#Toyota may have been late to the party with a sub-compact SUV but the #ToyotaCorollaCross is a much more competitive offering versus the old CH-R from last decade. The #CorollaCrossHybrid brings class leading efficiency that is lacking from its main rivals, and while the #ToyotaCorollaCrossHybrid doesn't quite have the off-road capability of the #SubaruCrosstrek, the same powertrain from the #ToyotaPrius may tempt buyers who are looking for class leading fuel economy.

Happy Saturday everyone! Hope your weekend is off to a great start! The Subaru Crosstrek may be the top seller the space but the Corolla Cross Hybrid is still the only hybrid in the segment and its sales are increasing every year! We're also expecting Lexus to send over the revised 2025 UX 300h very soon, which shares a platform with this vehicle and also gets the new hybrid powertrain from the Prius that is also in this car.

7:47 The spare tire part is wrong, sadly: Toyota stuck the high-voltage cable to the rear motor under the foam divider, so you couldn't put a spare there. (But that's better than on the RAV4, where that cable is on the outside and gets corroded in winter, and the hybrid warranty ignored!)

42 MPG and under 7 seconds, 0-60, is a pretty rare combination, for any vehicle, at any price. Starting at $33k for an SE model, with standard AWD, with more power and MPG than anything else, I think its a steal.

An extra set of beeps is the rear seat reminder on newer Toyota vehicles, but I don’t think that’s what you experienced - it sounded more of a long beep. If you open a rear door (i.e. putting a child, object in the back seats), it will alert you when you attempt to lock the doors, as you did. I believe it unlocks the doors (even though I don’t think it did on your tester) and plays the beeps because you likely forgot something or someone in the back. Of course you can turn it off; it’s a feature with TSS 3.0 vehicles. Great video as always!

Your review of the back space is spot on. A lot of prospective buyers think this is an inexpensive alternative to the RAV4. It isn't. If you have a growing family and need second row space, this car won't work. As an aside, you will find most of the hybrids already pre-sold. The percentage sold, as you reported, is not because of demand but because of the supply constrictions at the new Mazda-Toyota plant in Alabama. Apparently, there is a shortage of skilled workers in that state. If Toyota was able to produce (or import) more of these cars, the numbers would be higher

I have read that a company called Modern Spare makes a tire that will fit if the foam is removed. Don't know how true that is but I'll check into it. But I believe to do so the tire needs to be resting on top of the power cable. Not sure how smart that is.

I was in an accident and needed a vehicle so went with the Honda HRV Sport. Great solid vehicle but obviously not a hybrid and it does not have much power at all. Gas mileage is not great either on the Civic platform but it handles like a dream, the AWD is wonderful AND I was able to actually GET ONE lol. Good review, Subbed and watching your other vids now.

I really like the overall exterior of the Corolla Cross. I always notice them when I see one on the road. My concern is that the interior is not only bland, it looks too basic & cheap which is sad. Very good review. I agree about the monitor being on the small side. Toyota has no option for a larger one. Some of the interior seems cheap. Another drawback is the rear seats not folding completely flat. The Rav4 hybrid is a much better car and has more features (as well as a spare tire) but at a much greater price. However the smaller size of the CCH allows me to maneuver better in city traffic and parking lots. The extra fuel economy is also nice.

Toyota dealerships, at least here in the USA, have helped ruin the brand. Plus, all the stupid tech-bloat in newer vehicles today have made even the best-rated brands more problematic, less reliable, & more costly to own longer-term than they were 10-20 years ago. My 2020 TNGA Toyota was the most problematic vehicle that I have owned in over 40 years & 10 different new vehicles during that time, needing towing for repair after failures/breakdowns on multiple occasions during the 2 years & 10K miles that I kept it. Between awful dealerships & my last Toyota experience, I have soured on the brand.

Didn't want to wait, didn't want sunroof, wanted paddles... In 4-1/2 months, don't use paddles, use sunroof ALL the time 🥴 I ALWAYS hypermile. Get 80+MPG non highway, 56-59 highway, didn't get number for freeway 70mph... I'm single haven't had a passenger in @10 years, going to remove front passenger seat for maximum utility, still have rear seats if needed. Perfect. The XSE instruments panel would be nice, but not $3k! Everything else is useless fluff, bigger wheels cut economy.

