I hope this review helps from a rider on this board for 100 days! Avran, watching this review was the main reason I purchased it. Hi guys. I'm 49yrs old and I have 4 Mega Death boards. Two 157W (2023/24 & 2024/25), one 156 and one 159. I love them all. I'm thinking of getting the 161W too. Capita sent me the 157W 2024/25 for free. Shout out to them. This board can be for beginners, intermediates and advanced riders too. Nothing weird about how it rides. It's like a snowboard you know and trust what it will do BUT does it better! What I liked most about the Mega Death is that I've been riding it all season 2023/2024. I took it to Zermatt, Whistler, Sun Peaks, Big White, Vail, Park City, Kitzbuhel, Ischgl, Solden, 3 Valleys, Val d'Isere... the list goes on!! I'm just putting those places out there so you can figure out the conditions. 1. Yes, it's super light. One might not think about this but having to carry your board in the resorts can sometimes be too much. Especially true when you have to walk for 20-30 mins. Being light also helps with having to carry the bag in the airport! So being light helps and this board was light. 2. FAST! This board OMG! You'll thank me when in flats. I've passed skiers pushing multiple times on flats and honestly this board was worth the price just because of that alone! I had to speed check myself multiple times as I'm not too comfortable mocking down runs. You point this thing down and it will boost, turbo boost. All boards are fast when you wax them but this board excels without any effort to go fast. It just wants to go fast. It's great in powder too!!! I was seriously impressed. 3. Stability. I think this is where I love it the most. You have that camber under your feet which is perfect. Not an aggressive camber like the Aeronaut (super aggressive and catchy). Perfect amount of camber with the rockers well placed to give you those easy turns in and out. Perfect turns in groomers and powder. The balance was great. On ice-packed groomers, you'll have to be a bit aggressive to engage the contact point for a solid grip due to that rocker in the nose. The tail was great too, that small amount of flat-rocker doesn't make it washy and catchy. The tail is just great on this board. Circle carves, euro carves, mellow carves all great! Easy to ride switch, just don't put too much into the turn. The tail will grip faster than the nose. 4. Pop. Has pop when you load it up and has pop when you don't load it up! I'm 49 so nothing above a feet or two for me. I haven't hit rails, only boxes and small jumps and it was perfect. Not sure if it's a board for medium jumps. Has anyone taken it to medium and large jumps. I took it to a very small jump and felt my knees saying "why?!" 5. Damp and lively. I love how this board is both damp and lively when in different terrain. Then again it's the bindings that complete this equation. You'll feel EVERYTHING with a Union Ultra (if I recall correctly), the Union Force was a great balance with this board. Also the Burton Cartel X was great too. The Cartel X was the smoothest ride on this. However the Union Force was the perfect balance! I'm not sure if I missed anything... I'm 5'8 and 200lbs. I hope this helps you guys when purchasing. Last but not least, their customer service is just AMAZING! Thank you Avran for always being honest in your reviews.

I got to demo one finally. I am 6'2" 220 lbs and all they had was the 159. I was totally surprised how well the board size suited me. My BSOD is a 162, and I would most likely do the same in the Mega, but damn it just rode so well. I had the opportunity to smash some deep pow (12") and it still floated great for me as well. The only thing I didn't really get to test was super high speed groomers, that's where the extra length may help with stability. The first jump I hit was crazy as it felt like there was nothing strapped to my feet, it just wanted to fly. I am most likely going to have to pick one up next year.

Favorite setup/ daily driver: 2021 BSOD (DEATH MACHINE) 161W, 2020 Union Atlas bindings, K2 Thraxis boots. 6'4 210lbs I am that rider what you may have seen in other reviews as the guy who has loud aggressive death metal blasting in their ears doing Mach Jeezuz down the mountain who likes to lay trenches indicative of the BSOD rider. On fresh groomers all you want to do is carve it. Powder is easy and floaty The BSOD handles tracked out runs with incredible ease as well as. I can freeride just about anything with this setup but spend almost zero time in the park. The Mega Death seems to be the next level BSOD I have been hoping for, not to say the BSOD was lacking. The lightness was also a huge selling point. (Also a MegaDeth fan...), seems to be the next level from what I want as a speed/ carve/ freeride demon. Review from AS tells me all I want to know especially since I know the profile and I'm sold. I have already purchased my Mega Death @ 161w and will be using my K2 thraxis boots and Union Atlas Pro bindings. First runs will be in Mammoth, Vail, Big Sky, and Zeramatt. In boards the number one thing I look for is turn. From someone who hates a doa and an outsider because the rail is strange and they feel like ass when turning plus they shed an insane amount of speed when you 90 degree them, but absolutely loves the aggressive yet playful feel of the turn on an asymulator, and likes a mercury okay, how is the turn on this? If you've tried the rome freaker it has the same type of too sturdy, non playful cut/rail as a doa and an outsider you might get what I'm trying to say.

So for this board156 too big for my weight? Was gonna buy 150 golden orca for some pow and tree runs but now Im confused

I am really unable to decide between the the mega and the BSOD. I am not really concerned about the price tag. I want a great charger for groomers that’s going to not let me down in trees, moguls and pow. Do you think it is worth the extra money? And does the reactiveness of the mega „kill the fun“ in uneven terrain?

This has more torsional flex to it which will make it far more nimble. You're going to sacrifice some dampening though.

Hi Angry Man, thanks for the great reviews! I am looking to pull the trigger on a Mega Death, I am 5ft11 240, sz 11.5 boots, riding East coast and own a 162 MindExpander that I find too soft. Should I go 161w or 165w? I ride groomers, trees, chunky trees, pow days… Thanks for your help!

If the Mind Expander is too soft this will be too. Look at the regular black snowboard of death.

Should be manageable. I'm an "intermediate" rider and went from a Ravine Select to this (buying an used one of all things) and I haven't died yet. I like the MD more. That said, it has an interesting flex behavior. When I'm scraping the ground to make a Malcolm Moore style shelf to strap in, it feels like I'm handling a pool noodle on my foot, but doesn't feel like it when riding it.

If it was daily riding it would be Mega Mercury. If it's balls to the wall hard charging Mega Death. I view the Mega Death as the Ferrari you bust out for a little highway speed or to go to Coffee and Cars. Where the Mega Mercury is that Porsche 911 you're doing donuts with in the parking lot of Target after you bought the new PS5 game.
