Practice tests are a great tool, the handbook is great for fines and laws. Make sure to remember the fines and laws for example, on my test I had: punishment for abandoning animals on the highway, Children under 8 years old may ride in the front seat of a vehicle in a federally-approved child passenger restraint system under the following instance, punishment for hit and run. Im not sure if this well help anyone, but I did not pass the first time I took the permit test, because I did not focus on numbers enough. I feel like the practice tests i took did not prepare me, on the drivers permit test they ask you ALOT of questions about numbers and fines that I did not think were on the test For example some of the exact questions I got on my test were, “how many inches should your wheels be from the curb when parked” or “how many feet can you drive in a bike lane”, I took drivers ed and studied really hard the first time and still did not pass the first time i did not pass the test because I did not memorize these numbers and facts. They also ask you about DUIs, and laws one question I got on the test was, “ how much will you be fined if you dump an animal on a highway”. I just wanted to say this because I’ve been seeing a lot of people saying this test is easy and common sense, which is why I went in thinking I was going to pass the first time, its not a difficult test so don’t be nervous, but it requires some studying not just common sense. The second time (which is today) I passed, after I studied the DMV handbook throughly (which took about 2 days including notes) and took several practice tests! Good luck, you guys got this!

A lot of the test is common sense, but then there are the other questions with numbers, distances, administrative rules, etc. that you have to study and memorize. Reading the handbook is so important to really increase your chances of passing. I'm so glad that you passed, CONGRATS to you on your persistence and the way you prepared for your second test!! Just took the test in California. Half of the questions are ridiculous now. “If you’re on a two way street and you’re approaching a single car passing, who has the right of way?” A. The person driving downhill B. The person driving uphill C. The person closest to the area … I guess we’re on a hill. It’s B, btw. They’ll also toggle between questions asking who has the right away and who doesn’t have the right of way for absolutely not reason. Questions about maximum sentences. “If you injure a person while fleeing a cop what is the maximum sentence?” A. 5 years B. 9 years C. 7 years ✅ And my personal favorite: Confusing questions with no diagrams. “If you’re driving on a two way street and are turning into a one way street, at a T intersection, which curb should you be closest to?” What?!? Which way am I turning?

This is a good test to practice just remember that in the actual test the questions are completely randomized so practice on multiple videos. Am 18 so the test had 36 questions but if you’re 17 and under your test will be 46 questions and you can only get 6 (over 18) wrong and 8 (under 17) wrong, and if you fail the test you can take it again right away up to 3 times. If you fail and you’re 17 and under you will have to wait to take it again not sure how long. And just make sure you understand the questions because they might be reworded.And make sure you go over the drivers hand book and if you’re to lazy to read just search up california drivers handbook audio and sit back, relax and listen. And there are no tricky questions. Also if you get a question wrong it tell’s you immediately.

Let me say these videos help so much. As a visual learner, these vids helped me vision the situation and get the correct answer. I started studying yesterday and just binged ten of these videos. I did practice tests but did bad on them, but the thing is those questions weren’t even on the knowledge test. Okay, friends, I have things to tell! I just took my permit test not 10 minutes ago. So there are 2 tests, kinda, one that is pretty short and is incredibly easy, just the basics. Then you have you 50 question test, and they are more complicated. To those of you who just go for it, don't, just press skip on the ones you are on the fence about and come back to it at the end of the test. I skipped about 8 questions, and then by the time I was back to the question I got them all right. I passed my test with 7 wrong out of 50. Breathe, tell yourself you got this, you can do it. I KNOW you do. Btw this test was done in wisconsin. idk if it's the same in every state

@@talamomani3474 In CA, the DMV will offer to give you the computerized test by default. On the computerized test, you can only skip 3 questions and then will be able to answer the 3 skipped questions at the very end. However, you can request a paper version of the test instead of the computerized test and the DMV has to give you the paper version. With the paper test version, you can skip as many questions as you want, moving around the test freely, reviewing it whenever and however you want to. If you don't like taking tests on computers, I recommend asking for the paper test!

Having to retake my written so thank you soo much for this video. Funny story about the limit line (#18), when I took my driving test I got marked down for stopping before the line like shown in the photo. The instructor told me I was stopping too far back even though the front of the vehicle was right before it. There was even a pedestrian crossing during one of the stops and no marked crosswalk in the area so I couldn't sit on top of the line without pushing them into the intersection.

Oh wow, thank you for sharing that! Just goes to show you that you never know exactly what another person is seeing (or thinking) from their point of view, especially the DMV examiner! Hopefully the examiner only deducted a point off and didn't fail you. Stay safe out there!

Yk these questions are awesome and helpful but everytime I’ve taken the permit test I’ve gotten such out of pocket questions that aren’t on any of the practice tests like “what’s the speed limit for pulling a trailer” or “where can you put stickers on your car” and I never have those ones memorized 😭😭

Hello and thanks for sharing! That's tough when you get questions that you haven't seen before - the DMV has a huge pool of test questions and every test they generate is random. The best advice I can give you is read the DMV handbook a few times - literally everything covered on the test in the Handbook. While the practice tests can be a huge help, taking practice tests AND reading the handbook a few times is your best bet! Keep your head up, you'll pass that test soon... we are pulling for you and know you can do it!!

Just read the full book if you want to pass on first attempt it’s 140 pages book in total and totally free. When they ask you about how much fine / how many days /how many inches so on……these type of questions you can guess you can only answer if you know them or you have red it from book.

The correct answer was probably something about this: Create more space in front of your vehicle when: Following motorcyclists on metal surfaces (bridge gratings, railroad tracks, etc.), and gravel. That topic is covered in section 8 (Safe Driving) of the CA DMV Handbook here: www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/handbook/california-driver-handbook/safe-driving/, I have pasted it below for convenience: Tailgating (Following Too Closely) Tailgating makes it harder for you to see the road ahead because the vehicle in front of you blocks your view. You will not have enough time to react if the driver in front of you brakes suddenly. Use the three-second rule to ensure a safe following distance and avoid a collision. Following other vehicles at a safe distance gives you enough time to react if another driver makes a mistake. If a vehicle merges in front of you too closely, take your foot off the accelerator. This creates space between you and the vehicle ahead. Create more space in front of your vehicle when: A tailgater is behind you. Maintain your course and speed. Then, when safe to do so, merge right to change into another lane and allow the tailgater to pass. *Following motorcyclists on metal surfaces (bridge gratings, railroad tracks, etc.), and gravel.*

Come to a stop if you are unable to merge? Who ever write the test never drive a truck. In the northeast, we have many real short entrance ramps. I use the shoulder if it’s wide enough for me. It takes my loaded (80,000 lbs) truck, a mile on a level road, just to get up to 55 mph. If I had to come to a stop, nobody behind me would be able to get on. Answer the question the way they want, to pass. There was a Quonset the cdl test about what do you do if you have a hot tire. The answer they wanted was to remove the tire 50-100 ft from the trailer. The only problem is most trucks don’t carry jacks and lug wrenches. You call tire service!
