Please come to London and train me😄I’ve got all the skills that you mentioned but the instruction is still still not flowing smoothly, and I also struggle to know when and which subject to teach, although the pupils seems to leave the lesson with having learnt something and they enjoy the lessons. I think that it’s a job that you have to practice and build on experience for years to become really good at, it’s not as easy as people think! Love your channel and I get so much out of it, so thank you for the free training 😁

Thank you, it means alot to get warm feedback. Yes once you qualify, you keep learning. I watch a lot of Blaine and Louise Walsh. Their videos have been a huge source of inspiration and knowledge to me. They helped me pass in 2009 and I still watch their content and recommend all my PDI's do the same. Check them out driving-instructor.site/

Hi Howard, I can't wait for your new videos. I'm a PDI and still waiting to have my part 3 rebooked again. I've loved watching your videos and I actually think they have helped me more than my own trainer. I'm not the best at reading material I prefer to be shown how to do it then try it myself. I wasn't a 100% sure how to teach some of the manoeuvres although I knew how to do them myself. I have now watched your videos and actually put them into practice this past couple of weeks and they have really helped so thank you and keep up the good work.

Hi Howard. Your videos have been really inspiring to me. I've been a hairdresser all my life and covid killed the industry. I wanted to change my career and watching your videos loved the idea and said this is for me, I did my part 1 passed 92% and part 2 1st time with 2 minors for use of speed. Did my 40 hours with an ordit trainer and the in car training was tough as I had to do everything and researching how to do it. You have helped me tremendously, thankyou so much for the content you have provided. Ive been on my pink for my 6th week. Finding it hard trying to put it all together, but I reflect everyday saying to myself how did I let that happen and trying to do both things watching the road as well as the pupil , all the responsibility of it being real i sometimes doubt myself , does it just click one day as theres so much to learn in the real world. I feel pressure as we are on a time limit on the pink. Is this a natural process for everyone feeling this way. Any feedback would be great. Best wishes Rick

I think #1 is why I ended up getting my husband through his driving test. His instructor seemed to have a way about her that made her seem a bit closed minded, like it was her way or the highway... On successfully getting my husband through his test (with a lot of help from many sources and a huge amount of patience 😂), as well as supporting other friends with learning to drive I've been considering it as a career. Especially since my kids are getting older and in a couple of years time will both be able to be left at home by themselves for a little while for me to do my own thing 😊

Believe in yourself, you have to tell yourself you're ok and you're doing the best you can. It sounds like you're confidence has taken a bit of a bashing. Talk to your trainer and tell them how you feel. Come up with a plan of what skills you feel you need on. Someone once told me if you can't change people, change people!

You dont need to be a genius or have A levels or a degree. But what all people who pass the ADi have in common is very high levels of mental acuity. They have good memories and can 'read' people. They are hyper alert and have extremely fast reaction times and can read ongoing traffic situations and predict things several steps down the line. Most are highly disciplined people with high levels of personal integrity and have bags of enthusiasm for driving cars. They are independent minded and focused individuals with a strong sense if their own identity. Not many of us have all these qualities which is why the failure rate to becoming a driving instructor is very high, at around 70%. This means only 3 out of 10 people attempting to become one will actually pass.

It's going to be a year until I can train to be an ADI. In preparation I am doing a IAM course. I really enjoy driving and drove the length of France after 1 year on the road and up to the Highlands from the South West the next year. It took me 2 times to past my basic driving test and along time to learn. I know for a fact that I have much room to improve from some situations, where I could have been better. I have been self employed before as a web/ graphic designer/ Digital Marketer for 3 years and in industry for 10. I think that will help me on the business end.

Howard, I have taken a lot from your videos and feel if I was near you I would most definitely ask if you could be my trainer as I'm waiting for another part 3 test date. I'm currently using a range of different learning aids to help keep up my knowledge during this challenging time. These range from videos on KZbin from trainers like yourself to well published and publicised books, which some, explain in detail about the psychological affect of an undeveloped brain (frontal cortex) and how this can have an impact on a young drivers awareness to risk on completing and passing a driving test, especially when they can drive on their own with no instructor beside them. I liked this video you have posted as I feel there is a lot more to a driver instructor that just teaching someone to move and control a car. I think the title of a driving instructor should be changed to 'a driving and life skills coach' because driving isn't just about passing a test. keep up the brilliant work you do and I hope to see more of your videos soon.

I’m on my second attempt do you think that I will get a date by the end of this year?By the way my 2 year period ends on the 20th of December. If I don’t what do you think might happen? Many thanks
@How-2-drive4 жыл бұрын
Hi Abid - thanks for kind words. I spoke to the DVSA yesterday about this. Difficult to say when Part 3 tests will resume as there will be 3 people in-car and therefore a higher risk. Waiting times will differ from area to area. PDI's will be allowed to take one test after their 2 year limit, provided the test was booked before your expiry date, ie 20th December. You can always call the DVSA, they are very helpful and answer the phone quite quickly. Call 0300 200 1122. There is an ADI fast track number I can give you to speak to someone sooner and they work until 6pm. Private message me and I'll give it to you as its not public knowledge.

Hi, love your vids, Couldn't find a hill start tho, A quick question, Doing a hill start with cars coming on the other side so you would also need to use your indicator, They say using the indicator is the last thing you should do, So without getting a fault on test would you find your biting point, let your handbrake off, mirror checks, then indicate. Or would you find your biting point, mirror checks, let your handbrake off, then indicate, or checks, indicate then let handbrake off ? Thanks :-)

Self evaluation is hard in this profession because if you can't see your own mistake, very few people want to spoil the mood by telling you off. Perhaps you say something stupid like.... "You just went through that stop sign.. you know i'm getting tired of driving with east indian students like you that come to our country and never even try to learn the rules, ok. .lets go back and try that again" More then likely, the student will be shocked you said that, and would think your a terrible instructor, but won't tell you directly
