It's so weird that Britney didn't win a VMA until Piece of Me in 2008. She has very few VMAs and she is one of the faces of the award.

Britney Spears didn’t get a lot of love back in the day, she was just a pop artist that they thought wouldn’t last very long. I’m glad she proved them wrong.
@badvamp666

It's really gross how hateful a lot of people were toward her back then- it was almost like a badge of honor for some to be a Britney hater or something. And that's not even the stuff people said directly to her face. I can't believe that was commonplace only 20 years ago- I can't imagine that happening now...at least I would hope not. I'd like to think we've come further as a society since then, but I guess you never know

@@es-jm5fg Sadly, yes there is. In fact, it’s the version that was most frequently played on radio back when it came out. (I assume because, without her rap, the song is shorter, which radio stations prefer.)
@TechRyze
@TechRyze Жыл бұрын
@@radlee974 A lot of radio stations in the 90s wouldn’t play any songs containing rap. There are lots of no-rap versions of songs. In Manchester, UK, the radio station Galaxy 102 used to only play the no-rap version of Jay-Z’s Wishing on a Star - that’s how bad some stations were. That all suddenly changed after Eminem came along.
@radlee974
@radlee974 Жыл бұрын
@@TechRyze That fact about “Wishing On A Star” is WILD!! And I honestly wondered if that had something to do with it as well (or even majorly) as I do vaguely recall pop stations advertising the fact that they _didn’t_ play rap. (Though I could be misremembering that still. And I believe it was more along the lines of “We play _these musical genres_ specifically.”) Thank you for the info/correction! (Though I still believe there is _some_ merit to my statement I also believe that your reasoning is overall more accurate!)

Is ironic that Adam made such a thoughtful statement about sexual assault at show venues, while Diddy was busy assaulting as many women as he could at his parties. It's sickening how much praise and butt-kissing he got for 25+ years till he was finally exposed thanks to Cassie. Dude. The number one thing I have learned from your awards shows vids is that MTV DID BRITNEY SPEARS ABSOLUTELY DIRTY FROM JUMP. I cannot believe how many excellent vids she didn’t win for that were DEFINITIVELY played on their network grabbing them HELLA ratings at times. It’s insulting. And I say that not even being a true fan of hers. But just like Bravo and Nene, Sagittarians are NEVER given their due. DEC 2 here. Same as Brit. WE KNOW. 😂

Thanks for making this video man. I don't see how you think 1999 VMA's were a hot mess cause its all apart of the show to entertain people. Someone was kind enough to upload the full '99 VMA's showon here. I watched and i thought about the 90's that i missed so much. You should def do the 2001 VMA's then do the 2002 VMA's

Mary J Blidge gasped probably because she felt like a black artist should’ve won especially Lauryn Hill who had one of the biggest albums
