As an avid Rocky Fan I have to say that this looks like a masterpiece. So many photos that have never been seen! Not a criticism but the correct way to turn pages is from the top right of the page. If you are lucky enough to own this book then its life we be prolonged by turning the pages this way.

Thank you for the video and description of this _rocky_ book. The books _ok_ . Over the years There's been _lots of_ books published in japan and Germany on the Balboa movies . Think the book is worth £100 /£150. Keep sharing

There is material in the book that has never been published before-I researched and found them in the archives. The price is based on the rarity of the signatures and objects, and the quality of production/reproduction, as is normal with collector/limited editions. Hopefully when this edition is sold out a cheaper edition will be published down the line.

Pushed the boat out on this! Rocky 3 did the rounds on VHS when I was a kid - I absolutely loved it (Mr T and Hulk Hogan in the same film!!!). It wasn't until years later, I actually saw the first Rocky film - which is now my favourite(I love the time spent on Philadelphia life more than the boxing part of the story). I love the size of this book and the photos(it seems from a totally different world) are magnificent!

Yes, it's Rocky's "everyman" character, and the love story, which are more Charlie Chaplin than anything else, which make the first movie so enjoyable.

@@wordsmithpd I really like how each film has a different feel. Whilst I love Stallone in the films, I really enjoy Burt Young and Burgess Meredith performances also. I actually think Micky knew that Rock got beaten by Clubber.

@@wordsmithpd It's a brilliant video and I got what you were saying. Rocky is a much more compelling character that Rambo. I feel Stallone knows this and as you say in the video, each film displays a different era. As a kid, I really liked the excess of 3 but only picked up on the nuances of Rocky not being comfortable with it all, as I got older. It's a really good film in it's own right. As a whole, It must be one of the best(and only) character arcs of any character and as fan, there are some eras I prefer over others! Wonderful book!

Normally TASCHEN publish a limited edition, wait for it to sell out - which can take a few years - and then release a cheaper edition. The cost is because of the large amount of a research, and production work, copyrights, and other costs associated with such a project - it took 6 years to get the book published - this is a similar process as with other books published by TASCHEN.

I’ll buy this next month. Nice looking good book. Sorry to write this, but his signature inside super awful. I have better sign by him. Book quality is stunning, but if selling edition over £600 I am expecting at least his normal SS sign or if he could close to full name.....I know it’s not your fault. This my opinion

I understand. In his defence, Sly had 1976 books to sign as well as the limited edition photos! BTW The price goes up to £1000 in the new year, so if you want the book, I'd advise you to click the link sooner rather than later.

@Totally Max TASCHEN raise the prices of some of their Limited and Collector Editions every few years. It is normal practice in the art market to increase the price when fewer are available.

@@dimifisher As I explain in the video, I was surprised by the development of the saga, and I think it reflects the life of Sly somewhat as well as drawing upon different fights in boxing history. But if you don't like them that's fine.

@@dimifisher It's a limited collector's edition, and there is an even more limited art edition, all signed by Sly - high production values - all things that put up the price. When this sells out, there will probably be a more affordable edition in a few years.

The Limited Signed Edition is £1000 (signed by Sly). The Limited Art Edition "B" (which has a photo by Neil Leifer in an edition of 25, signed by both Sly and Neil) is £5000. After these books sell out they gain in value. The Limited Art Edition "A" has already sold out.
