Great advice. I guess I was lucky with my Amazon. I was never once bitten. But, my bird did not like males. She liked my mother and other females. My Amazon also did not like my Timneh. I could never have them out at the same time. You mentioned the fanning tail! I had forgotten that. My Amazon loved to settled on top of me if I was on the sofa. She would totally relax and fall asleep. 😊

Based on my experience with my Amazons, if yours would fall asleep on you, she LOVED you! That’s awesome! Yeah, I wouldn’t have Lorenza and Bliss (Timneh) out at the same time either.

Lorenza really is a bird with a lot of personality! Such a happy amazon. It's hard to imagine having a bird that wouldn't let other people in the house though! I've never had a bird that was such a one person bird, though I've met a particularly grumpy green-cheeked conure who despised me from the minute he met me. Right on the other end of the scale was our old lorikeet, Delacroix.... she was up for every party and insisted on meeting everyone for a selfie. A true 'everyperson' bird.

Interesting! I’ve never gotten into Lorikeets because of their diet (so that I could easily give out/prepare breakfast and food). I did meet a Yellow-striped Lori that I loved on my visit to Butterfly world… They seem like very happy birds who know how to enjoy life, like a Caique! Yeah, Lorenza is amazing - she’s like a shark with everyone and then like a kitten with me. The bond is similar to the bond I have with Aurabella, but Aurabella (Umbrella Cockatoos) is like a person!

@@ParrotBliss Yes, I've never kept caiques (they cost upwards of $2,000 in Aus) but from the videos I've seen and what I'v read, they are very similar to lorikeets in personality and behaviour. They do the same bouncing and silly walks and generally love attention. American websites call caiques "the clowns of the bird world". Australian websites use the same phrase for lorikeets, verbatim.
