..tesla products are outdated decade old technology (e.g., only has cameras not even radar, no laser to detect other objects). Tesla self driving is only level 2, whereas Rivian is level 3 autonomy (on an off-road, you don't have to keep your eyes on the road and don't have to keep your hands on the wheel). ;,,,...Rivian has 4 motors, others only have 1-3 motors. IMO, all EVs, no matter how fast or expensive they are, should be mandated to have regular steering wheels. I don't get the "yoke" thing that Tesla is doing.

Toyotas yoke steering wheel isn't dangerous like the Telsa yoke. It has a way smaller turning radius. Meaning your hands don't have to cross and possibly miss the opening in the yoke steering wheel.

The reason why it's wider at the bottom is to improve the position of hold the driver may or may not make while @ center of position..... To each its own, I welcome it. Its all progressive and tli believe it will be adopted by most.

It looks interesting! But every time I see a manufacturer ditch the volume knob, it makes angry. Push button volume control is the worst. Slider volume is almost as bad.

@@naveenthemachine OK I'll give you that one :) The Camry is a good looking car. To be honest I think Toyota is getting better but they are no Audi or Mercedes. Even BMW has gone down the fugly route with that ridiculous giant grill that's as bad as Lexus. It would be nice to see more creativity like what Hyundai has done with the fantastic Ioniq 5 but I could not imagine Toyota leading with a vehicle like that.

@Arman Shahbaz Toyota doesn’t have an EV architecture that allows larger batteries to be put in. Assuming Toyota is on track with their solid state batteries in 2025 and E-TNGA platform, we’ll see better EVs from them.

I Believe Toyota have timed it well. They have 17 ev models coming out next year. They have let a lot of other carmakers get rid of beginner issues with EVs and will be launching all theirs EV into a semi-mature market. They wont have to deal with to much customer hesitancy. And toyota is known for quality, and the offer warranties on their batteries, so I think they are going to be doing alright over the coming 10 years.

Toyota offered the 2010 EV RAV4 model and it only sold for a few years and priced itself out of the Toyota range it was in partnership with Tesla back then in its infancy

Great review Sofyan! I think the Solterra looks better imo of these two. Idk what Toyota was thinking with the style and the name?! I mean I get it but it’s not attractive. It’ll sell like hotcakes of course but Oy. And you can already see scratches by the door handles because the whole thing is piano black. Double Oy. And then the center dash is just fingerprint, dust and scratch city. I don’t understand manufacturers love with piano blank…I know it’s cost cutting but jeez.

It better be priced reasonably since it’s only 250 miles range compared to others. Battery under the floor would give more room for a battery which would increase range. That range will do with cold temps or added amenities being used.

Who cares....if Toyota EV's are reliable & priced right then people will buy them. Toyota was well ahead of other OEM's when it comes to introducing hybrids in the 90's and the prius in 90's also. Toyota has LOTS of battery experience.

@@sevencostanza3931 exactly this. If it's a quality product at a competitive price, I'll gladly drive one. They banked on hydrogen fuel cell and it didn't take off. I suppose there's still time but I don't think it's likely. To be frank, most legacy automakers took way to long to embrace EV anyway. I'd take a Tesla, but I can't afford/justify one, and since I can't shop with my pride alone, something else will likely be my next vehicle.

Other EVs don't need it. Why does this? It seems like an ancient design choice to me. Ioniq 5, Mach E, Model 3, Model S,... All come with crossbeam free glass. Hell, a Corolla Hybrid Estate can be specced with a moon roof without supporting crossbeam so it's not like Toyota doesn't know how to do it.

Good to see Toyota still uses strong, safe, reliable and problemfree doorhandles. Nice ergonomically sound buttons in the interior too. Superior to all touchscreens. In Europe Lexus offers a 10 year or million kilometer (600,000 mile) warranty on the Lexus UX 300e's battery. Best warranty in the business.

The design on the outside is… weird. But what the hell were they thinking when they designed that steering wheel and the gauge cluster? They are just hideous to look at!
