorant beyond retarded (no offense to any disabled people was intended.) When you consider for the last 490 years Give or take we have had the manpower woman influence or vice versa to have created clean high paying jobs from coast-to-coast globally that would constantly consistently be improving upon and maintaining the quality of our life in such a manner. That the mass majority of the population from coast-to-coast globally would constantly consistently naturally, gradually, and systematically almost effortlessly start becoming stronger, smarter, healthier, happier, better off physically, mentally, and financially possibly spiritually then the previous generation. Now I would like to resurrect the wish and prayer I made prior to my 8th birthday which was to be held spiritually accountable to the statements I proclaim to the way I'm living personally and professionally. I guarantee you never see or hear another body, man or woman in power, persons of legal, religious authority, or leaders ever freely validate the statements they proclaim with that level of certainty one reason they don't have the best interest of the majority of the population's needs at heart a another reason could be they cum from a bloodline of cowards or simply have a lifestyle that suggests, confirms, and validates them as being feebleminded physically inadequate submissive subservient which it doesn't get any worse than that. One is genetically inherited and the other is a simple generic learned behavior. Quite possible to be a combination of these worst-case scenarios combined is one to say the least. Nonetheless either way it is physically, mentally, and spiritually useless to freely live and die in such a low quality manner. Especially if that ignorant stupidity, weak, lonely desperation stems from being soft, lazy, out of shape, over fed, undernourished, overworked, and underpaid with a dirty low-paying job that comes from outdated power sources, inferior materials, poisonous, toxic substances, pesticides, and chemicals that never change their killing composition. Which means simpletons whether it is a solid, liquid, or burnt off into our airways atmosphere as a vapor it is always going to be poisonous, debilitating, and deadly to the body at the same time polluting, corrupting, and devastating to mother Earth and all the various different forms of life that live within this world. There is no cash profit to be made in the demise of the planet. Thanks to those dirty low-paying jobs we are in the mist of environmental financial global collapse. The good news souls and spirits have paid out are picking up the tab on the end results of those dirty low-paying jobs And so much more. The even better news that the common, basic, average, normal man woman may be able to comprehend is souls and spirits have been are being managed, directed, maintained, and implemented with all the disease, sickness, illness, pain, suffering, injury, abuse, neglect, hunger, addiction, sadness, anger, and hyper- aggressive violent criminal conduct. That has been allowed to occur manifesting throughout the history of mankind into what it is today thanks to people like Donald Trump who have the false belief if the mass majority of the population is at their worst they will feel less afraid scared inferior to the true potentials of love, honor, and the creation of life. Here's the deal you're either part of the world solutions or exacerbating the planets problems there is no safe in between. Either way no matter how you look at it each and every moment of every life has been spiritually accounted for. S.R.F.
