@@Handiman544 Modern SUV's in 2020? Yes. Ford Bronco's? Hard no. These things are almost as spartan as the old TJ'S and YJ's. People demand luxury from SUV's now that just isn't present in the Bronco. The only one's still driving them are enthusiasts, offroaders, and people who've maintained them since their release. At release from factory they performed well off road thanks to their ground clearance and torque, but their aftermarket exploded and still exists to this day. 3 people have them at my local fire department for example, and they certainly don't use them as station wagons.

The first car I drove was my parents' '81 Bronco, it was the smallest engine, no options whatsoever. It was quite a bit more crude than the '96 in this review. The clutch throw was about a mile long with a narrow engagement point. Manual locking hubs you had to wade into the mud to lock up. It could only go about 82 mph full-throttle and shook like crazy, but it would idle up a curb in low gear. Speeds were slower then, I got my first ticket for going 72 on a highway where the speed limit is 75 now.

Doug- You missed the whole folding up the back seats! (Gotta admit I have been driving Broncos since I learned to drive in 1982. I learned in a 1978, drove a 1982 till the 90's and I have owned a 1989 Bronco since 2000, and with over a quarter million on it it's still a daily driver and cold weather beast who starts even at -45ºF.)

Actually to throw something in the back, like a few bags of groceries, you stick the key in to have the window go down. Then you just live the window down on nice days. It's only a 3 step process for big items.

Doug finally drove a Bronco!! Lazy, lumbering, simple, vague steering, crappy fuel economy.. exactly what 4X4s were in the 90s, and that's why we love them! I find driving my 95 F-150 to be a refreshing experience, as it is actually enjoyable to drive, is comfortable, and it gets many compliments (plus I don't lose it in the parking lot like my new truck).

My parents had a 92 when I was in high school. Loved that truck. Dad towed our 22 foot Bayliner cabin cruiser with it. Not exactly a light boat, and with that truck you could barely feel it back there. Just a beast. Wish it was still in the family...
