And it has detentes in between the positions that you feel when moving the dial. In my mind it is a very good setup, and leaves more room around the dash.

I agree on the console shifter. My main reason is that console shifters waist a lot of space that would otherwise be usable for storage. Plus I've found a console shifter, with cup holders on the other side, can get in the way when lifting taller drinks and bottles. I think they should stick with column shifter for all trip levels and seat configurations. I love this new interior and is what I've been waiting for. Really well done. The example image of the bench seat with the new interior and a column shifter is the perfect interior and would be my pick, but they don't let you get certain high end options with the bench seat so buyers will have to decide between the bucket seats, high end features but least favorite shifter location (console) or they will have to stick with a bench seat and console shifter (both my preference) but then can't option some of the higher level features. Can't have everything I guess. Ha.

Honestly the 6.2 is probably the perfect medium between the v6 Raptor and hellcat TRX. Satisfies the gotta have a v8 crowd while offering decent enough mpg for daily use. Otherwise was hoping to see Kings or Icons in suspension and on 35s. DSSVs are supposedly incredibly damped, but limited travel and jury’s out on reliability.
@PeakDecline3 жыл бұрын
The suspension travel is better than the Trail Boss/Tremor/Rebel but not quite to that Raptor level. That's fine with me. The upside is it had much better payload and a bit better towing. I have the DSSVs in my Colorado and they are very well damped. The early ones had some leaking issues but that has improved over time.
@rebelcitysports1outlook7133 жыл бұрын
Problem is, this trucks competition is the F-150 Tremor which can be equipped with the same rear locker and Torsen front diff as the Raptor and the F-150 Tremor has something else this Silverado ZR2 doesn't and that's Trail Turn Assist (capability to lock the inside rear wheel for navigating tight switchbacks). The F-150 Tremor will be much cheaper than this Silverado ZR2. The F-150 Tremor is down 20 horsepower to the Silverado ZR2, but it's up on lb-ft of torque by 40.

Depending on how you kit it up, one might have to add airbags or replace all the springs. A payload of about 1,400lbs gets eaten up in a hurry with a few passengers, camping equipment, rooftop tent, food, water, recovery gear, etc. If one traveled really light, it might work. My first thought was a lightweight slide-in, pop-up camper, but then heard the max payload so that is out of the question. Still, this will be a nice overlanding rig for those that tent camper and travel light.

@rebelcitysports1outlook7133 жыл бұрын
Will it be more reasonably priced against the F-150 Tremor, which has the same diffs as a Raptor? Both are rolling on 33's. The Silverado ZR2 has 20 more hp but is down on lb-ft of torque by 40 to the F-150 Tremor.
@louieatienza87623 жыл бұрын
@@rebelcitysports1outlook713 Fords are usually more expensive than Chevys for similarly equipped trucks. The Chevy has the advantage with selectable lockers on both axles, not just a Torsen front diff like the Rapter/Tremor. Torque numbers are somewhat misleading, because it's power that gets you moving, which we measure in horsepower in trucks. Horsepower is a product of torque and speed; so the logical conclusion to draw is that the Ford EcoBoost doesn't rev up that high, thus the lower horsepower numbers. The Chevy 6.2L, while having less torque, has it available at higher RPMs, thus higher horsepower. And that's without turbo lag. Plus, Chevy trucks generally weigh less than their Ford counterparts.
@rebelcitysports1outlook7133 жыл бұрын
@@louieatienza8762 Meh. Horsepower may be want you want in the dunes, torque is what you want in mud and rocks.
@louieatienza87623 жыл бұрын
@@rebelcitysports1outlook713 Torque numbers are meaningless on their own, because it is a combination of torque, speed (RPMs), and gearing (transmission and transfer case) that determine the final rear wheel torque output. Both these trucks on 4 low will have more than enough torque for rocks. You actually want HP in the mud - which is why most all mud-boggers have high HP engines. Not sure how great turbo lag is for rock crawling; probably a bit sketchy when the power does kick in. Even tire size plays a role - a Raptor may have 35s but that actually puts them at a mechanical disadvantage as opposed to 33s. And likely the gearing is slightly taller, so you need to spin components a bit faster. And then there's the power-to-weight ratio to consider. I believe the curb weight of the F-150 Tremor to be about 400+ more than the current Trail Boss.

@@banshee107 wait until they put a corvette engine in it or a supercharged 6.2😏

@@carlos1k244 the 6.2 is the corvette engine. They just need to change the tune in it to get the same HP.

They call that the flow tie, it's apparently for increased airflow.

That’s for the morons that hang steel balls from under the back end lol.

GM is nickel and diming again. Tweek the 6.2 or add a supercharger. Drop some 35s or 37s, increase suspension travel, and make the gas tank larger and this truck wins in every category! It seems GM put the extra inventory on this truck and called it ZR2. Interior is amazing though. FINALLY!

SWEET! May be trading my Rebel, I like the price points of these trucks. No way am I droping 70, 80, 90 grand on a TRX or Raptor.
