Happy Monday everyone! We filmed this video at the end of 2022, so the 313,000 units sold was what Toyota did in 2021. The numbers are in for 2022 and the company moved about 295,000 Camry's last year, making this the best-selling family sedan in the US! While the segment continues to shrink, we don't think will abandon this class anytime soon and we will be driving the redesigned Accord in about 3 weeks. Stay tuned!

I bought a 23 XSE V6 model in December. It now has just over 1,200 miles on it and I can confirm the seats have softened up quite a bit. Also, the V6 gets surprisingly good gas mileage! I've been getting about 25 city and 35 highway in a mix between normal and eco modes. I don't usually stomp on it or push it much because it makes enough low end power for normal acceleration.

We have since purchased a 2023 Camry Hybrid SE. So far it is very nice but only gets around 45 MPG. The wider tires on the SE trim causes more rolling resistance which decrease the MPG’s. A few corrections are in order: This vehicle can go down the road well above 25mph on electric power alone, mine does it all the time. If the road is level, or downhill and you use light throttle I’ve seen it cruise at 45mph, even on the highway sometimes at even higher speeds. The SE comes with paddle shifters, not just the XSE. About that gas mileage… Driving from the Phoenix area to Sedona at 75mph and uphill I will get 43mpg, and coming back I will get 52. Usually, I get 47 when driven in town only, no freeway. Vibration from the engine: well, I guess if you are really using the throttle all the time while achieving 38mpg you will hear the engine, but driven like an adult you will not even notice it. Zero steering feel: I don’t test drive many vehicles like this tester so I will have to submit to his opinion, but what he doesn’t mention is the handling is pretty good. If you compare the handling to almost any SUV it’s outstanding, which is one of the things I like best about my Camry. Driven through the mountains on curvy roads this car is rock solid and gives complete confidence, at least when driven at sane speeds. Hard seats: I’ve driven to California and back and never even noticed the seats. This vehicle is kinda low, so getting in and out could be an issue if you are used to what sedans used to be, or if you’re coming from a pick-up or SUV. The reach to the front door handles are pretty far if the door is open all the way, it almost seems coupe like. (Two door)

As much as the Camry doesn't have the bells and whistles as many of its competitors, its practical and functional for a low cost. Lots of people especially if you are coming from a 6+ year old car, the features of a new camry are "luxury". Lots of people also see a car as a vehicle to get from point A to B, and camry provides that without worrying about it breaking.

I've taken two 800-mile trips so far, and seat comfort was absolutely never an issue. Never thought about them at all, which is the best thing you can say about a car seat. Sofyan you made a mistake. The panoramic roof is available with the regular 4 cylinder XLE XSE. You just can’t get it on the hybrid Plus the rear USB charge ports are a dealer accessory. My 2020 XSE came with them as an accessory

Toyota learned from low sales in the past years that the Camry is not a Michael J Fox car rather a family car, so they decided to go back to kinda 2003 gen Camry design by starting to trim the ugly grill which to me was the best design.
@ramrod890 Жыл бұрын
I’m not too sure why you keep saying the panoramic sunroof is only available on the V6 trims, you even have older videos of the 4 cylinder with awd and a panosunroof, they just don’t offer panoramic sunroofs on any of the hybrid trims.

How’s the Camry compared to a Lexus Es ? I have a 10 year old ES 300h ‘fully loaded’ that still drives awesome. The prices have gone ⬆️ and I want a hybrid electric (I still am hesitant to get a fully electric). What are some good options? Any suggestions where I can save for retirement is appreciated

Sucks to hear the seats in the XLE are hard and uncomfortable. The seats in my 23 xse are some of the most comfortable seats I have ever been in.
@sherrikwhiteside6107 Жыл бұрын
Good to know that the seats are comfortable to you. Comfort is one of my biggest concerns. If you don’t mind me asking, how tall are you? I’m 6’1”, and although the seat bottoms are short in the Camry, the leather seats in the XLE seemed comfortable, but you can’t always tell in a short, 15 minute test drive. Both the XSE and the XLE have the same seats.

Sofyan, The Camry Hybrid still provides truly outstanding mpg. In regard to slumping sedan sales across the industry, am I the only one who has noticed the slide in sedan sales directly correlates to the increasingly stylized, swoopy and impractical shape sedans have adopted in the last decade or so? Sloping the roofline has ruined rear seat headroom rendering them useless for adult passengers. Dropping the seating position to a few millimeters off the ground has made ingress and egress extremely irksome. In other words, practical-minded people are forced into CUVs and SUVs whether they actually want them or not. I predict the next Camry Hybrid, due later this year, will offer AWD 🤩 and a drop in headroom. 🤨🤨
