The 2022 Holberg Masterclass: Technology and the Human Future

Technologies are not merely tools for achieving necessary ends but a vehicle through which humans articulate and implement visions of the future.
For the 2022 Holberg Week we are offering scholarships for five PhD candidates from the Nordic countries to participate in a masterclass with the Holberg Prize Laureate.
Technologies reflect and materialize collective visions of good and desirable futures in contemporary societies. As such, they are both sites and objects of politics. This class explores how technologies assume the shapes they do, how they further or inhibit particular directions of progress, and how they help crystalize ideas of agency, responsibility and blame. Technological systems emerge from this perspective as integral to the constitutional commitments that governs modernity.
Each participants will be asked to prepare a 5-minute presentation related to the topic and reading list chosen by the Holberg Prize Laureate . After the presentations there will be a free discussion moderated by the Holberg Prize Laureate.
PhD candidates in Nordic countries may now apply for this masterclass. Deadline: 1 May.
This event is a part of the Holberg Week, which this year takes place 7-10 June.

After watching this excellent video, I think it's incredible that the Europeans can't escape their ignorance on power politics. This is classic Professor Mearsheimer.... and he is correct on all points.

Sometimes displayed public ignorance is not only a conscious choice but also a key that opens doors. European Elites also hope to sneak in before US Elites manage to close the door by changing the lock.....Both sides are in it for their own benefits and the rest of the world is their playground, and only enter as such And the methods tested out there are then used back home.

It's a weird conversation, that's for sure. I think it's an example of what happens to some people when going through higher education, they forget to talk in a normal way since they have not translated their knowledge into an average language. Which would really make it knowledge. Now it's more like academic masturbation of the mind.

Whenever i watch anything wthout black people,, i always feel some key population o this world is missing.Is like studying withina university without black people in this world ,It always feels that someoe is in the wrong place .(Key population tobe represnted everywhere : Black African ,Indian,Chinese,Europe, Latinos ,NOrth americans )
