Absolutely, the love is stronger- when you get past the loss, which I’m not. Sometimes I do feel more love in my heart, but mostly I feel a hole - and both are gold/yellow from her.

You know, what just came to me is what if you gave all your emotions some airtime and attention just like you give all the members of your flock some attention each day. Some people massage or tap where it hurts, run a hot bath, scream into a pillow, write a letter, do some painting, light a candle, bake a cake or whatever feels right for themself, their culture, spiritual beliefs or their loved one. Of course you are doing your own things already, but just in case it's difficult to see through the fog of tears in some moments. You can find your way 🕊️💚

@@ParrotBliss I’ve been real busy and have tried to get on the forum with no luck so far. I’ll keep trying. As far as your pain I TOTALLY get it. We lost Mango about the time you lost Binks. We had him for 4 months but there was something wrong from the start. My two new ones we’ve had for over a year and they are sick but getting better. I’m beginning to think that some over breeding is happening and many genetically sick or virally sick birds are being sold. Did you consider giving Bonnie a necropsy to see what happened? I know that’s hard but it would maybe clear the mystery? Once again, my heart goes out to you I know how you feel.

Growing up and over the decades, I never had any real connection to birds. They just didn't seem to have any personality or affection or intelligence. However, as I've grown older, and we got a conure, I realized I was completely wrong about all of that. They are very intelligent, very affectionate, and have very distinct personalities. Our little bird is as much a part of the family as our dogs, cats, and any other pets, and losing her would be very sad. Condolences on the loss of your family member.

I hope you know that we are all supporting you in your grief. Non bird people just don't get the level of love that birds give. Golden Conures are a real rarity in Canada. I have only ever come across one or two breeders. As far as if anyone offers an Eclectus to you, with your experience, you can handle it no problem. I have two, and once you get into the routine of the diet it really is not that big of a deal.

Yes Bruce, they are like people, our birds. A part of me felt horrified, closer to what I’m guessing it would be like to lose a child. I noticed this in myself and was surprised. Thank you for posting and being with me, I feel it. I’m not surprised that Goldens are rare in Canada; they can be found here in Florida, but they aren’t common and they are over $5,000. It is ridiculous if you are buying and fair if you are breeding. They aspirate easily and require a crazy diet as babies, plus you have to have at least 3 to breed them, generally speaking. Do you have a male and female Eckie? What do you feed them? No eggs, right?

@@ParrotBliss I do have a brother and sister pair, although from different clutches. You are correct no eggs and no pellets. They have chop in the morning, the current one has sweet potato, beet, broccoli, kale, purple cabbage, dandelion. They also get sprouts everyday (that I sprout), and a bit of fruit (usually green apple or some berries). At dinner time they get some frozen veg (peas, carrot, beans and a bit of corn) and pomegranate. At bedtime they get a piece of walnut an almond and a bit of plain budgie seed that has no additives. The walnut and almond are soaked overnight as it makes it easier for them to take the nutrients out of the nuts when they are soaked.
