The Last of Us Part II is terrifying. Please stop forgetting that this game is scary and it accomplished that goal SO well. Maybe as a non-horror game player that just hit me differently but I feel like no one ever talks about how scary the game is. It is terrifying, my greatest moment of terror ever was being trapped on an apartment building floor with the runners (or whatever they were called). Every time I turned my back to try and make an escape is when they attacked and it was horrifyingly scary!

For me game of the year and generation has to be The Last Of Us Part 2 although I also adored Final Fantasy 7 Remake. I'm so glad tlou2 has received so much recognition after a vocal minority of haters gave it such a rough time this year. Most disappointing probably goes to ghost. It had a lot of hype around it but personally I found it very similar assassin's creed and I didn't like any of the characters. It got quite repetitive over time as well especially with its mission design. I'm glad so many enjoyed it though. The games i'm excited to play more of over Christmas are Yakuza 7 and Hades although death stranding is always so addictive. It's such a great podcast game. Most overlooked in my opinion might belong to Spelunky 2. That game didn't seem to get much hype but it looks charming, fun and the way elements of the world interact to create insane moments makes it look super fun. I'm excited for both games to hit switch. I hope they do better on that console.

It has really made it a really special holiday break going through the various experiences that I missed. @@nam9085 Thats a completely understandable sentiment but unfortunately thats just the nature of society as it stands. You can see the WWEification of everything from politics, news to sports talk to console wars etc etc. I don't think GOT was done any favors by being released within touching distance of TLOU2. I think if it was released a month or two before TLOU2 than maybe people wouldnt link the experiences too much. I remember starting GOT and cringing at the animations and acting n thats purely because I was just coming off of TLOU2 which redefined the bar for that. Whether its The Game Awards, Oscars etc these shows tend to favor projects that took risks, and although GOT is probably the most refined, least bloated open world game of the gen, its more the perfecting of a formula rather than the introduction of new equation.

For everyone complaining about ads just come back later. When you upload a video youtube auto puts ads in the video. Later on the uploader can go into the video and trim down the ads. It happens alot when someone uploads a video and they have to go back and fix it.

To me it's not even a slight issue. I mean tlou2 came second in that award which is amazing as well. Plus TLOU2 currently has 19 reader's choice awards whereas Ghost has 2, Cyberpunk has 1, AC valhalla has 1 and Hades has 1. I think it's safe to say the hate was way way overblown on this one.

Abby's character is good, but I hate that she's being compared to Ellie because they are both at different stages of their arcs and it's not fair Ellie by the end was on the road to becoming as selfish and horrible as Abby was in the beginning towards her target (joel). but she stopped. i understood abby and didn't want her to die, but i still feel she was a lot more selfish and narcissistic than ellie. but unfortunately the ellie we see in this game is at her worst

IMO saying P5 Royal was underrated is an exaggeration. Can't ask people to be hyped and sink another 120 hours in a JRPG they already played. I know the game is fantastic and most people that didn't play it probably knows too. And yes, like it or not, despite the gameplay changes and the 20 hours of new content at the end, the game still has the same 5 hour long tutorial palace, the same filler palaces and everything "not so good" that was present in the original.

@@deadrizen I mean some might say that but it doesn't feel accurate. tlou2 was a big departure from the first in a lot of ways and they took some big risks. Not everyone appreciated the story but for some it's hands down one of the best stories in gaming. When I think about what sets ghost apart from other games I think about the wind and the nice looking world but... I really don't think that's enough to warrant so much hype. It has so many issues with repetitive mission design and lack of enemy variety too. By the end it felt like every mission required me to follow footprints and kill an identical group of dudes.

If persona 5 Royal trophy list is anything like the regular trophy list then it's not fun or easy. You have to max out all confidants and stats and beat the reaper. I beat the game after 170hrs and only have 55% completion. Ghost has a perfect trophy list. Very completable and you don't even have to get every single thing in the game.

The reasons Greg gave for Astro trophy list are why I thought it WASN'T the winner: the game was cool and a love letter, sure... we're talking about the LIST itself. Miles' list was overall better, from the literal requests being written. Astro was the funnest plat but if you read the list alone, it's way more bland. Miles you can at least see the gameplay required as you read the list and know that it'll be fun because there's also no "collect ALL ___" or "complete ALL crimes". Ghost of Tsushima probably the best but I haven't finished that yet.

So tired of Demon's Souls being ignore. One of the highest rated games of the year (92 on metacritic). How is blessing really gonna say Miles Morales is a contender for best exclusive but not Demon's Souls (Miles has an 85 on metacritic). Plus, Demon's Souls is pretty much the only true PS5 exclusive... pretty much everything else can be played on the ps4 or will have a ps4 version in the near future.

The most underrated ps game for me is 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim. This game has a excellent sci-fi story and I’m afraid most people are gonna brush it off because of its 2d visual style. Also PlayStation did not market this game at all for some reason.
