@sjohnson78795 жыл бұрын
I would have to disagree. Game changing is warranted when you can come up with original ideas and design aesthetics. The kia looks like a Range Rover and Volvo love child so not original at all. Kia looked at two popular SUVs and there you have it the Telluride. When I first saw it I was like are you kidding me. Range Rover and Volvo should sue I mean nothing is original looking about this SUV. Nothing game changing about that. Now the price tag for what you get for your money is a game changer, very affordable for the entry level trims. If anything the Palisades has a more original design than the Telluride although I do see some Volvo XC90 and GMC in that as well😕

@@sjohnson7879 Honestly, just stop. I'm not trying to be rude to a random person on youtube but just stop... everytime someone mentions something about a vehicle, somebody always has to make a comment about what it looks like and what it copied. The vehicles you mentioned ALSO copied something else, and those cars copied something else in turn. It's a neverending argument. Go drive these cars and you'll see how pointless of an argument that is. I own a Palisade, a M40i, a 328i xdrive, a rav4, and a gti. The palisade is by far the best vehicle in my fleet. Thank you for the review. I’ve watched several different reviews on this vehicle and there are a couple of things I’ve noticed they share in common. First, the white stripe that borders the inside of the tail lights is actually functional. Because all of the reviews are done in daylight, this feature is missed. However, at night with the headlights illuminated, this white strip illuminates with a subtle red light that really looks nice. Also, when lowering the third row seats, you don’t have to hold the buttons down. Just simply press the button and they will lower fully. Several reviewers have commented on how long it takes for these seats to lower and I would agree with that if you actually had to hold the button down.

Just bought a white limited for my wife yesterday. It was pretty hard to find in white locally. Its stunning in white, we just couldn't do the burgundy. I didn't drive it on the test drive, just my wife which was probable a good thing. My wife left me there to do the "negotiating". Had I driven it already, I would've ended up paying a lot more than I did, lol! Literally the nicest, most comfortable vehicle I've ever driven. I drove it home that evening and barely had to touch the steering wheel or pedals. The car pretty much drives itself, you can just sit back and chill to some satellite radio.

I’ve seen them in person and have sat in them and I gotta admit I was impressed by the looks, quality, and presence. How did they package so much space in a mid-size crossover??? That’s some clever and thoughtful design and engineering. And what’s up with Hyundai, Cadillac, BMW, etc with these giant grilles??? If you don’t need the luxury options like nappa leather, panoramic sunroof, alcantara headliner, high end stereo system, etc. you can just get the base car with awd for around $33K and it has all the safety systems and the clever packaging standard. I hear the upmarket Genesis version will be introduced this year. Hyundai/Kia should offer these cars with their excellent turbo diesel engines they offer in Asia/Europe. I don’t need more than 4-5 seats in my cars so I’m waiting for the Santa Fe N, Tucson N, or the Santa Fe diesel.

