I bought one back in October That trim and that color around 1300 miles on it. I love the color and it catches attention. It's a solid car, drives well in the snow as I just learned on Tuesday. Gets 40 MPG give or take depending on how aggressive you drive it. Adaptive cruise control and lane keeping (which are both new to me) make highway driving easy. Rear seats won't fold if the front seats are too far back. The fuel light and warning bells come on with 2.5 gallons still in the tank. The app is great when it works, or it may be easier to just go out and start the car rather than waiting for it to connect for remote start. After driving in eco mode for a month switching to sport mode can be a surprise as it really takes the reins off the engine. Overall just a solid car which I'm going to drive for the next 10+ years.

The headrest in the Rav4 is super fim (or maybe it's because it's still new), so it's not very comfortable. On a long trip, it can get annoying. If you plan to take a lot of long trips, I 'd say choose the Rav4, we bought it because the cargo capacity is almost double of the Corolla Cross, and that can be a big deal.

Since I own the CCH AWD, it's important to emphasize that it really does get 42 MPG and it is much faster than other similar Toyota's that are not hybrid. The torque from the 3 motors is quite impressive, especially accelerating off the line. The only negative is the 10.6 gallon gas tank. This limits the practical range to only about 325 miles. (I've never been able to get more than 8 gallons in it.) Imagine a 16 gallon tank with a 500+ mile range. That would make this car a home run.

Your indepth reviews are absolutely the best. Thank you so much for continuing to educate us. That said, certain reviews would also benefit from a short test drive, driving experience. One inportant fact (that I may have missed) is that straight gas, non-hybrid version is so under powered ..that many even have concerns about ‘safely’ while merging into highway traffic from the top of a entrance ramp. My neighbor has the gas cross and is very dissapointed with its seemingly lack of power. The cross hybrid on the other hand, while not exactly a powerhouse, is NOTABLY more powerful ..as might be expected from a hybrid. A strong reason to choose hybrid for those on the fence between hybrid ..or gas. Thanks again for your continuing great reviews.

Many thanks for explaining all of the extra, useful and important information about the Toyota Corolla Cross HYBRID. My husband and I have leased many different cars for almost fifty years. Our favourite one for almost four years is the Toyota Corolla Cross HYBRID. I am a member to the Motability scheme so we have chosen many different types of cars for a three year leasing. We really love this car for its extra room, safety, comfort, security and the rear camera for parking. The screen on the dashboard which has many uses is particularly good for seeing how close you are to the kerb, driving directions, the view from the back when you are reversing.and the miles per gallon that you are driving at. We have been leasing this type of car for more than three years now and I doubt if we will ever chose a different type of car. Toyota cars are also the safest and most reliable type of car compared to all others. The precision of the way this car was created is amazing. It is definitely worth spending more money to lease or buy it.

If space isn't a big deal, one can purchase a combination that includes a mini spare tire, jack, and lug wrench, and secure it in the cargo area; it's annoying that this even has to be considered, but the space taken up is not all that much. I definitely would consider purchasing this vehicle if I downsize from my Rav4 Hybrid.

There are catalytic converter shields available for this car. I got one for my 2023 Corolla Cross Hybrid I disagree on the exterior color. My 2023 cross hybrid is this color. Got many compliments on it. It stands out, which for some might not work for them. But Toyota rarely has colors beyond black, white, grey, blue, and red unless it's one of their trucks. Also I'm glad the Piano Black moulding is not on the sides of the car. The matte finished moulding hides scratches better than a glossy finish would. Some odd things on the 2023 is the cup holder in the front console has only the front holder truely accessable. The back one is covered by the console storage lid. The wheel well, as mentioned, has the high voltage cables instead of a spare tire. The can of "Cheez Wiz" and an air compressor don't compare to a spare tire. Also there is no leg room in the back if the front seats are pulled all the way back. The front passenger seat is tight for leg room even when pulled all the way back. The glove box sticks out too much which creates the tight leg room. But I love my car. The mpg is avg. 43mpg, in colder weather its a bit less. Actually much better than the 2014 Prius I owned prior to my Cross.

