4:10 She canna take any more, captain. She's gonna blow. I still remember the smell from the burning fuel. My dad has an impressive collection including this, the steam roller, traction engine and car.

I had the Traction Engine with a rod that went through the chimney to turn the front axle as it went along the fire was a box full of some sort of wadding you filled it up with meth's. I built a power station out of meccano and used it to drive a DC motor and light up a bulb lol.

I have an old Märklin stationary steam engine which my grandma was given by her Austrian employers in the late 60s. My friends dad at the time patched it up a little. It still works, but could do with a little more TLC.

Bloody great fun love it, like that you forgot to open the valve. Magical steam isn’t it, all you need now is a rubber band for the wheel and your off. Great fun cheers Fred you made my day thanks 🙏

Hi Alan. You keep the steam valve closed before the run and rotate the engine to draw oil into the piston. Great fun these old engines.

Wow such a beautiful machine! Looking at the wheel I thought it can have a belt turning another wheel with a dynamo and make electricity.

I had a Jet-X aircraft back in about 1953 with its brown pellet , mesh and wick The aircraft was silver balsa . We lived in Bank flats and the large house behind us had a cook and some housemaids. One day my Jet-X Jet went over the top of our flats into the backyard of the large house. An irate cook appeared at the fence with my jet soaked in porridge.

Has a similar one when was a kid. No microwaves to pre-haet the water back then. And mine didn't have a throttle.

Never run them on straight water , use a lubricant in the water such a soluble cutting oil designed for lathes, drilling and milling machines, the piston and bore will last a lot longer . I have used 3 in 1 oil in the water when I have run out of other lubricants.

Hi. Sadly your not wrong. When i left school i worked in Stoke Newington. I also had a friend who lived in Seven Sisters who i would visit a lot. Did about 6 years commuting up there and got tired of the hussle and bussle. Other than the odd night out in the west end ive not really gone back. Its changed a hell of a lot since then. Stoke Newington is quite posh now :-)
I assembled a miniature steam engine. Its awesome!
