Maybe it’s just the fact that I’m getting older at a point where society gets worse and worse by the day, but I feel like 2013 was my example of the turning point for culture as a whole. If you really think about it, many of the people, events, franchises, etc that we obsess over today got their start in that year. BTS debuted, DC got into the cinematic universe game, politics started becoming as nihilistic as they are now with Rob Ford and missile tests (even though there were shades of it for decades beforehand; it just became more obvious in 2013 imo); in retrospect it’s like society was listening to the winds of change for the whole year

The Barclay's center had just opened up in Brooklyn and a friend of mine was working there and got me a ticket to go. Watching the VMAs live in person is soooooo much different than it is on TV. The crowd was not feeling Miley that night. The crowd in Brooklyn is vastly different than Manhattan hence why they never brought it back to Brooklyn.
