Did you finish the PANRE-LA? Share your experience and your thoughts here!

I finished quarter 8 of PANRE-LA today. Each quarter I missed more than I thought I would but looking at my PANRE reports going back 24 years I stayed pretty consistent in my “pass” percentage. I definitely learned more with the PANRE-LA by reading through all the correct and incorrect answers but I can understand the appeal of getting PANRE done in one day.

I love that you mentioned this. Because we can actually see what we get wrong, it can "mess with the head" more than the regular PANRE where we just get a final score. It's interesting to hear that when you compared pass percentage you stayed relatively the same! I try to advise people to review their wrong answers so they can learn, but not fixate on them! Thank you so much for sharing your experience and thoughts with us and congrats on being done!

Thank you so much! I really do appreciate this.

I had a good experience doing it. Low pressure. Much better than having to sit and do the recert in one day.

I agree. It is definitely a much more relaxed way to take it! Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Five minutes is not long enough to use several searches. If I got a question right I didn’t read thr reason I got right I just moved on to the next question. Did I learn anything, no! Even if I guessed the question and got it right I just glanced at the answer they gave and moved on, if I would have more time looking up an answer I would read more about the issues involved even though I spent the last 25 years in dermatology. There were some questions in internal med that I just didn’t know or understand because they were things that were complicated and even 5 minutes wouldn’t be enough time to find an answer to. Having spent the last 25 years in derm I felt the questions were not that hard. Most of the questions were basic internal med questions that my PA program drilled into my head even though it was from the “old days” 1980s for me, I am sure the newer programs over more than my program ever did so it should be easier for the new generation of PAs. I will admit I did not study for any of the quarters, many of the questions seemed familiar having taken the recert 5 times before which I did study for and passed, this test was way less stressful. Over all I though it was an “easy” test but after spending the last 40

I agree. I would spend more time reading, getting a more in-depth understanding if I had more time.

Is it possible to get the time limit changed? I am good for the next 10 years and at 76 I don’t think I’ll skip that one! But for those who will have to continue taking the test it would! Great videos!!
@TheMedicineCouchАй бұрын
@@wmbrennan That is entirely up to NCCPA. However, I discussed that point with them at well. I believe they said that there needed to be a time limit to make the test "legitimate" or something like that. Sorry, I don't remember what they said exactly. I love your point thought. I have thought that many times myself when I'm looking for an answer I don't know. I would love to read a little deeper and solidify the knowledge as I'm doing the question, because I know I will likely not go back and study it later.

Four quarters in, no regrets, no need to study.

Great! I appreciate you sharing your perspective. Best wishes on the rest of the test.

I took the good ole' fashioned PANRE because I knew that I would procrastinate in answering PANRE-LA questions over such a lengthy period!😮💨 Thank the Lord I passed it so, I'm good until 2034! 😁👍🏽👋🏽👨🏽⚕️ I'll be 66 and maybe retired by that time.👨🏽🦳

Yes, people definitely need to think about their personality and what works best for them. There is certainly something to be said for just getting it done in one fell swoop! And yes, hopefully you will be retired by then!

I wanted to ask if anyone has used smarty pance for their Panre-LA resources? If yes, how do you search for answers on the website? By topics?
@TheMedicineCouch23 күн бұрын
SmartyPANCE was the main reference source that I used for the full two years of taking the PANRE-LA. I found it to be very helpful. In this video below, I have a short tutorial on how to use it. You can check the timestamps below the description box to go directly to the tutorial if you don’t want to watch the whole video. Also, there is a coupon code in the description box for 10% off of SmartyPANCE. I do plan on making a video in the next couple of months that is more about, figuring out how to approach a question and figure out the keyword to focus on for your search. In that video, i’ll be using the SmartyPANCE search tool. So keep an eye out for that! kzbin.info/www/bejne/npLOnKCtaLGpmMksi=6J73fJRCCXQCZsW4

The test was to long, you should be able to do all the quarters as you want. There should be no time limit on the questions as you are just looking up answers and not learning anything. The answers they give are not very good and don’t really explain anything.
@TheMedicineCouchАй бұрын
I feel that 200 questions could definitely be done in one year. When I talk to NCCPA about this, I explained some thing about the test needing to last a certain length of time to qualify as a “longitudinal assessment”. I’m sure it’s all more complicated than it seems, but I think most of us definitely think that it should be one year max in length. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us.
