The Cinderalla Story of the 2007 New York Giants football team. A team that shouldn't have even made the playoffs, somehow managed to create one of the most improbable and unlikely run the sports world has ever seen.

One thing that should've been added to this was Plax's prediction of the Giants winning 23-17 and Brady's interview where he says "We're only going to score 17 points? Hahaha, okay. Is Plax playing defense?" and then cut to the end of the game where they only score 14 🤣🤣🤣

They didn't just do it once, but twice. Eli's got TWO rings. While Aaron Rodgers who is supposed to be one of the greatest QBs ever - only has one. and has choked in every other big game and yet no one gets down on him like they do Eli. I mean Favre was an interception MACHINE and you didn't mention THAT when Webster picked him off. Sh!t, NO Qb was better that postseason than Eli. I am a lifelong Giants fan and I purposely did NOT watch the Super Bowl as I can't tolerate pain. I hated the Pats and Brady as well. But my wife was traveling in NYC, and she called me right after the game screaming her head off. I immediately told her to cease speaking. What? Could it be? The Giants did NOT lose to the Pats? I then watched the game, and the stress was almost unbearable, even though I kind of knew they had won. Watching this great video was still stressful. It never goes away as it is so unlikely for the Giants win. I can never pray for another miracle again, as I think I've more than used up my allotment.

I just loved hearing how all the experts were betting against the giants in every playoff game writing them off almost instantly. It felt so good to see that NY logo on that helmet raised at the end of each game in victory. Yea we started 0-2 and finished the whole season at 10-4 including the playoffs and superbowl at 14-4 far from subpar !!!! That was a tough great football team in 2007 !

The Eli to Plax connection could’ve been a top 5 QB/WR duos of the 00’s if he hadn’t shot himself. It’s remembered now as a classic meme, guys look, Plax shot himself hahaha, but if you look at the numbers, the Giants were likely going back to back before he was gone for the last half of the season, and beyond that it’s anyone’s guess. He missed two years after the incident, imagine what he could’ve done for the giants in those two years. He may very well have resigned and stayed with the gmen. Imagine a veteran Plax, Cruz, Nicks, and Manningham. Are you fucking kidding me? What a fucking WR room that would’ve been!

@tomknapp6194
@tomknapp6194 8 ай бұрын
@@theog2306 The defense did their part in helping Eli? That's f***ing hysterical! Eli still barely won 5/8 games by 4 points or less. Here are the facts: Eli never beat a single playoff team that scored more than 20 points. In 2011, the Giants defense in the playoffs allowed 14 points per game. If that were the entire season, that would be the #1 defense in the league. Eli still barely won 5/8 games in 2007 and 2011. Seriously, he wasn't that good. And the whole "most yards in a postseason" thing".... Just answer a simple question. Does a QB have a chance to have more yards in 3 or 4 games? That's a no brainer. So, let's take in consideration all the QBs that had no chance at 4 games and say the average yards for any QB that played 3 or 4 games. That seems fair doesn't it. After all, the best QBs in the league had a bye and no chance at having 4 games. But, you should have a problem with that. If you go by average yards/game, Eli is no longer in the top 10. He's 14th overall. In yards/attempt, he's 19th overall. Just because he had more chances to throw, does not mean he was better, as these stats clearly show. But, let's really drive this point home. Brady almost broke that record. Twice. In THREE games. He fell less than 100 yards short both times. About 5 other QBs were less than 200 yards away from breaking it also, but only played in 3 games. While it sounds great on the surface, it is just another smokescreen of Eli's career. The headlines sound great, but the actual facts fall way short of being great. What else do you have. sunshine?

I think you have to take the negativity around this team in context. They were a top 5 rushing team and top 5 pass rushing team, and the QB was excellent off play action, all things we look for today in a good team. Tom Coughlin also was MUCH more modern than his image gave off. Coughlin loved getting the ball vertical, wasn't afraid of high scoring games, was an EXCELLENT in-game tactician and always used his time-outs well and controlled the middle eight, and he might even still hold the record for best percentage of successful challenge flags. Toxic masculinity is real, and I'm afraid there will always be a contingency of people that can't get past Eli's facial expressions or Coughlin barking orders. They didn't transform into a magic carpet ride in the playoffs, rather they were simply great at the things that win playoff games.

I think your comment about the INT in the super bowl by Eli was really kind of stupid and shows that you actually didn't even watch the game. If you actually watch that game you clearly saw Eli Manning throw the ball to Steve Smith who should have caught it but he bobbled it and it was intercepted. So you should go back and say an INT caused Smith not handling the ball properly. Again really stupid comment

@loganb8789 after watching the first time they played, game 16, that season, and the Superbowl, NY was the better team at that point. You call it getting hot. As someone who coaches, all the way from youth to Junior College sports, I call it improving as the season went on. NY got better. Started doing the little things better. NE wasn't as efficient as they were earlier in the season and had several scares toward the end of the season. Like against the Ravens, the Colts, the Eagles, and even the Giants. The Pats never got better and many teams caught up with them. They weren't dominant at the end of the season. The teams they whipped up on the last 6 weeks weren't playoff teams,, except the Steelers. All the playoff teams, they won the game by 3 or less. If we compare that to the 85 Bears. Except for Miami being hot in week 13 and beating them, they had no game decided that close, all season long. I believe the closest was 6 points, once. The rest by a TD and an extra point or more. I'm not saying that Pats team wasn't great, but they aren't as dominant as their record showed.

