The current and steady trend towards urbanisation will compel militaries to fight in a human and physical terrain that is in some ways antithetical to entrenched concepts of manoeuvre. Moreover, the very expansion of cities has rendered them an increasingly complex ecosystem that is difficult to control. In this Adversarial Studies seminar, Professor Anthony King will discuss the distinctive features of the 21st century urban operating environment, and the challenges of fighting within it.
