Congratulations on another start! I actually don't mind the "boring looking" trails. There are lots of little details in the forest to notice. And, if there is some wind, you have the sound of creaking trees. Love that! All the best on this walk in the woods!

Hello Taylor -- Sending all best wishes for this your SECOND AT trek. Good for you. Although I've never hiked the AT, I have bicycled cross-USA (first time in 1993, second time 1999) ... loved every minute of it ... both times. About a mile after Springer Mountain is a crossing point full of vehicles and the Ranger. For some reason many hikers start there. At My Katadin the start point seems to be the commercial campground about ten miles after the Rangers. One hiker even left the shuttle in the town before Katadin and walked along the roads to the campsite. Skippers.

Hi Taylor, I just started watching your hike on the AT. I had always wanted to do that. I'm 68 years old and I've had several heart surgeries and cancer so I doubt I'll be able to make the trek. My brother lives in Tennessee and we drove to a stretch of the AT and we walked about 100 yards. Not much to be sure but I was on the trail! I watched the first two days of your hike and I will watch more, I'm kind of hiking it via you. Thanks! Keep hiking!!

Just watched your video about knee pain. Voltaren (diclofenac) is a topical gel that helps my arthritic knees. Comes in small travel size tubes. Just a thought in case the knee issue flares up. It might be an alternative instead of taking oral meds. Cheering you on and have great confidence you'll be in Maine before you know it!!

My son and I camped at the Hawk Mountain campground last month on a section hike. We were the only two people there. It's always awesome but strangely eerie being the only people in a place designed for lots of people. The next day we found out that the Hawk Mountain shelter and tent areas surrounding were completely packed, so I'm glad we chose the campground.