I average 4.5l/100k on my rural commute: 5.5 at 110-120km/hr on the highway; and less than 4 in city traffic. This car replaces my Prius C- that I drove for over 10 years and 290,000 kms- the fuel economy is near identical to that tiny thing! I agree on the frustration re the lack of LE trim! Trim to trim the Corolla cross is still less expensive, but the SE trim pushes its price close to a RAV4 LE hybrid! Very frustrating. I would have much preferred the lower price of an LE trim. I've had my Cross S for 2 weeks now. I am amazed by how big the car is, yet has no storage space. I had a 2010 Prius (which I loved and miss) so am comparing what I had in the Prius to what I currently have in the Cross. On the cross, they put the battery in where the spare tire should be, so you lost all that storage room, and don't have a spare tire. (the prius had the spare, then a nice storage bin on top and then a nice cover). There's a weird bin (?) area (about the size of a shoe box) on the left side of the cargo area which doesn't get covered by the cargo mat, not sure what can be stored there since it's an odd shape. There's only a small area in the front between the seats - this could have been made into a nice armrest/storage bin. There's only a small glove box (not the 2 like in the Prius). He is absolutely right about the backseat area being tiny. I don't have passengers, so it's not much of a concern for me. Lastly it doesn't come standard with a retractable cover for the back storage area. On the plus side, it does ride and handle nice.

I considered a cross gas model when i was driving 130 miles a day for work. They weren't really easy to get to test drive as I'd have to order one prior to seeing it, at the time. I stuck with trading my tacoma and xB in for a rav4. I have no regrets. I love my rav4. I still respect the cross, even after the review. I find the cross hybrid interesting. I think it has use in the market. Its cute.

It says 45city/38 high way! How can u get 50mpg on highway? Is this real? I really want to get this car. Debating between this one or Prius. I was attracted to Prius cuz it is rated 56mpg on high way. Does this mean prius can potentially get 60-70mpg on freeway???

My 2022 Corolla-cross, gas version, gets 6.3 L/100km average. That's way better than the EPA rating. Last night, I got 5.2 L/100km on a 90km highway trip vs. 7.0 L/100km EPA rating. I don't really understand why, but I can't complain about it 😂

I had a Corolla Cross as a loaner after my GR Corolla was delivered with the wrong shift knob and I thought it was a very nice car for the price. Good space, nice ride height, comfy, great mpgs, and like all toyotas very easy to drive especially with their current lane centering and adaptive cc. And yep i too have always thought the rear end looked like the 1st gen sienna 😂

Being a dinosaur myself, I drive a 1999 small engine Camry. 25 years of driving, and an odometer of just over 131,000 miles. It is a Japanese Camry. You can tell since the key insert is on the dashboard. and I love that feel, very old school. I bought my late wife a 2008 Hybrid Highlander (Gen 2 hybrid?) It died after 75,000 miles. I can't wait to get my next Toyota, a 5th gen hybrid.

Those symbol of Corolla Cross mean something just like they did with Prius, Camry, new 4Runner and so on. I like it because it is different. I am still waiting for 2025 Toyota Corolla Cross and i hope they will refresh it ASAP in late 2024. I hope they updated the new radio, added the spare tire on Hybrid model, put the new 2.5L on the new refresh Toyota Corolla Cross and also added more space in the back seat and new alarm system. It is a SUV not a small sedan like Prius and Corolla.

The lack of any type of spare tire is not acceptable to me, especially when there appears to be space for one, if only Toyota would have relocated the few high-voltage components there (something I would prefer to not mess with, myself).

I use to flag for traffic for my job, it can be incredibly boring sometimes, so to pass the day I would look to see which cars had the worst paint jobs, The ones were the paint start to peel, I found that the Toyota Corolla even up to 5 years old, not only did the paint peel but it came off completely and it was not uncommon to see a full rusted roof, I worked in the SW of the US, so zero rust issues. Now you could tell which ones were garaged because their paint lasted.

I think you miss 1 thing on this car is "there have no sunglass holder on this one". I realize it after too late. Also the under the car to soo widely open that the road noise will make a little lound inside the cabin . This car is very good with black color because all the accessory is in black and it match well with the trim flare and front bumper. The most value/price you get is from SE model because the remote starter is pre-included (3 year trial with app + vehicule locator) in the car. SE you still have engine RPM + Speedometer dial. the badging is good if you want to buy the car used. it will confirm if the part is original or after market.

No spare tire is a no deal for me. I know more cars are coming out without them. But in my experience, its essential. Theres nothing worse then getting a flat in a state that doesnt have readily available tow companies and you have to leave your car overnight on the highway at risk for an accident or theft. Not to mention paying for an emergency hotel stay. Never again.

