I'm so glad to see "normal" looking EVs. The last decade of EVs were plagued with weird designs that seemed to be aimed at intentionally keeping sales low.

IMO the future of cars are plug-in hybrids. Lets say 100 mile battery range, and gas as a backup. That way the vehicles aren't too heavy, there is no range anxiety, never stranded, can fuel up in the event of a natural disaster, etc.

Europe is ditching hybrids because they are not the future. It's a superseded and compromised platform (inefficient as a fuel or battery vehicle due to weight and less range overall).

@@nessuno5403 Yes, I'm all for gas/diesel, but as long as these "green" whackos insist upon electric, I want backup gas. And as you said, batteries are HEAVY! At least a plug-in hybrid will weigh less than full electric and cover most daily driving with gas as a backup.

$61k for a EQB350, I would choose its ICE counterpart GLB35 over it anytime.

Mercedes' used to look amazing in black, infact black was the Mercedes color. But this just looks like no more prestigious than a black Honda SUV.

braking sucked.. matched the CRV hybrid in most respects for 3 times the price and less than a quarter amount of reliability

Mercedes might end up killing off the EQB SUV as well as the current-gen EQA SUV in the near future. However, they may end up either killed outright with no successors at all as Mercedes remains determined to kill all cars below both the C-Class sedan and GLC crossover as well as other underperforming cars or be replaced by a single compact EUV covering two wheelbases - SWB for Europe, Japan, and most developing markets and LWB whether 2-row or 3-row for North America, China, South Korea, Australia, and a few others - taking either the EQA SUV name or GLA EV if Mercedes kills off the EQ moniker once and for all.

Way too expensive, and the RELIABILITY of German cars (despite nice design) after the warranty ends would keep me away.

Pretty heavy for a small SUV but it's probably the battery that adds much weight.

"We think it'll do quite well" John proves he has no clue what is going on in the car business. This car *won't* do well. The only thing it'll do well is cause its owner to hate BEVs. Motorweek failed to mention the dreadful charging capability of this car.

100 KW fast charging isn't too shabby actually. Not the top of the line, but easily something you can live with. And much, much better than the charging options of the old Mercedes B-class EV from a few years back. Now that was a vehicle deserving the dreadful description in terms of charging. For my sake I have an EV that only has 50 KW fast charging, and don't consider even this low fast charging speed to be a problem.

@@Haukevind Fair point. 100kW max DC charging speed isn't bad. My 10yr old Tesla does 120kW. Modern Teslas do 250kW for extended periods and charging sessions can be as short as 15min when on long drives. No way you'll see that driving across the country in an EQB. I swear I've seen Mercedes commercials proclaiming "the best... or nothing." Motorweek take their electric cars for such short tests that they don't have any charging experience to report. I was really referring to the CCS2 charging network in the USA which Mercedes chose to use. It is sparsely deployed and the stations have low reliability. Not what you expect from companies with all that "luxury" advertising

So the "top" model has 227 miles of range and costs $61,700... and 61cu.ft. of internal storage... 0-60 in 5.7sec and horrible charging. vs. the world's fastest-selling vehicle of any type, the Tesla Model Y, w/ 279 miles of range, $39,900 after the government's $7,500 tax credit (that the Mercedes does not get), 76cu.ft. internal storage space and 0-60 in 5.0sec, and 250kW charging on the Supercharger network (that Ford and GM have decided to use). But Motorweek thinks the Mercedes "will do quite well" - in other words, they think we are DUMB. Motorweek is insulting its viewers by saying they will happily buy this Mercedes crap.

Yet in america we only get SUVS. ALL THE SAME . One ugly hyundai sedan and some tesla autopia disney looking cars that never change and are 2x over priced etc. we have nothing for people that need lower ( seat height entry points) vs all copied suv high platform. Dumbest thoughts of car mnf eve getting rod of sedans.
