That second one hits home. My wife developed that belly. She was a slim woman. She had a blood transfusion due to septicemia before AIDS when blood wasn't screened as much. She got hep C, which shows no symptoms. When her belly first showed, 30 years later, we went to a doc. Less than two months later she was dead from liver cancer. Get tested, people. She could have been saved if she had just had simple tests.

Also I supposedly am supposed to have tons of visceral fat according to this video, I have very little-I know, I've had numerous MRIs around there for years. It is always best to try to seek multiple doctors if you have concerns, 2cd opinions don't hurt but they can save lives. (I'd be dead if I had listened to 1st opinions a few times now actually.)

I am not an alcoholic, but was drinking very regularly, I have this sagging belly and seem to bloat everytime I eat. I’m 5 weeks sober I’m fasting and eating almost zero carbs plus lifting weight. My starting weight was 227ibs I’m now down to 217ibs. It’s a very slow process, but the weight is starting to fall. Thankfully I’m 6`2” and big boned so carrying 22ibs of extra weight is easily hidden, but this nasty fat has to go. It’s sad that at 47 I’ve only just woken up and made this change, but with these great videos and some lifestyle changes progress is being made. My one saving grace in all this, I don’t like sweets, candy, cake or chocolate. I’ve never drank soda and hate fast food. So dietary changes have been really easy. I feel for people that like these kinds of foods, giving them up must be tough.

@Craig M No. The two are VERY different. If you just eat fewer calories throughout the day, you will still NEVER see the benefits of fasting. You can eat 1500 calories a day at 300 lbs and see a huge difference in your body when comparing fasting vs just a calorie deficit. Eating 3-6 small meals at 1500 calories doesn't give you enough time to fast. If you fast you would be eating that 1500 calories within a 1-8 hour window and be in a fasted state the remaining 16-23 hours. Giving your body a heck of a lot more time to not be digesting food but to heal itself and burn fat. But if you just eat 1500 calories throughout the day as the normal American eats you never truely go into a long enough fast to see the benefits. 8 hours while you sleep is NOT enough....I would even go as far as to say that nothing is really good enough at less than 16 hours of fasting. So again.....NO.....sleep is NOT enough of a fast. 16 - 72hrs and up, is a beneficial fast.

The only way youll see results is a calorie deficite. While some diets are healthier for you, at the end of the day in order to burn fat anywhere on your body needs to consume less calories than it needs to maintain itself. Good work on the resistance training. I’d focus more on that as it has the added benefit of building muscle which leads to less fat, more strength, etc. of course keep your protein intake high as to maximize that muscle growth while in a deficite you’d want to have more protein in your meals

I cannot say thank you enough, I feel empowered for the first time in my life. And you are right, I'm not hungry at all during the fast. A protruding waist can mean your life will soon go to waste. Thank you Dr. Berg for placing so much focus on visceral fat. You, along with Dr. Sean O'Mara, are right in emphasizing how the midsection can be so informative when assessing someone's health. Many doctor's office would do so much good if they were just to do a height to waist ratio measurement, and use that as a barometer to predict ones future health.

Thanks, just started watching your channel. I found out I was heading to pre-diabetic a month ago and changed my diet. I'm not on the Keto diet (I find it too hard to stick to). I do a very very low carb no refined sugar diet. I also started a good multivitamin and doubled my vitamin D (4000 iu). I also started intermittent fasting. Some of your stuff sounds extremely hard, but I've noticed even small changes are making an enormous difference. The more I adjust to the diet the more I want and crave the good foods. For everyone starting out hang in there! I'm a little over a month in and down over 10 pounds. I already sleep better, have a me balanced mood and no longer get the blood sugar ups and downs.

For cirrhosis, I would also look into liposomal sodium-compounded R-Alpha Lipoic Acid, and Carnitine. These with a good gamma-tocotrienol supplement, is a powerful combination to rebuild the liver. The standard Alpha Lipoic Acid supplements are relatively cheap, but not very useful, due to the fact that half the dose is the wrong chimeral form, and the other half is mostly neutralized by stomach acid.

You are a game changer, thank you so much. I've been really depressed about my stomach since 5th grade I've had this protruding belly although I was skinny and now that I'm getting older, it's only gotten worse. If I drink water or if I put anything into my stomach it makes the effects more drastic and now I'm on a weight loss Journey, in efforts to lose my stomach. However, I seem to be losing weight faster everywhere else. I have the protruding basketball stomach type. I remember going to the doctor and them asking me if I drink and I say no I don't drink at all, I follow a strict healthy diet, and they said that's weird because you're liver levels are high and I didn't know what that could indicate but now that makes sense what you said about the protruding stomach and liver damage. Now I have some basis to find a final solution. Thank you so much Dr. Berg. APTTMH!

I am a 44 year old male, 5'10 245lbs I think I am the 1st type of belly fat on your list. But I need some help to determine what I need to do about my belly fat. Several years ago I did something stupid to lose a lot of weight fast but then I gained it back after not eating right. I tried the protein shake, the one where you substitute 1 meal with the shake, but being desperate and people calling me a pregnant man and laughing at me all the time. I replaced all my meals with this shake and about 2-4 months I lost 40lbs of weight getting down to 201, my ideal weight is 175-180, this is what I weighed when I was in my late teen's and early 20's. I've been walking for an hour everyday for going on 6-7 years now, even when there is snow and ice on the road. I only eat about 2-3 times per day. The only sweeter I use is stevia ( I researched the correct version) and I was almost a diabetic a few years ago until I switched from table sugar to stevia. I just need to know what type of liver detox ( I watched your video on the shake to make) and what type of eating plan to use. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

@nataliewood44992 жыл бұрын
I heard in another of his videos that after menopause, it's not that you have too much estrogen but that the ratio of estrogen to progesterone is high. Essentially both are low after menopause but estrogen is relatively high.
@bethtori26403 жыл бұрын
So if a sagging belly is from too much estrogen then why are menopausal women prone to the weight gain around the middle. We lose estrogen during and after menopause so how can that type of belly be from too much estrogen? So confusing 😏 If you could explain the rationale it would be very helpful to thousands of women who are experiencing this frustrating occurrence.
@wendell60203 жыл бұрын
When we go into menopause our adrenals back up our ovaries and that causes a spike in cortisol..so you most likely are the first body type or a combination of the first and third ..I am..so I most likely had the third body type pre-menopause and then became the first body type after and during menopause because my body dropped my estrogen severely

Correct, young women are full of estrogen! We have been lied too, estrogen loss causes heart attacks, thinning bones, sagging skin, mood swings, and belly fat. I am 50, had my last child at 46, and have no belly fat. I take massive amounts of biodentical estrogen. I run marathons, feel absolutely fantastic. Stop demonizing estrogen!! It's our mama bear hormone, and testosterone is papa bear!! If estrogen is so bad, why are young women, who are pumping out massive amounts of estrogen not riddled with SpongeBob waists, cancer, heart disease like menopausal women??

after living over 46 years of awful stress, I started fasting before it became fashionable because as long as I ate later in the day and for a short period of time, my blood sugar levels were maintained. Since researching and using white kidney bean extract 20:1 strength for blocking carbs, and L'arabinose for blocking sucrose, I am finally losing weight in a healthy way. Once I got rid of my candida, and ate healthy, sugar and carb cravings have gone away. The FDA regards these two as generally safe. Anyone can look them both up on government websites as to their effectiveness and safety. Both are derived from natural ingredients. Why don't you talk about them? No one mentions amylase which L'arabinsoe blocks. These two products would help people tremendously, even a candida cleanse would help. So, what are your thoughts on this?