It doesn't matter whether the driver can change the tire or not. Roadside assistance, or just a passerby, can change it for you. With today's proliferation of tire sizes, you could be waiting several days for a replacement.

I have a question. Our 2023 Corolla cross has 1600 miles on it and it is overheating and we took it in to the dealership and it is the water pump that broke. 2 months just to get the part…we have a loaner car…should I be worried about this ruining the engine? Should I ask for a oil change now that this happened? Do you think it’s just a fluke thing that happened? Thanks for all your reviews of the cars! Denise

Check the lemon laws in your state. Some go by number of problems, some go by amount of time the car is out of service. Depending upon where you live, you might be able to use your state's lemon law to convince Toyota to replace your vehicle.

The 12v battery in the back 7:35 is OK. Last one I had there lasted 9 years, probably due to less vibration and heat. So where in the back is it please? I agree about the spare being displaced by that wiring box. Maybe in future they will find a better place for it. Your videos are well done.
@LeeMartin-i1s Жыл бұрын
Car Nut Guy, I enjoy your videos. Two things I wish reviewers would mention are, (1) how easy it is to enter an exit the car for people that may have some physical limitations. Does one have to fall into the seats and crawl out? and, (2) car companies are doing away with spare tires. (Not Good!) If a car doesn't have a spare tire, do they have run flat tires? I don't want to get stuck on the freeway and have to wait for help. Too many bad guys out there looking for a quick rob and run victim. Thanks. (What is your opinion of run flat tires?)
@Cathy-xi8cb5 ай бұрын
Run flat tires are awful. BMW removed them from their line for a reason. To make it easy to enter and exit a car, you want to do a "sit-pivot" move rather than place one leg into the car and them climb in. This requires the car to have enough ground clearance to allow that without sitting too low. You also want a fairly high roof line so you don't have to bend forward. And finally, the door has to open wide enough. This car meets that criteria. Many, but not all, subcompact SUVs will as well. The Lexus UX, for example, sits too low for this. Stay in your vehicle on the highway if you have a flat, and request that your emergency roadside assistance technician call you with the number they have been provided. Toyota gives you 24 months of free assistance, and you can cheaply purchase it from your insurance carrier after that. No need to fear.

I am about 3 months in to my 23 CCH SE, coming from the 22CC LE. I was happier with the fit and finish of my LE than with my SE. The most noticeable to me is that my trunk is slightly more left aligned… something I’ve debated asking the dealership to address, but will probably let it go. Fit/finish aside however, I wouldn’t go back to the slow LE. I missed having my 18 Rav4 Hybrid and was happy to get back in a Hybrid. I am usually a little lead footed and on longer trips I get 36-38 mpg. But whenever I’m in town and not in a hurry, I get in the mid-50s. Got a record high for me of 65 one time. My biggest issue with the CC and CCHybrid is the small fuel tank, 10.2 or 10.3 gallons goes kinda quick. The hybrid added about 10 miles to the gallon so instead of gassing up every 250 miles I usually can go about 350 without being too stressed about distance. I made sure to heed your suggestion with any new car purchase, had the oil changed at 1k, and coming up on 5k by the end of this week. As always, @CarCareNut you inform us of so much and we appreciate you! Wishing you and your family a happy holiday season!

The Toyota Corolla Cross XSE AWD Hybrid is $39,995 Canadian. The Toyota Camry XSE with its 55mpg combined is $42,265/ But there is a better chance to negotiate on the less popular sedan. Regardless - the Camry is more luxurious and offers a considerably nicer interior. I know SUVs are popular but I think you'd really want to look at the Camry at this price point.

the factory needs to spray rust protection on some things and grease other things better like the brake components and rim and wheel hubs, wheel nuts, electrical connections like grounds with exposed copper pinch connectors. something like the "krown" process or the like. otherwise is pretty irresponsible the way they leave some things just open to salty road spray - they should at least do it for winter road markets instead of us having to worry about it going around with rust inhibitor spray cans.

I've had my 2023 Hybrid SE for a couple months now and 6,600 miles, and I track every fill-up -- thus far lifetime is 51.7 MPG but I do try to drive smoothly, so more abrupt stops and starts will obviously knock down the MPGs. I changed the oil at 3,700 miles and it still looked new, will change after another 6,300 and see how that looks, but will probably then change every 5k as the CCN recommends. Thanks to CCN for the thorough review!
