I have a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. I went with the Tucson because I wanted AWD. It has been one of the biggest mistakes. The first was getting a Hyundai. They don’t care about their consumers. My car has been blowing headlights- having electrical issues (my auto windows go back down when you roll them up, my rear windshield wipers go off whenever they want, my break light seems to go on and off at random. I have reached out because as a company they should only want the best products out there. I was told that “because my car is over 3 years old. There is nothing they can do for me. To bring it to a dealer and “see what I can get” for it. I owe more than it’s worth because one thing they don’t tell you when you buy a Hyundai is they depreciate way faster than you can make payments to survive. DO NOT BUY A HYUNDAI.

Small things that are missing are a sunglass holder and a dual compartment console (most cars have done away with that but I used to use the top part for change and business cards). Besides that though, wouldn't change a single thing about it. The front looks better in-person imo, I've received quite a few compliments on the looks of the outside of the car. I mean, you need to consider what other cars at this pricepoints he is reviewing: either the performance models of budget cars (like Veloster N, civic-si) or sporty but fuel-hungry sedans from the German car makers. Base model sonata probably has enough performance for the average driver, but for him and the car enthusiasts watching this video it's definitely lacking, especially at the 30k+ price point

I'm still the first person I've seen in the California Bay Area owning or even driving a 2020 Sonata. It's a great car and Doug didn't mention a few things that are interesting: 1) If the car is locked, you press the lock button on the fob and then press and hold the "hold" button until the light on your car or the fob flashes once, you have remote start. 2) In the infotainment you can create a custom drive mode for yourself, so if you like a sport mode steering with normal mode driving then you can do that. 3) He mentioned the trunk button on the upper part of the H on the back but the smart trunk works if the car is locked, you walk to the back, the car beeps 4 times, and the trunk opens. The car ISN'T unlocked, it's still locked. But if you have the car unlocked then you have to use the button. 4) The seats are a bit hard but you get a premium cloth material that seems ti have a bit of a lotus affect in which water doesn't immediately absorb into it, giving you a chance to clean it. 5) The car as adaptive cruise control with a button on the steering wheel where it steers the car for you. You DON'T NEED to be in cruise control to use this, you can simply press the button, have the car steer itself while you manage the pedals. Perfect for breakfast on the go. I do agree that the trunk needs a little hand grip placement thing, my gf's 2020 Elantra has one inside, idk why I didn't get one :/. Great car overall.

Great review Doug! My wife has a 2020 Hyundai Sonata Limited and she loves the car. Two things I wanted to mention was the 10" navigation display has a 3-screen display from the factory that everyone loves. Hyundai provided a free software download update that unexpectantly eliminated the 3-screen display which really upset Hyundai Sonata owners. A lot of people purchsed the vehicle because of the 3-screen display. To my knowledge, Hyundai has not rolled back the software to display the 3-screens. If your Hyundai Sonata has the 3-screen display, do not update the software. The other quirk is that the upgraded 10" navigation display does not have wireless Android Auto. You still have to plug in your phone into the USB data port to get Android Auto to appear. The Sonata's with the cheaper 8" navigation screen has wireless Android Auto. Go figure! I recommend purchasing Motorola MA-1 dongle for wireless Android Auto and it worrks perfect.

@govinlock85685 жыл бұрын
Certain crossovers are good enough for little fun. Crossovers that has height less than 5'6" (163 cm) performs like modern compact sedans and hatchbacks. I have one and because its ground clearance is 200 mm (8 inches), it can run through normal, solid rough roads without worrying scratched bumpers. Sure they have higher ground clearance than compact sedan, but because they use large wheels (mine use 8.6x17 inch wheels), they still good for cornering. Their practicality are same with modern hatchback at least. But on the other side, I don't like crossovers that has body height more than I mentioned above. I got crossover because roads in Indonesia still have rough sections while I want a car that performed like modern hatchback on smooth, paved roads.

Bought mine in August of 2020, fast forward to now I am still amazed with this vehicle, get tons of compliments about it, most people I come across don't even know what it is until I tell them and their reactions are all they same, "This is a Hyundai Sonata?!", honestly they're such underrated vehicles, pushing 30k miles on mine so far and I have not had a single issue with it what so ever, ride quality is great, features are amazing as usual, even handles very well in the snow and ice which surprised me the most, overall extremely happy with this car and what Hyundai is doing in general and you really can't beat the price point, yeah it doesn't hold it's value as well as a Toyota or Honda but it's a cheaper vehicle anyway but that's fine with me. But the fact that the whole time I've owned this I haven't had to pay for a single oil change (intervals are 7,500 miles in it with the 2.5L engine and you get complimentary maintenance for 3 years/36,000 miles) and max mpg I got on a long road trip was about 46.2 mpg ( for a non hybrid and that's above advertised at 38 mpg highway which is bonkers) I seriously would recommend this vehicle for anyone looking for a solid midsized sedan, I drove a Toyota Camry as well when I was in the market for a car and I liked the Sonata so much more, it's just more spacious and the tech is miles ahead of Toyota and their warranty is just way better, realistically anything could go wrong with a car at anytime and I would rather be covered than pay out of pocket regardless of a brands reputation, they are made by people after all, but my personal rating of the Sonata, 10/10 no question!

As the owner of a 1.6t sonata the reviews do it no justice. I’ve had my car for over 2 years now and have no plans on getting rid of it. When it’s paid off I’m going to slightly modify it to smooth it out just a bit. Other than that it looks freaking amazing I never get tired of it. The speed is fast enough to give me full control. It’s amazing in gas mileage and has the most amount of tech I could ever want all for the lowest price from its competition. Plus it’s rated as the highest quality when compared with other brands on many factors. Cost of ownership is low. So it’s a winner. At least for me.

My father's 2008 Mitsubishi lancer has 98 hp and it's great to drive in the city and even on the autobahn it's good for 112 mph without any worries, even slightly more if you really want to. I used to live in Calgary, where if you got a chinook (warm westerly wind off the Rocky Mountains that can raise the temperature >20 degrees C in the course of a few hours) in the middle of winter and all the snow on the roads / ground melted rapidly, you could be using a tank of washer fluid in a few days. Now that I live in a much warmer climate in Shanghai I barely use washer fluid, so I can certainly see where Doug might get that idea if he's always lived in San Diego.

Yep. Go anyplace where it snows, and during the melting, slime phase of the season, you keep the spare bottle of the stuff in the car for when you're going to inevitably use it up in a few days.

Or Wisconsin where the bugs get you in the spring, while snow and ice make you use it in the fall/winter

I have a 2017 Sonata and I use the drive mode all the time. There is a big difference between normal drive mode and sport mode. The suspension stiffens and it gives more torque and shifts gears at higher RPMs.
