Shot it at range day and it shoots very well. Trigger with the block is not an issue at all. I love the elimination of the grip safey however i wasn't as big a fan of the grip as I wanted to be. With my large hands it felt like I had to reach down with my trigger finger to put it on the trigger and it was up against the top of the trigger guard. I suspect/hope a longer trigger/LOP will help that for me. Overall the quality and fit and finish of the gun felt fantastic and I plan to add one as the 4th Staccato in my collection.

Probably everything about these two initial models is specifically to cater to the demands of LE and special forces. The 4 inch slide or 4 inch slide with a .5 inch sight block allows it to have that higher cyclic rate. And its model purpose also gives a reason as to why it has no porting or a comp. I believe that LE and special forces tend not to like comps or porting because of the elevated flash. And comps tend to make guns a little finnicky. And I imagine porting tends to make them a bit dirtier. But nonetheless, they will definitely come out with separate models with all the features of the HD with porting or or comps or longer slides. However, I feel the current 4.5 pretty much is perfection.

How is the trigger press compared to a GOOD, match quality 1911/2011 trigger? Can you feel some mush from the firing pin block? Will it be able to be tweaked to be as good as a high quality match 2011 and will that require removing the FPB stuff in order to get the trigger to that level (which may or may not be allowed by the rules, depending on what organization one competes with)?
@TheHumbleMarksman3 күн бұрын
It feels like a regular staccato trigger - which don’t feel like match 2011 triggers.
@stuartv6663 күн бұрын
@@TheHumbleMarksman right. The question is twofold: Can you feel ANY mush from the firing pin block. What you said in the video and in this reply implies "no". Do you think, in your experienced opinion, whether the HD trigger will be able to be modified and improved to be as good as a match 2011 trigger, without removing/defeating any of the built-in safety measures (e.g. the firing pin block)? I feel like the answer would have to be no. The HD will never be able to have as good a trigger as a current, high-end match 2011 - unless you remove the firing pin block. It just seems like nobody wants to say that out loud and risk hurting Staccato's feelings.

@@stuartv666Good questions, I believe as Staccato stated that this gun is a more duty’s oriented gun. With the Glock mag compatibility, better optic cut, no back strap safety and the firing pin block safety. Making it more drop safe. Why would someone who would buy a staccato worry about glock mags?
@M1911jln4 күн бұрын
Because 2011 magazines are suboptimal for 9mm. 2011 magazines are longer than necessary for 9mm, because the 2011 was designed for 45 ACP. As a result, 2011s have very large grip circumference. By going to a Glock pattern magazine, the grip circumference can be made smaller, making the gun’s grip fit more hands. For me, the big advantage isn’t the cost of the magazines. The big advantage is the smaller grip.
@TheHumbleMarksman4 күн бұрын
Dudes who typically carry Staccatos in an LE context are your SWAT guys - the patrol officers carry Glocks. They have mag commonality with all the officers in the area. They wanted a gun that manipulated with one hand, could be reconfigured to work with either hand, and have compatibility with all the other guns in their departments fleet.
@FoulPet4 күн бұрын
@@M1911jlnwhy not design your own mags? They designed a 3k gun. SIG came up with a new mag design. HK mags work fine in HK pistols. Sure, they are plentiful and cheap, but if you're dropped 3k, I doubt cheap is something you're worried about.
@FoulPet4 күн бұрын

@@FoulPetBecause that is expensive and time consuming, and will result in the gun requiring proprietary, expensive magazines. It is far better for them to choose an existing, reliable magazine than to develop their own proprietary magazines. Magazine development is a difficult, expensive, and time consuming process. Talk to USPSA competitors about their expensive 2011 magazines, how they require tuning to work properly, how the feed lips are easily damaged, and how they clean the magazines every time they drop them on a dusty range.

This seems like such an odd choice. Metal Glock mags!? So it likely will not work with existing Glock mags, but they had to change the grip to the Glock angle. They’ve also added ribs to the mags to mimic the thickness of a Glock mag, so they’re not even getting the grip as slim as possible. CZ75, P320, P365 or B92 mags all would have made more sense.
@TheHumbleMarksman4 күн бұрын
the Mecgar mag is a nicer mag - it's the same length as a OEM mag but has an extra round - with how the mag cutouts are set up it will work with poly mag catches on Glocks no problem. The point wasn't to shrink down a glock mag - it was to make a metal - better - mag tube and the benefit of that is that it gets an extra round.
@atomicsmith4 күн бұрын
@ I totally agree these are probably superior to Glock mags. I stand by my original comment that there are already very well established metal mag platforms that are slimmer, have a more traditional grip angle, and have a better capacity (beretta 92 for instance). Heck the 21 round X-macro mags are probably the same length as these, and slimmer. Is there anyone in the market for a $2700 duty setup that is trying to skimp on $40 mags?? Are existing glock mags even going to be durable in this HD gun?
@nmbr1robb3 күн бұрын
He already commented earlier that even though it uses a Glock-dimensioned magazine, it ISN’T a Glock angle grip. It’s same as their other models (1911 angle).
@atomicsmith3 күн бұрын
@ The Glock magazine has a different insertion angle from most other mags. It has definitely changed the blackstrap angle. I checked it on handgunhero. A lot of people call the glock angle “1911” when it doesn’t have the glock hump, but it is not exactly the same. 1911 is usually listed as 19deg and Glock as 21.
