I've owned several Volvos and they are life savers in accidents, but I don't trust the complexity of the power train. I agree a nice straight six with perhaps a 48 volt assist system would have been a better approach.

Agreed. Volvo should engineer a turbocharged straight six or V6 for their larger cars. The 2.0T is fine for most of their smaller ones, like the XC40/60, and the S/V60.

@@Lucky8s They have already. They had turbocharged inline 5 and 6 cylinder engines. They dropped them. It was a company decision they made. The s60 had 5 and 6 cylinders in it and even the s40 had a turbo 5 in it when the 2nd gen came out in 2005.

It would be much less economical. They chose i4 + electric to save weight. i6 with electric motor doesn't make sense, even new C63 is 4pot + battery.

Haha its funny you say that. I have a continental black label (white with Blue rhapsody) I actually love it and anyone who bashes it actually has not been in the top trim. Im picking up a S90 Rdesign t8 this week. The lincoln is classier but Volvos more high tech. I also have a 2020 v60, so not new to the modern Volvos. I will miss my conti, but ready for something differnt.

I think Volvo does manual adjustment for the steering because of the safety engineering they did for the steering column, they engineer for safety in accidents.

@@mho0 the good reason I'm willing to bet on is "money". Its way cheaper to make them manual. As for safety its pretty obvious, imo. You're replacing a manual lever with a motor. Both are behind an airbag, regardless.

@@cptmiche I cannot proof you would be wrong :). I found this somewhere and so far I have believed it: "The manual adjustment is due to safety design. The engineers were not able to get the steering column and mechanisms to collapse out of the way in a frontal crash with an electronically adjustable unit, given wiring harnesses and connections. The manual column completely snaps and drops under, and out of harms way." That also indicates it is not only about airbag. Maybe Volvo figures out some day how to do it so that it satisfies their safety standards. I also believe that Volvo's internal safety standards are pretty close the best in the world ... but this feature would anyway be nice...

The manual adjust on the wheel is because of safety. Power tilt steering wheels have a part under the steering wheel that's dangerous in accidents. Volvo is always safety first.

Gorgeous are and nearly impossible to find in the S90 T6 Inscription model. As someone who has owned Mercedes and BMW’s, I’ll stick with Volvo for equal comfort, powerful full efficiency and all those extras like Heads Up Display, sun shades, and elegant looks. Agreed, that they just need to tweak the roof about 1” higher and the rear passengers would be more comfortable. The legroom in the front and rear are outstanding, and this is a LARGE Sedan. Great review thanks.

@@MrChadder007 Built in China or not doesn't matter. If anything, the built in China ones are better in quality than the Euro-built ones. They're mostly stamped by machine anyway. People need to get over the stigma of built in China. It's nothing new though. For years built in Korea, Thailand, Taiwan, even Japan many years ago was considered "junk." It'll change in time.

I’m happy Volvo has revamped the model lineup i know the S90 and the XC40 are new models but what’s the same is the dash, infotainment system, and the console and I was shocked that all model have a 2.0L 4 banger with a turbo and supercharger but simplicity is key for them and I don’t mind that…I’ll be listening to artists from Sweden like Abba, Avicii, Ace of Base, and whatever rock bands that hail from there

Volvo is notorious for lack of storage space. Their smallest vehicle, the XC40, arguably has the most, and most practical, storage space. The Bowers & Wilkins sound system is definitely worth the price, as are the massaging seats. Tick those boxes for sure.

Great honest review! However I think you're nick picking a bit driving it like sports in Hybrid mode, which you mentioned this is not an issue if you've set it to Sports mode. Haha... But I think it would be good if Volvo could provide a User programmable button on the steering to allow immediate/emergency mode switch or whatever when needed instead of meddling with the screen everytime we need to do something.

This design has aged very well. Its been around for a minute but still looks elegant. Dont really see to many on the road but its definitely a sleeper vehicle. Two bad all 2021 volvos and moving forwards including there polestar models will be limited to 114mph permanently. Kinda sucks!

Volvo was the 1st to do a fully digital speedometer panel... 2015 was the year they introduced xc90 and the redesign for their line up. They also was the 1st to do hairline headlights. All other car manufacturers including the luxury brand copied Volvo's styling.

The interior of this reminds me so much of the 2015 Chrysler 200c with the real wood option. The two tone wheel with the white blonde and black, aluminum trim, and wood trim reminds me of a 200c a lot. However the Chrysler has a metal ring going around the wheel.

Beautiful car...I owned a 2017 version and it was a POS. Infotainment lags a lot and you have to go through the screen for seat heater and heated steering wheel. The manual tilt and telescoping wheel is more at home in a entry level Ford than a $65K luxury car. Reliability is also an issue with Volvos in general. Also, the twin charged engine is loud and pretty harsh when compared to 6 cylinder equivalents. The BW sound system is amazing and the car looks fantastic. Overall, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone...but I understand why people would risk it.

That engine won't last 40k miles. Too much strain on a small 4 cylinder

Absolute nonsense. Talking regarding rubbish. 4 cylinder engines are easily capable of twice round the clock if cared for & looked after!! Not too mention far more economical then v6 & bigger gas guzzlers!
