Japanese manufacturers have been investing in the US MIDDLE CLASS on a massive scale. They put people to work, construction and factory workers, I would support that. I say do some research and buy a vehicle made in the US. Just because it’s the Big Three doesn’t really mean anything anymore. But if you want to give those executives and shareholders a pat on the back in support of them shutting down their US factories and laying off thousands, buy a car that an American company had built somewhere else. Toyota is a good one, Nissan has invested in the middle class quite a bit as well

The 3.8 is a great engine and the 9 speed is smooth and good. I’m a new tacoma owner but I strongly considered this, although the timeframe for release didn’t work with my schedule. My dad has a 2018 frontier and he loves it. The addition of a great interior with modern amenities and a wonderful new style makes this a no brained in my book. If you’re in the market for a great mid sized truck that is capable. It’s this and the tacoma. Don’t even look at the current ranger or the Colorado or canyon.

Having owned 2 Frontiers previously, I do like Nissan's midsize pickup formula, but I think they raised the price a bit too much on this redesigned model. One of the best things about the Frontier for all these years has been its excellent value, beating all others in the midsize segment on that front. Now it's just as overpriced as the Tacoma. That said, I think it's a better truck than the Taco, although Toyota's next gen midsize is coming in about a year. I will be purchasing my next truck in a year or 2 and it will be a midsize. I will definitely wait and see what Toyota comes up with before I jump, but as of right now I'm leaning toward sticking with the Frontier.

@@leotide1990 I guess I'm old school when it comes to trucks. It has to be body on frame with proper 4WD. I like to go camping off grid and I couldn't get to the places I want to go without the ground clearance and traction of a 4WD body on frame truck. That said, I do like these new small trucks, especially the Santa Cruz. I had an 08 Tacoma 4x2 base 4cyl that gave me and my dad before me over 100,000 miles and 13 years of reliable service. Only thing rusting was the tailgate which had I kept it I was going to replace. Aside from oil changes I put very little into it. I bought a 2022 back on 1/14/22 and back in March sold the 08 for over 8,500 bucks ( consider the 08 new was 15,000). My current 4cyl Tacoma delivers 19mpg at 75 to 80 on the highway with the AC on and I hit nearly mid 20s with it off in combined driving. The frontier I had was a 99 and was so hard on gas that it was costing me 60 bucks a week at 3 bucks a gallon. It just wasn’t as well made, I bought another Toyota cause I know they’re releasable the sunset. Almost bought a frontier but as a mechanic when I see them they’re got piles of problems. ( don’t help that the French who partly owns Nissan aren’t known for cars of great quality and Nissan it having all kinds of QC problems with premature rusting)

I find the new Frontier to be one of, if not the best looking, midsize trucks out there, especially with the LED lighting on the better trims. I bought a 2011 Pro4X brand new. Even with the Luxury package it "only" cost about $32,000. I loved it's tall cabin, moon roof and power front seats which, at that time, the Tacoma did not offer. However, after a few thousand miles its shortcomings became evident. The fuel economy was mediocre for a mid size truck compounded by a low fuel light that illuminated with almost 1/4 tank still left. It also had an awful turning circle and the backseat was uncomfortable with an upright back rest. If the new Frontier doesnt suffer form these issues, it will be on the top of my list for a mid sizer.
