Dude, NHL is far from perfect. There’s plenty of stuff worth barking about, but you can literally watch the balls get pulled on the NHL channel. And the PDF was published last weekend with the number combos… Fair warning, the quality is hilariously bush league and the plastic palm trees might destroy some brain cells. 😂

However, CHI ended up settling lawsuits in court as a penalty, and the individuals responsible for the decision were axed. AZ cheated at hockey to get a competitive advantage and got hockey penalties. It’s straight up bizarre to suggest that docking draft picks would be a just punishment for CHI’s situation-the org itself didn’t violate its own HR policies, and it really has nothing to do with hockey competitiveness.

How do the odds work for moving up a single spot outside of the top 3. Ex. 16th overall has 0.5% to make it to 6th overall which aint gonna happen, but what are the odds they make it to 15th?

The odds of that are zero. There are two separate lotteries, one for first pick and one for second pick. Only the top eleven can win the first pick. The teams outside of the top 11 can move up ten spots. So, a 14th team can get the 4th pick or a 16th team can get the sixth pick and so on. So, unless the 16th place team wins one of the two lotteries, it stays at 16. There is no way to jump one position to 15.

If you wanted the Blackhawks to lose their pick, it should’ve happened in the 2022-2023 draft. The investigation and reprimanding happened in 2021. With the exception of the owner, that organization cleaned house of all involved. That team was even winning without their star players. They beat the crap out of Boston in March with basically a brand new roster. NHL could have and should have done more, if they wanted to. But they didn’t. The Blackhawks did everything (with the exception of new ownership) to course correct. If you want to blame someone, blame the NHL. As a Hawks fan, I’m deeply upset by the bullshit that organization pulled during their Stanley Cup run. To cover up someone like that AND allow that individual to go somewhere else and abuse other people. So messed up. Especially the inner management circle knowing and deliberately hiding it. None of them remain in the Blackhawks front office.

It would be extraordinarily hard to “rig” the draft. Oh and the imagine on the screen of the top three before when the commercial cut the feed off was just showing their original position in the standings. Hawks third, Jackets second and ducks first. It’s not some huge conspiracy to get a big market team Bedard. They allowed multiple media people to watch the actual lottery with the ping pong balls. It’s 4 numbers, a different number on every ball. The final pick comes down to the final digit in the four number sequence. It was the hawks fourth number therefore they win the draft lottery. There is a more in depth explanation on KZbin that I believe was released by the league but I doubt any of you will try to educate yourself on the topic. You’ve already made up your mind that it’s a conspiracy so I don’t know why I’m even writing this lol. You can debate all you want about weather they “deserve” the pick or not.
