The 1992 World Premiere of Fantasmic!

When Scott attended the world premiere of Fantasmic! in 1992, as always he had his camera. In this video, Scott shares some of his photos and artifacts as he virtually takes you to that historic day which also included the 25th anniversary celebration of Pirates of the Caribbean, the new Beauty and the Beast live show, and the world’s introduction to the character of Max, Goofy’s son. He also shares a story of how Fantasmic! got its name, told to him by a person who was a direct part of it!

This was such a great recap. My father was in the press, and I was lucky enough to be at this opening as well with him and attend the press events that evening (as well as many other Disney events throughout the 90s). Say what you want about Eisner, but he could throw some parties! I remember clearly meeting many celebs that night of the Fantasmic opening, including not only Mr Eisner, but the one that sticks out to me right now is Dustin Diamond (Screech), who just recently passed away. He was such a nice guy, and I’ll never forget that night. Thanks for recapping this so well.

Excellent video, Scott. Fascinating to hear the behind-the-scenes stories about one of Disneyland's most legendary and beloved shows, as well as to see your memorabilia. I myself have told that the "mic" in Fantasmic! is not intended to evoke Mickey but I don't think they believe me. Now I can quote you citing Jack Lindquest from your video! Best of all are your personally shot photos. Priceless. Did I say best of all? No, best of all is you-your superior screen presence, your articulate and at-ease storytelling delivery, and your voice, which is gentle and friendly, easy to listen to, but completely polished and professional.

I was there too! During the cast member dress rehearsal in 1992 my father worked at the park and took me the night it debuted and boy was I speechless! I’ll never forget seeing the dragon head come up from Tom sawyers island and Mickey Mouse slaying the dragon! It was unlike anything I had ever seen or experienced.
