Hi Conor, just wanted to say I've been extremely impressed with your content and it's helped me a lot in my training. As a fairly banged up firefighter from years of service, I can say a lot of your videos have provided instant relief to some issues. Please keep doing what you're doing. You're helping more people than you realize!

Hi Conor, I continue to think that you are a genius. And the best teacher to boot. This one is a particularly valuable video since it features a whole succession of exercises focusing on a single often intractable problem for a lot of people.😊❤ Nicholas

Thank you, Conor! My right hip acts up from time to time, and the first two exercises were a huge relief. Then I tried the third one, and whatever goes awry in there got triggered again. So I'll just do the first two. 🙂

Conor has addressed this issue before but my physio gave me different advice that you can try too. Stretching front of the hip muscles can reduce pulling of the hip forward. So take a long step forward and raise the arm of the forward leg vertical. Then repeat with turning the torso to left and right with the arm parallel to the ground. Conor suggested checking if leg internal rotation is limited. It is for me. Conor has shown an exercise for this in a previous video. If you type leg internal rotation exercise on KZbin you probably find exercises. Another thing I have seen on YT physio channels is pushing SI joint back as well as bra rear horizontal strap.

hey dude, appreciate the video and help. Question, what about after doing these (and it feels better) your back becomes flatter. How flat is to flat of a back? I've heard thats actually a problem having a "flat back" syndrome, and I dont want to go to that extreme. TY Conor
@shaynaformity13844 күн бұрын
Hey dave, that's a good question. One way to check is, when standing, place a broomstick or long wooden dowel behind you, one part will touch your sacrum, another part will touch somewhere in your upper back. You might or might not be able to touch the dowel with the back of your head. Hold the dowel/broomstick with the fingers of one hand between your neck and the dowel, and the other hand should be able to hold the dowel with the back of your hand against your lower back and the dowel in your palm. If there's space for your hand, your back is not too flat. If the dowel is touching your low back, it's too flat and you should rotate your pelvis until you get a little space there to slide your hand into. I hope this helps.

I dont feel any streach somehow i do these exercises wrong
@shawnogg820820 күн бұрын
When that is the case with me l do normal things that challenge the muscles ( running, lifting, whatever) first. Then I feel the tightness and a stretch. Of course not If there is acutely pain that prevents such activities. I doubt you can do that wrong except you don’t notice your lower back or ribs compensating.

@oskarbackstrom974821 күн бұрын
According to this a tight psoas would externally rotate femurs and create increased lordosis and ATP? Isn’t that opposite to what externally rotated hips/femurs usually does to posture? A more posterior pelvic tilt.
@woodnymph306317 күн бұрын
Either one depending upon which fibers are more activated...and the width of the hips. Women go anterior and men go posterior.
@donpetering51424 күн бұрын
Perhaps the brain is telling the psoas to be tight for protection because it is weak.

Unfortunately, all these exercises do nothing for me. My left psoas tightens up again within half an hour. But I found out why: my tongue pulls to the right, probably because my atlas is misaligned. When I press my tongue to the left against the roof of my mouth and tense my facial muscles on the right, my left diaphragm and left psoas automatically relax. I just don't yet know how to achieve this state permanently.
@MickeJ9720 күн бұрын
You should check out a channel called stop chasing pain. Maybe he can be of some help
@liamo893220 күн бұрын
If it fixes it for half an hour then you can't say it does nothing. Try doing the stretches consistently over time instead of expecting instant results. You are not a piece of clay that can just be re-moulded instantly
@TheGarugc20 күн бұрын
@@liamo8932 Conor's exercises are all great. But I do his psoas exercises since months and there is no improvement for me. As I have already explained, it is not the psoas that is the problem, but my tongue, which has a direct influence on the diaphragm and therefore on the psoas. So until the cause is fixed, people like me can relax the psoas every day for years and never succeed.
