I just drove the sedan turbo on Monday, what a great car. 250 hp, and 320 lb. ft. torque only comes when you fill it with premium gas (which I had). The power comes on constantly, with virtually no turbo lag. It rides, and handles great. The sedan I drove was a base model stickered at $30,970, which I thought was very reasonable for such a nice car. To answer the competitors question, the CVT Subaru WRX is the only one I can think of. By estimations the turbo 3 accelerates about as fast or faster than the Subaru for about the same money. The 3 is a lot nicer inside and out than the Subaru.

Can someone please ask Mazda why they won’t add ventilated 👏 seats 👏 on the mazda3!? I see they added a heated steering wheel button where the driver’s ventilated seat button *should* be. They could have easily put the heated steering wheel button on the only BLANK button on the steering wheel 🤦♂️

@tflcar: re: statements ~6:30 It's possible to switch audio sources by pressing source on the steering wheel. It'll toggle through the list. Or press the music hot button and change to another source. If you want to change between favorites within the radio, press & hold the volume knob left or right and it'll tune to the next channel. Press to the left or right (without holding) and it'll jump to the next favorite. The same can be accomplished by the tuning button on the steering wheel. I don't know why more videos don't dig into how quick the system is to use with shortcuts. Apart from trying to find out how much each tire's pressure is or how many miles are left before an oil change, just about anything can be done from the steering wheel or the volume control knob -- even without using the main control dial.

That looks so f-ing good. Mazda is my favorite manufacturer. Owned 4 newer models Mazda's from the 6, MX5, Speed3 and the 3. As much fun as the speed3 way. It was a heavy car. But had a great manual gearbox. Which is all this new 3 is lacking.

MazdaSpeed 6 AWD was pretty cool too. BUT, if you ladies enjoy torque, and I know you do, put on a helmet and ride a Zero SR/F electric motorcycle. Sure, it only has half the torque of a Mazda 3 Turbo but it weighs about 1/6th as much. It does 0-60 in Hol-E-Faak and pasted a Tesla Model 3 Performance repeatedly in 1/4 mile. Check it out for a mind-bending experience.

You had me at AWD. Question though Re. The info-tainmement system: If something takes you a week to learn, is it actually intuitive?? 🤔
@carterdavis27933 жыл бұрын
It is because you don't have to take your eyes off the road to use the system. It's like switching between apple and android. Same system, different way of using it.
@ljpr3603 жыл бұрын
It doesn't require that long to learn, it's easy to pick up, once you have it down it's like second nature so we can keep our eyes out for black ice in the Winter fellow Manitoban. It may also be worth noting the 2.5L SKYACTIVC Turbo does a lot better in cold weather than Honda's 1.5L Turbo in the Civic/CR-V, it doesn't have the oil dilution issues that Honda has been strugling with, my Mazda 6 gets much better efficency in winter than my Civic 1.5T did even though it's heavier, more powerful and 1L more displacment, Mazda has a lot more experience with DI Turbo engines.

Mazda great company. Innovation. Design. Decent Reliability. My only gripe are the rear windows. Too small. And they keep getting smaller. Why though? I understand crash requirements are getting more stringent but the point of advanced technology should be to do more (protection) with less (visibility prohibiting structure), Not do more with more...

Nice. For competitors - depending on whether or not Toyota nerfs their Corolla GR or not.. That. All wheel drive, hatch, 260+ HP, similar torque. Love the mazda look; I just don't like the hatch opening, nor the rear seat space. Not that the current Corolla Hatch is any different rear seat wise. But when I can compare the two is when I'll make my decision. For the mazda, the biggest question is how does the Torsion Beam suspension perform, followed perhaps by what is the rear wheel bias and is it enough.

If you’re a driver and enthusiast for the same money the Veloster N is so much better, more drive modes, adjustable suspension, much lively interior and cracks and pops in the exhaust and more focused. I owned two mazdaspeed 3’s and miss that. It had a good scoop and big wing. Immediately recognizable as a hot hatch. This car looks like a regular 3 and Mazda missed the mark.

Hopefully Mazda found a solution to prevent engine issues down the road that plague all other vehicles that have gasoline direct injection engines combined with a turbo. If not, it is best to either lease this vehicle and turn it in after the lease is up or if purchased new. sell it once the warranty is up.

MIKE D every car brand has had their issues, the Mazda 3 back in 2010 and 2011 had issues with their clutch disk failing at 50-60 k miles and taking other components with them. For everyone talking about bringing back the "Speed" You will never see the Speed badge again because Mazda is making a push to be part of the premium car group like Audi and BMW. The Speed name is too immature for their brand marketing. Hence why this vehicle is just the Mazda 3 Turbo.

Mazda and Toyota have an upcoming I6 turbo. If they plan on making a performance Mazda 3, they would use a detuned I6 they're putting into the Mazda 6 coupe. That would put the Mazda 3 in line with the BMW M Performance cars(roughly, I wouldn't expect them to be that good). The bonus for me would be the rear wheel drive bias as the I6 is being built as a RWD engine. I am also curious about how they would name it. The Mazdaspeed brand no longer exists and Mazda said they won't bring it back because it sounds too juvenile.

I get Mazda wants to move up the market and hope them success. What I don't get is why they are trying to throw away their old brand image completely, they make great performance cars and have the passion rarely seen in car companies today. Them not putting a manual trans into an obviously performance oriented model with a limited market where people are actually looking for manuals just makes no sense to me. I like the new Mazda 3, but from what I see they just aren't going to sell, most people affixed on luxury cars don't care, a Mazda is a Mazda regardless how good it is, what they want is the BADGE PRESTIGE. Yeah, it's a steal when compared to entry level luxury cars(e.g. C class, 3 series etc.) but then what? Trust me I've tried talking to people interested in those, they just laugh it off with something like "Seriously, a Mazda? Nah". At the 3s current price point, most people who want it can't afford it or might not be able to justify it's price(don't get me wrong, it's worth the price, it's just way more car than what people want from a 3), ones who can mostly don't care(as mentioned above). The Turbo version is even more so as it is kind of in its own segment now, potential buyers would mainly be people who want a car like the Focus RS, STI, Golf R, Type R in automatic, which is a tiny demographic. It's possible WRX buyers might be interested but then from what I can see there are more manual WRXs than automatic ones, not to mention its cheaper starting price. IMHO it's going to take time for Mazda to build the new reputation they want, and doing things like killing off Mazdaspeed and killing manuals definitely does not help, it's partly like throwing their past reputation in the trash(their Le Mans winning 787b literally has MAZDASPEED printed on both rear fenders mind you), and their brand defining models are mainly performance cars that are fun to drive with manuals(RX-7, RX-8, MX-5). Again, IMHO they would be better off creating a secondary brand or have something like a "premium/luxury line", while growing their customer base from selling the cx-5, cx-30 and a possibly a cheaper 3. Having actual customers who have experienced the difference help them do the advertising would be way more effective than saying "we are going premium" themselves.

It is a hot hatch for older people only automatic, no crazy race brakes rims and chucks, just a comfortable compact car with more power and I can't think of any similar cars this size. They are trying to creat a new market. You know those people who buy the fully equiped base engine civic instead of a Si or a type R, maybe those people would like to have a compromise between all in performance or all in comfort wich this car seems to be.
