The hit on Bedard was not "ugly" at all. Normal hockey play. I'd say the biggest issue is Bedard is relatively short and that makes contact to his head highly susceptible.

@scotth-zz8hs5 ай бұрын
I kinda agree and disagree on this. I absolutely think it’s clean, shouldn’t even be 2 minutes. I think what makes it “ugly” is the result. I always hate to see someone get hurt, even on a clean play. To me, “ugly” doesn’t have anything to do with whether it’s a good hit, but what the result is (and to be clear, we shouldn’t mete out any punishment for clean hits that have ugly results).
@aitan65935 ай бұрын
The bedard hit has it all. Young talent crossing into the center lane, veteran defenseman playing the body, then teammates policing the hit. It’s good hockey and it’s a perfect reflection of where the game is right now. I feel a little sorry that bedard took a jaw fracture trying to put up points, but he’ll bounce back and he’s earned a stripe.

Regarding the high stick on Perfetti, in my opinion, if you're after revenge for what you consider a dirty play, go after the guy who made the play. Deliberately high-sticking a guy who had nothing to do with it except being on the same team is a cheap shot and a coward's move, and it doesn't get any better when you look at the standings and see that it's a cheap shot against a top team when you yourself are only really in the playoff hunt as a technicality. Eye-for-an-eye tends to go in circles, and going after young stars who didn't make the hit in the first place is a great way to ensure players like Kaprizov spend half their career on IR.
@canadianreserve5 ай бұрын
I think that tit for tat is fine, but you should be willing to pay the price. The suspensions are too short in the game by half. Want to wack someone in the eye for something 2 weeks ago? Don't complain when it costs you 6 games. Then we will see how important your revenge is.

Just wanna say thanks for showing the PWHL some love. I'm a Minnesota season ticket holder (right behind our bench), and was there for the home opener. It's a 5.5 hour drive for me, and worth every minute. The stadium was absolutely buzzing, and it made my eyes water a bit seeing all the girls in the crowd repping their various teams. I think this league is absolutely legit, and is going to change the game for the better for girls, boys, and everybody else involved in the best sport on this planet. Also, watching the warmies, I noticed Zumwinkle's (#13 MIN) hands were looking extra silky and I could tell she was going to be putting pucks in the net. I knew I should have brought a hat!

It's not uncommon for rookies to get injured, McDavid broke his collar bone, and hell, the Devils had their rookies injured too, Nico had a cage, Hughes busted his shoulder. These are small, young guys, and it's the risk they take playing at 19 with 30yo men. Not to mention, half the Devils current roster is out too, including Hughes who was lost in the same game. It's been a rough year for a lot of teams.

Wow didn't even notice, thanks for pointing it out. After seeing that death in the UK not long ago, I'm surprised people haven't been talking more about neck guards and close calls... I know a few players "tried it out" for a few games, but that unfortunate and gruesome death in today's social media world feels like it should have been a bigger deal. I've heard there are is a neck guard company that offers a couple that protect really well and aren't as annoying to wear, and it does feel like technology for something unobstrusive be strong enough to at least transform a life-threatening injury into "only" a serious one

@nster3 I remember hearing recently that neck guards will start to be required for the 2024 season but I don't remember what league it was for. They should be mandatory imo. I was at the Devils-Blackhawks game. That game got very chippy after the Bedard hit. One of the blackhawks hit Hischier and he had to leave the game but then he came back in the 2nd period. Every time either he or Hughes touched the puck the Blackhawks were trying to take them out. Hughes threw a reverse hit on one of the Blackhawks which caused another scrum. Most fans are realistic regardless of what team you cheer for. Anybody that needs to talk bad about a team or fanbase to feel better is just pathetic. You don't have to like a team but there's also no reason to talk sh*t about anybody either. I understand some people are jealous that the Leafs get all the attention but when you have the largest fanbase in the league, are the most valuable team, and are the mecca of the hockey world, that's just what's going to happen, whether successful or not, and the fact they've won the second most cup in history (not recently, obviously), that's going to add to it. The fact that the original 6 contained 2 Canadian and 4 American teams and the 2 Canadian have more cups then any of the 4, or any team since, makes some people, especially Americans, jealous or upset and make them not interested in the sport despite being the best sport.

How can anybody describe the cheap shot at the face off, a “physical play”? There was nothing tough or physical about it.

was a good hit but this is what hockey needs to bring back. Bring back the rough and tough game.
