This is just my opinion and it is not based on any other information except watching marathons and new world records over several decades. The second place female was almost 8 minutes back! It’s amazing how she was able to run, with her flag, so effortlessly after the race. Maybe it is a secret interval workout that nobody else has ever thought of before that allows her to run so fast.

And the crazy part is, while the temperature and humidity were great for a marathon, the wind wasn't. And Chepngetich still went under 2:10. To do that with the winds we have here in Chicago today just takes her time to another level. Like imagine what she could do if she didn't have to run into a headwind or swirling winds for miles. On top of that, she's self coached. She's got no one telling her what to do in training sessessions or helping with race strategy. Also the absence of Kiptum really stung, because if he was here, a course he knows, he'd be going for the sub 2 hour marathon.

I think you misunderstood how that race worked. 1. There were rotating pacers, something that isn't allowed normally 2. It was a closed competition. Nobody else was allowed to enter the race besides Kipchoge and the pacers 3. There was a car that had used laser tech to show the pace of a 2:00:00 marathon so the pacers could have a consistent pace below 2:00 If you want a summarization of all of this, Kipchoge's sub 2 marathon didn't meet the IAAF requirements for it to be considered an official WR
