Some of you kids of yesterday will come online to twist history but forgetting that some of us are already an adult when the war started. For your information, Biafra did NOT invade Benin. Rather, Biafrans planned to attack Dordan Barracks which was the Seat of power in Lagos but they had to passed through Benin. Many Benin families camped the Biafra soldiers led by a Yoruba man that fought on the side of Biafra whose name was Col. Victor Banjo. Prior to high level military Operation to capture Lagos, the Biafra Supreme Military Council had already agreed to recognise Benin as a separate colony of their own otherwise known as Republic Of Benin....this is in respect of the ancient Benin Kingdom that have been on their own before the war between Benin people and Portuguese in the year 1485 and later British people in the year 1890 which eventually resulted to the amalgamation of North and South of Nigeria in 1914 when Britain finally won Igbos in Ekumeku War and the Aro - British war of 1902. Secondly, Gowon was not the most senior military officer but rather Major Ogundipe. Thirdly, you deliberately avoided talking about the pogrom against the Igbos where more than 300 high ranking military officers was kíĺĺed in the North prompting the meeting in Ghana. Stop talking rubbish Mr. Man

@Nicelooking101-1 It's not about talking rubbish it's about getting the story right, but someone has got to get it started then validation can come to strengthen the narrative. We need to get these stories going so we educate people on our history, like the real King of Benin, God's of old, our craft works and original traditions before the British came.

Republic of Benin never happened. It was one of the tricks that Ojukwu and Okonkwo tried with the hope that the MidWest people would fall for the bait. Regrettably, no one in MidWest made any comment to Igbo biafrans and no one supported or joined them. The people have no weapon so they just relax waiting for help from Lagos. Hence there was never any republic of Benin. What was the currency? What was the flag? what was the coat of arm? Which citizens created it? Igbos take other tribes for granted and insult their intelligence. Hence Igbos are hated in naija till tomorrow.

Truth be told Nigeria was never put together by thieving colonialists for the good nor benefit of the so called Nigerian, which is why the sham of a country needs to be broken up along ethnic lines. Nevertheless though the structural foundation Nigeria was built upon was always extremely fragile, It has to be said that Igbos and Fulanis as a result of their greed completely destroyed that structure.

@@mosesogundipe4703 Really? Some Nigerians don't know about educational less developed states in cut off? Let me explain small. In federalism, equity is essential. Some states don't have good schools and they shouldn't be discriminated against. So there is a system to accommodate them. It's in all fields: Military, Education, Federal Civil service etc. Unfortunately for our country, the practice is highly corrupt and politicised. Unilag was publishing the cut off of courses (including the cut off of those states and catchment area). I guess they don't publish it anymore.

@idemudiaosaze262, Idemudia, Ojukwu invaded and captured MidWest state. Benin was the capial city. The Biafra soldiers openly executed more than 2,000 non Igbos in the state. Their dead body was everywhere until Agbor. Go ask your current Oba, his grandfather, his father and himself all escaped to beg Gowon in Lagos for military help because Igbos captured the palace as well. This Oba has recounted the Story to Gowon when he visited Benin. Besides, google MidWest Invasion and read the full story by Nowa Omoigui.

Okay so Nigeria was brought together by the british because the northern rulers and their religious leaders and way of life of the northern people were easier to be controlled by the British so when ever they came here they out the northerners over everyone when the igbos and yorubas came together that they want to have independence they met up with northern rulers ( note at that time nigeria operated regional government) and the condition given to the west and east was that even after we break from British rule the northerns would still be in control of the countries politics and the west and east agreed to that moving on we got independence amd the northerns wey abusing power embezeling funds spending lavishly and having private backdoor deals with multinational companies and the igbos who relocated to bigger cities bcos at the time igbo states werent really that big and i mean they werent major cities so igbos move to lagos state benin portharcourt kano and kaduna the northerns were not comfortable with the way of life of the igbo who used their way of business to out compete other business in the north taking the high value roles that northerners felt was supposed to be filled by them but due to the fact that the igbos were more educated they were better fits for the role so they mostly got those jobs and this angered the northerns to start killing the igbos and oppressing them and by this time ( I skipped alot of things o like when ojukwu came into power and the first coup by and igbo man chukuwma kaduna that was counter couped by Johnson Aguiyi-Ironsi) ojukwu called all igbos back home as they had been killed in excess by the hausa and fulani people living in the north so the igbos came back home and so on and so forth Sorry Every one reading this my work break just ended so i cant go on thanks for your understanding Cheers!!🎉❤
