Rome make the Rolls Royce of bindings. (I also like lots of moving parts to get the perfect set up for me.) Used Targa's for years and now Katana's and Cleaver's. Game changer after previously using somewhat average bindings from Union and Burton.

Went from decades on 390’s to Katanas the last couple years. Are you stoked with the Cleaver?

@@crowe9385 cleavers were my first set of Rome bindings in 2022 I now have katanas and black labels for my other boards but my cleavers are my work horses absolutely love them

Saved me parts and a bad day. Thanks to Angry making me the product, I purchased these fantastic things 1-2 years ago. I was in a hurry throwing them back on to begin the year. After seeing this breakdown in my feed I took a look at mine, as something felt different. Sure enough, my heel cup screws on both bindings were almost gone and the chassis was forward. I was barely able to reach the first click on my toe strap all day. New boots, but I didn’t remember them being that big. You guys might be saving lives, certainly dollars, aggravation, and time snowboarding.

That's the goal. The product is people that snowboard, the end result is they become snowboarders.

As I hit ‘like’…to being the product… The heel bolt on the binding(opposite side to the one I bent back into position) held by my thumb…was now apparently now under tension itself and popped off and bounced down my air duct four feet away. The instant I hit ‘like’, Ping. Least I have tools and channels we can trust.

Thanks for a great review. Switched from Union Atlas last year to Rome Katanas an NOW Select pro an Drive pro. All of them are gone but the Skate tech bindings. I was looking for dampening cushioning response and stability. Atlas no cushioning, gone. Katanas, excellent cushioning, the foam on the base returns energy... I ollied higher with them but the boards felt "too lively" the board chattered more at the tips IMO, so less stable. Screw on the outside connecting metal chasis and plastic base needed some love quite soon, and the metal chasis has some play to the plastic base at that point no matter how tight the screw was. I wonder if full wrap had solved these issues. Great bindings and great adjustability with pivot mounting, which really changes the flex, but skate tech was a clear winner for my needs being 49 yo with more focus on carving and less park nowadays. If the foam in the base woul be less reactive, I would consider them again, maybe the bataleons are my call, TC how is the base foam compared to the bataleons? Thanks

I believe the NOW base is much larger and would create a bigger dead spot, possibly taming what the board is doing? When I tried the Mercurys on my Shadowban the thing felt dead, but stable.

@fZionists78 i think mercurys are too stiff for the shadowbahn with the carbon post. It is hard to describe what the Katanas did, really felt like spring loaded You could load them compressing and they will return all that energy upwards. I didn't desire that behavior it literally buck me several times. I switched to stratas and select pros the same day in the same board. Almost the same butterability an much more predictive riding.

Nice review TC. Will you be reviewing this seasons Vice? Been looking at them lately along with the Union Ultra.

So you don't recommend the alignment of the highback with the edge?

I love it. Used to drill new holes to move it around. Now, to easy.

Hey guys, excellent review, thank you! Wondering if it's too much binding for someone who just go into freestyle? Been riding for a few years, comfortable on small jumps and carving but just now starting to focus more on freestyle. first boxes, first rails, spins off of jumps, etc.. afraid that the highback will be too stiff for somebody that is now just starting to jib.. had the vice's a few years ago, really liked them but the strap was giving me pressure points on my back foot's instep. To pair with yes typo and resort twin. Thanks!

hey guys, been having a problem of what I would call almost a “shin bang” but on the outside of my shin from my boots. Any sort of impact on slightly firmer snow bashes my boot in. This has been going on with my old soft boots and my new stiffer flex boot. This problem didn’t start until 2 seasons ago and my old boots used to feel just fine. I thought it was the canting in my k2 formulas, switched to some Jones Mercurys and as great as those bindings are, im still having that problem. Been searching everywhere for answers but no one seems to have this problem. Any advice would be great. Thanks!
@AngrySnowboarder4 күн бұрын
It’s not a binding issue. There’s too much space between your shell and liner. Either tie the boot tighter or put some foam in there to suck up the volume and make it more snug.

Thinking of moving on from my Jones Meteorites on my Mountain Twin. Looking for a bit more response. Would the Katanas be a good choice for added response? Thanks!
@craigwilliams90644 күн бұрын
You can adjust the straps and highbacks to give you plenty of response. If you need a more rigid baseplate, then step up to the Rome Cleaver which is exactly the same but without the asym baseplate wrap.
@johnk.l.55184 күн бұрын
@craigwilliams9064 Thanks, will also look into the Cleavers.