Jason Golden this doesn’t come close to the level of refinement or build quality of a Cadillac, Buick, Lexus, or Infiniti who are all more affordable than the German offerings in their respective segments. So I’d argue they already have competitive value propositions. It’s funny how you only listed the Americans and Japanese luxury brands as entities who should review their value propositions but failed to mention the Swedish (Volvo), Germans (BMW, Audi, Mercedes-Benz), and Indians (Tata Motors) some of which require you to purchase a $15,000 interior upgrade package just to get a ventilated seat. Along with the Telluride the Palisade is undeniably impressive, especially at an MSRP of less than $50k. There's hardly a feature or component they don't share and fully loaded top trims have MSRP's that are virtually the same. (A fully loaded Telluride SX with the "Prestige" package has an MSRP of $47,380 vs the Palisade's Limited trim at $47,495.) There are, however, some differences. () Styling. The relative appeal of the styling choices made by Palisade and Telluride designers reflect the fact that the Palisade is designed for an international market in Asia and Europe while the Palisade is designed exclusively for and built in North America. It's largely a matter of taste. Personally I find the exterior of the Palisade somewhat overstyled with too many curves and creases. Seems "fussy" compared to the Telluride. In the interior Hyundai apparently feels that diamond quilted soft materials denote luxury. It reminds me of the sofa in my grandmother's living room from 50 years ago. But it's a trendy choice in European luxury SUV's. Hyundai went with push button transmission control. Another trendy choice these days but it reminds me of a 1957 DeSoto. In addition the Hyundai offers paddle shifters that the Telluride lacks. Rather silly but necessary given that it's the only way to select and hold a specific gear with the push button gear selector. FInally, the Palisade boasts the slowest powered third row seat system on the planet. Some may find it "luxurious," especially those with arms like a T-Rex. Personally, I prefer the additional 3 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row the Telluride provides as a result of its manual system to be more valuable. All of those features reflect personal taste rather than functionality but there's one difference I'd argue reflects more than taste: the placement of the Palisade's headlights just above the bumper where they're more vulnerable to parking lot collisions as well as rocks and gravel thrown at great velocity from vehicles ahead. It's bad enough here in the Pacific Northwest to face replacement of a windshield every couple of years from rocks thrown by trucks that come down from the mountains in the Spring thaw. Regular replacement or adding protection to vulnerable headlights is simply annoying. () Performance and Fuel Efficiency. On these points the Palisade and Telluride are identical. But Nathan would like to see better mileage and performance from the Palisade. Wouldn't we all! 0-60 in under 6 seconds combined with 30 mpg would be great in a two ton plus crossover. But it ain't happenin', at least not in a vehicle propelled solely by a gasoline engine. As far as Hyundai and KIA are concerned their engines have historically been challenged in terms of fuel efficiency. It's one of their few weaknesses. Addressing that weakness was a priority for both the Palisade and the Telluride. The 3.8L NA V6 in the Korean vehicles is designed to use the Atkinson cycle to improve MPG's along with a small sacrifice in performance. Thus the EPA estimate of combined fuel efficiency in the Telluride and the Palisade (21 MPG) is the same as the that of the KIA Sorento, a V6 with half a liter smaller displacement and virtually identical performance. If EPA figures are to be trusted, a Honda Pilot (22 mpg) will cost about $100 more per year in fuel. An Ascent or a CX-9 (each with 23 mpg estimates) with turbo 4 mills will result in $150 a year in savings. We're not talking big dollars here even if the Turbo 4's live up to their estimates. (Typically turbo 4 bangers are challenged in matching their EPA estimates, especially in large, heavy vehicles where the temptation to use the turbo is especially great.) And personally, I'm inclined to trust the durability of a naturally aspirated V6 over a smaller displacement turbocharged four cylinder engine. In terms of pure performance there are other choices better than either the Palisade or the Telluride. And for those looking for a three row SUV they can take to track days or embarrass a rival from a stop light there are better choices. But that level of performance ranks about 20th among the top ten requirements of customers for vehicles like this. 0-60 acceleration in 7 to 7.5 seconds, especially when power is delivered smoothly and quietly, is far more important. Performance 3 row SUV's are out there. The Explorer ST and some versions of the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango come to mind. But the take rate of such vehicles is minuscule.

Hyundai and Kia are pushing innovation forward in this segment. With Toyota joining the larger 3-row segment, being a Toyota Suv owner, I'll wait to see if the new Highlander is revolutionary or just a styling change and mild tech increase. I'm hoping that the 2020 Highlander will be more of revolutionary than just the slightly restyled same old Highlander.

If only this had a 3 litre 6 cylinder diesel. You'd get torque AND good economy AND good towing ability. Petrol is so ew to drive with all that lack of torque in such large vehicles. To get the same torque with petrol you need a larger turbo petrol but then you have crazy bad fuel economy. Diesel people. Diesel. Clean diesels do actually exist and is the best type of engine for any vehicle.
@devinbender84285 жыл бұрын
SDav21 in the USA diesel cost nearly 50% more than Petrol.
@SDav215 жыл бұрын
@@devinbender8428 That's silly. Why? Because diesel is just better in these types of vehicles. Even in normal cars though. My uncle still has his 2 litre diesel Corolla. It transforms the car over the terrible 1.8 petrol model which has zero torque. And because it's diesel they can even tow a caravan with it. I guess you can with the 1.8 too but then it struggles. Especially at higher altitudes. Mercedes brought out new inline 6 diesel engines. 250kw (335hp) and 700nm (516 ft lbs) of torque. So nice and with great fuel economy and towing capability. The US is losing out on good engines.

Charles K HP Is a big deal. Especially in a 5,000 SUV empty let alone with a suv full of stuff and people. Kia/ Hyundai is seriously lacking in hP for these SUVs. The new Ford Explorer STARTS at 300hp and goes up to 400+ and then 500 in the Aviator
