I used to work at a mazda dealership. Customers would usually compare it to the bmw z3 saying that the z3 was faster. The manager would overhear and tell me to take em on a hot lap around town. The miata can literally be thrown into a corner and be adjusted mid turn with a small amount of steering input. These customers were amazed and NONE of them mentioned the z3 after our run. Some said it was the fastest they had been in. We sold dozens of em per month. They really are a scalpel. Never driven one with a turbo but, one guy had a 5.0 liter ford motor in his that sounded like it meant business. Great car and video. Thanks for bringing back the memories fellas!

gonna have to start using that one when people give me shit and tell me to get a diffrent car haha. Old beamers are quick and grip but dont have the same driving feel as the miata and don't inspire as much confidence in drivers at the limit (on a track this is ok, but back roads you might fly off a cliff" turbo is a great route just finishing my 92 C Package with a 1.8l and gt2871r, should be up and tuned soon when i get the exhuast done. The stock miata 1.6 can hold a lot of power, but it's torque and where it comes in that bends rods. Higher Torque levels at higher rpms tend to treat the rods better. So a bigger turbo will definitely be easy on these engines.

While I now own and drive a stock Mazdaspeed 3 I still also have my last car sitting in my garage,which is a 2000 year model NB 1.8 liter that's stock as well with just a short ram intake. The car used to run just fine,but started having some odd unknown issue where it would randomly break down on me and after being left alone for an hour would crank right back up as if there was never even a problem in the first place but in time,it just wouldn't ever even crank up at all one day and haven't figured out the problem since and that's why I now own and drive a 2010 MS3 instead. While the MS3 is certainly a beast in stock form compared to the Miata,it just isn't anywhere near as fun to drive due to it's lack of go kart like feeling and handling like the Miata has. If I had the money and time as well as the tools I'd be doing whatever I could to get the car up and running again but for the time being at the very least,I don't really have any of that sort of stuff and so the car is sitting in the garage collecting dust.

I own a Miata and I tell you what, it’s really not about which wheels do the driving cause all drive types can be equally as fast. It’s really just if you can handle what you’re driving. Everyone knows fwd is easier to drive since you’re less prone to oversteer so I bet if you hopped in a 250 hp civic and a 250 hp Miata, you’d do better in the civic. Just saying... fwd is a matter of point and go. There’s not a lot of reacting to do except manage understeer, which I didn’t get much of in my old civic... oh yeah and you shouldn’t be taking corners fast enough to feel understeer anyway lol
@AnArmoredMarch6 жыл бұрын
@@TempusAurum getting a fwd car to rotate properly is more difficult to do than with any other setup, as it usually requires more aggressive trail braking, finer throttle control, and a sharper line. Fwd is more forgiving, but it's definitely not easier to wring out all of its potential. Rwd is easy to hit the limit with, you just point and go, taking the widest line