Bought mine in jet black, my favorite color! Has good power and absolutely love the interior compared to the cheaper look of the cross trek. I love the power lift gate! The exterior is awesome to me, everything is relative to each person’s taste. I don’t buy a vehicle for the screen size, which looks ugly in the Subaru compact suv. Totally disagreed either your analysis of the dash. It’s fine and my favorite color. The main thing I love is the look of the front end, which I don’t like on the other models of the cross-as opposed to the XSE. The thing I like best is that Toyota has the best reliability, resale value - had a Camery for 20 years and sold it, had a Corolla s 2005 for 15 years and sold it. Love Toyota! I was given a Honda HRV for a loaner, seemed more cheaply made and interior was not so great. I do have a Honda accord 2007 and runs well and will be selling it.

Is the 2024 different from the 2023 CC Hybrid? My wife Bought a 2023 Leftover in February and I have to say, I hate the thing. When accelerating a good clip the engine is very utilitarian, reminds me of a 70s Pinto in noise and feel. It has no Insulation under the hood. The Seats are not very comfortable and I'm not sure who designed the cockpit cause the cupholders are down right against the console/armrest so that if you have a large fountain drink the straws hit you in the wrist. The infotainment system puts out sound quality akin to 1980s radio shack speakers.. not sure what is up with that. We have places under the hood that are void of paint, showing only light grey primer. Performance is good, fuel economy is good, but the 2017 Escape we traded for this car was much more comfortable to drive on a regular basis. We also have a 2018 Equinox that just feels so much better to drive from an ergonomics standpoint. the Stereo is so much better, the infotainment interaction much smoother and the seats have more adjustability. My wife is a Hospice nurse and needs something reliable because sometimes she is on call and responding to peoples house in rural areas at 3am, in that respect I have no doubts this will be reliable and thats why we bought it, Im sure it will run for a long time, however when shes not driving it for work it just sits and we take a 6 year old vehicle with 87K miles on it because its more comfortable and has better placed cupholder and the engine doesnt sound like its ready to pass through the firewall and land in your lap under hard acceleration.

You hate it because of...the cupholders? Really? The optional JBL sound system is excellent if you care about audio. If you can't make the 10-way power heated driver's seat work for you, I don't know what to say. As a passenger, I think the seating isn't terrific. But you won't be the driver; she will be. An Equinox is a much, much larger vehicle. Take that if you drive together. A new one will be far more expensive than this XSE.

The looks are ok for me. I actually prefer it over RAV4 and awesome power train. Fast for what it is. Also when Toyota made the Corolla Cross I was disappointed they didn't just electrify the CHR and add AWD. I think the CHR is much better looking. I'm a person that thinks all Mazdas look better than the Toyotas. So don't judge me on the CHR

I've had mine for about 6 months and I like the size, mileage and performance. I do mostly city driving. Not crazy about the buzziness, but it is not a deal breaker, either. Yes, the interior is "meh;" I came from a fully loaded Mazda CX-5 and miss some of the amenities like the heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, heated wipers and HUD. I hope that Toyota put the money in the drivetrain and construction of a more reliable vehicle. Time will tell.

Your eyes should be on....the road. A big screen is useful if you are legally blind, but a lot of things can be done without the screen by saying, "Hey, Toyota?". Or ask Siri. She is usually helpful.

Unfortunately not- especially compared to the LE trim... SE to SE trim- there is a big difference- But is the buyer of this type of vehicle wanting to pay for sporty trim? Not me anyway- Would much rather this vehicle in an LE trim, then it would be much less MSRP than the RAV4 and worth the compromise in terms of interior space

Have the SE trim- which is the "base" trim in Canada. Was not charged any markups. Wonderful practical vehicle with incredible fuel economy. I do wish I could have gotten the hybrid drivetrain in an LE trim- Trim to trim it is cheaper than the RAV4, but an LE RAV4 hybrid is not that much more expensive... But with the way prices are moving - The upcoming redesigned RAV4 hybrid will probably only be offered in S-ish trims and be a LOT more $$$$ than the Corolla Cross... Love this car- Exciting? No But it is everything I need and more, and I can afford it! First car I have ever owned with heated steering wheel and seats- wow!