The Giants were not a sub par team, really stupid comment. The Giants were the better team and the game should not have been that close given how they were beating the patriots up prior to start of 4th quarter.

Great video! You forgot to add one little caveat that made winning the super bowl that much more special. The patriots were caught cheating that off-season and were royally PISSED at the rest of the league and smacked everyone on their way to an undefeated season. The rest of the league rooted for the Giants because they didn’t want the NFL’s Evil Cheating Empire to go undefeated. Patriots fans would’ve had bragging rights the sports world would not be ready for. Greatest season ever!

This was my absolute favorite season as a Giants fan. My expectations were low because the entire team was shaky, and besides, everybody knew the Patriots were going to win it all that year. I remember wishing the G-Men would just get their shit together. And then all of a sudden, around the week 16 Buffalo game, it started. And it just...kept...going. What a wonderful ride it was.

All my family are Giants fans. I even had a Tiki jersey during this time. But I am a Jets fan. I have no hate towards the team or their fans kuz i had to grew up one. To me, it's awin-winn if a New York team wins. But I remember watching this run. Simply amazing with drama and suspense. I think I was 16 or 17 and that second to last play. I thought it was over Eil was sacked or the refs will blow the Whistle. But the throw, the catch on the helmet and then win. I didn't cheer and shout. But I was definitely happy they won and the Pat's lost.

they had 50/50 odds in this game.....and a great pass rush...didn't turn the ball over ( but Samual had a chance to make a tough int ) and got healthy and got hot......the bookies lost this game, everybody took the giants and the points.........they had a 10 point 4 quarter lead in week 17 if I remember correctly...should have won that game too !

Man that game was crazy. Don’t forget how good that giants defense played, Osi, Tuck and Strahan pressured Brady the whole game and spags called some creative blitzes in key moments that the giants executed. Brady got sacked a bunch and even if he got the ball out he was still taking hits. The giants don’t win this game unless the pass rush got to TB and threw his timing off. They definitely executed, even on the Pats last possession going for a Hail Mary, Jay Alford rushed up the middle and sacked TB for a huge loss.

People don't give that front 4 the credit they deserve. They're the reason the Giants won BOTH their superbowls. You don't think if Peyton, Brees, & Rodgers would've made more superbowls if they had the dominant players at the line of scrimmage like the Giants had defensively?

Credit where credit’s due; the 07 Giants did what no other team could and Eli deserves to be in the Hall of Fame just by making the 07 Patriots the only 18-1 team to not win the Super Bowl BUT the Patriots weren’t quite the same team after “Super Bowl 41.5”. The juggernaut of the first half of the season was almost figured out by the Colts, Eagles AND Ravens to start the second half and the massive blowouts where they scored 30-40 points a game turned into much closer affairs while putting up only 20-30. Yes, the 2007 New York Giants were a Cinderella run for the ages but, at least in regards to cracking the code to the Patriots, they owe a lot to the teams that gave them the blueprints. Again, massive props for even getting themselves to that position in the first place AND being the only team to be able to successfully exploit the weaknesses exposed by the affirm aforementioned teams but those teams shouldn’t be disregarded completely.

Also people never want to talk about the system Eli was playing under. Gilbride was running an off shoot of the run and shoot offense that involves high risk and high reward kind of play. Add in how Eli was also willing to take risks to save a play if things goes wrong with the pocket, there's bound to be high risk of turnovers. That system works best when both QB and the targets were on the same page which if goes right can be nearly impossible to defend against but if goes wrong, you know where that goes. Guys like Brady and Peyton would have had trouble with that system as well. I doubt it's a coincidence that outside of 2011, Eli's best statistical seasons were 2014 and 2015 after the Giants switched to West Coast offense.

Beautiful! Whether they ever played in New Haven or New Jersey, the New York Football Giants of 07 and 11 formed the perfect bookends to the 69 Mets and Jets (let’s leave dem bums and the Yanks out of it for now)- as epitomizing the Spirit of New York and the best of American society and of the entire Western Civilization

@@viciousvigilante4985 Not to mention you have sports media feeding the Browns fans' delusions that their team could have beaten the 1986 Giants had they got to the SB. FFS that Browns team barely gotten past an injury depleted Jets team with a help from a late hit penalty in what should have been the end of the game. What the Giants would do to the Broncos, the Browns would have gotten abused even moreso.
