After a 6 year hiatus, the #SubaruBRZtS has returned and this time, #Subaru has decided to make the #BRZtS a top trim level as opposed to a limited production model. The #tS stands for #TunedBySTI and even tho it lacks the turbocharged power some enthusiast were hoping for, this latest #SubaruBRZ takes the handling and braking performance up to the next level for not that much more money over the already excellent #BRZLimited.

No turbo is absolutely a plus. Everything now is heavy and numb. 86/Brz is as pure as it gets for a new car.

You mention there is only one STi logo located on the ignition button, but there is a second one located in the instrument cluster/tachometer area like all STi's before it . You can see it in some of your interiors shots with the engine running. (former 13 STi owner here - they were great cars!)

I am so bloody sick and tired of the endless black on black on black color choices. Those door cards should have some blue fabric to brighten the interior. Instead of having that tiny piece of blue fabric on the seats, the entire seat should be blue. These companies want to be cheap and save money, but a blue fabric doesn't cost any more than some black fabric costs, and yet an interior with color is night-and-day in terms of how nice it feels.

One thing that you should point out. According to the owners manual, 91 octane is required rather than recommended. The recommended octane is 93. I believe it also said if you run anything below 91, you risk damaging the engine.

I’ve been pretty sour on these cars since I blew a motor in the last gen out of warranty. That said, I rented a new BRZ for a weekend on Turo and really liked it. Think the Miata is a much better track option for reliability reasons. If you’re not gonna track it, the BRZ is so much fun.

If you track it does need better brakes, killer B oil pan and oil pickup. The RTV issue alone would necessitate that.

@@AndyE30 I think you’re rolling the dice if you take this to the track. Even with the upgrades. No guarantee they’ll work and you’ll likely void your warranty doing them. If you’re just gonna street drive, an extended warranty should give some peace of mind. My vote is for the Miata if you want to track and don’t need the extra space. What if you want to track and need space? Hate to say it but I’d save my money and get something proven to stand up to sustained hard driving. Unless you can afford a new BRZ motor if things go wrong that is.

I think Subaru nailed the tS. Took a fantastic drivers car and added to the handling dynamics and braking. It really needs nothing else although as mentioned the steering wheel seems too bland for the car. So glad they didn’t put a turbo in it. Naturally Aspirated RWD lightweight manual is the perfect recipe. Nice they didn’t ruin with a sunroof as well. I hope eyesight can be fully disabled. I’d prefer not having it. Not crazy about that feature

@@szn1580 The answers to your questions all depend on what you are used to, where you live, etc. I am averaging 26 mpg over the first 4000 miles. Did the first oil change (at 3500 miles) myself for around $60 - dealer will likely charge about $100 - won’t know until I take it for its 12 month service - probably usual Toyota or Subaru maintenance - $100-150 normally, maybe $300-400 every two years. Came from an Audi, so much, much cheaper than Audi was. If you drive it hard, be ready to pay for new tires often. As to monthly payments, that will depend on the deal you negotiate and the terms you get. Hope you get your hands on one! I love it, though when it comes to dreams, I long for a 2012-2014 Audi R8, V10, manual. 😍

Subaru is absolutely going to sell a ton of the tS model. It would be nice if brakes c& dampers an be upgraded package for the auto. Too bad they didn't do Recaro, it's available already on WRX GT. Infotainment is behind again, no reason in 2024 to not have wireless.

The turbo on the FA series of motors is mounted low, in front of the headers, unfortunately, that wouldn't work out well for the BRZ.

I think the BRZ & GR86 both use a unique Boxer engine that sports both port & direct injection.

Imagine how many cars are produced annualy by toyota alone. If 0.15% of all GR86 have engine blown because of the exact same reason thats probably the still lower or same amount that some toyota hybrid has problems from different sources. Thats just an example I dont know the numbers.

I've been saving up years to get a Miata Club, but for a similar price this BRZ tS is a compelling alternative. I love the additional practicality and interior space compared to Miata, especially as a daily driver, but of course you're giving up the convertible which is why it's such a tough decision. Both amazing cars that won't be around much longer.

I think we're in the same camp (researching with a Miata bias), and I have to say I'm still leaning towards the Miata. Sure, more space would be nice, but I'm noticing a few traits in the different videos I've seen. Everyone else is talking about numbers, Mazda is talking about fun. If I need more space, I'll rent a uhaul pickup for a weekend

My friend is 6ft 2in and even he fits in the driver's seat with no problem, although the transmission hump on the passenger side doesn't work for him. The ND Miata is more than spacious enough for pretty much anyone up to 6ft and most people up to 6ft 2.

GR86 is a great car. Ive owned all sorts of sports cars inckuding 6 figure ones. Few outside of a handful of 1990s Japanese sports cars have the agility and lightweight feel of an 86. Its a true successor to the AE86. I had a chance to buy a new S2000 CR around 2006 or so. I passed ans got an E46 M3 instead. S2000 is nice but the steering is totally numb, there is no torque (so it only comes alive when you find room to rev it all the way)and its snappy handling was not for me. The GR86 is much more.predictable and to be honest way more safe. Not to mention warranty and parts. I have an ND3 MX5 Club on order as the steering is by far the best of those three cars.

The only real "difference" is the brake upgrade and suspension upgrade. The blue stitching does differentiate it I guess from other BRZ / GR86 models, and a different wheel color compared to the grey that comes on the BRZ and the black on the GR86. I have a GR86, and the braking is already really good with stock rotors and pads, but for track use which I assume a lot of people will be doing, this is a good upgrade, but not for the price increase. The tS costs an extra $4,000-$5,000 or so without a dealer markup, and you can get better suspension and brakes for less money. I think this car is a little pointless honestly with the buyer market of these cars.

In Puerto Rico cars are to expensive The normal gr 86 is for 45,995 for that is better to by a gr corolla core 2024 that they ofer fo 47,500 and not every diler they go up to 59,999 in the core New and the Brz is not for sale in Puerto Rico the civic type r is for sale at 63,900 you could find a BMW m2 competition 2020 manual for 62,995 a 2021 for 85,995... in Puerto Rico one diler has a brz 2023 for 41,995 what do you recommend???

Subaru is done for. Even with Toyota’s co-development, Subaru’s engines aren’t getting any better. I’m not surprised rumors are saying that Toyota will leave Subaru and make their next GR86 by themselves. Another nail in the coffin for Subaru. I don’t see Subaru being in business in 15 years.
