Also your mystery gift IR pain really brought back memories: I had a GBA, everyone else had a GBC, I had hoped mystery gift would work with a link cable (which I had already been caught out before with needing a GBC link cable with Pokémon Silver even when both consoles were GBAs); and wasted many school lunchtimes trying to get it to work. Then it worked between two GBCs and I realised Nintendo had taken out that compatibility, despite everyone saying the GBA had total compatibility. 🙃 ... but that just made me all the more excited about the Pokéwalker those years later, finally getting to actually do an IR transfer of something, lol

Fun fact about the colour/color thing-the reason why is because in the colonial days of America, newspapers were priced by the letter, so newspaper writer omitted some silent letters (such as the U in colour) from letters to save on printing costs. Thanks for using the Serebii Pokémon Pikachu section! I wrote it. Pikachu does come back if you shake it. I had to do it a lot in coverage. Best way to shake is from the angle your dad was shaking them. Not side to side. Just got to keep at it for a while not in short bursts like you seemed to do. Also, the Pocket Pikachu are virtual pets, or pedometer pets, not Tamagotchi. The device is made by Nintendo, Bandai make Tamagotchi.
