Great advice David. I only found magic 18 months ago by chance. I am obsessed. The joy it brings is totally addictive. I have proudly honoured these 3 rules. My family no not to ask how? any more. When is it right to acknowledge yourself as a magician? In general conversation with a unknown salesperson at a local shop recently, she said oh! your the magician and I felt rather awkward hearing that. Thanks again David.

As someone who started during the pandemic I’m 4 years in and I just started kinda feeling comfortable when people call me that or magic man or mr magic 😅🤷🏾‍♂️🤷🏾‍♂️☺️

I always switch up rule 2 and 3 when performing. I will usually get some form of "How did you do that?" immediately after performing. Then they will say "Do it again!" Which I usually say "Well you know the first rule of magic, right?" and they say "Never tell your secrets" I say back "No, there are no rules in magic... However the second rule is never show the same trick twice to the same person/group. Some people get the fight club reference and others just laugh for fun.

The rules I learned were only the 2 rules. . 1) Never reveal the secret. 2) Never do the same trick twice to the same person.

I mostly agree, but, no, don’t use that p-word. No one is ever, always perfect. Yes, practice til it’s fluid. Practice until you don’t make mistakes or know most all the possible errors and what to do. Too many people give up hobbies they would love (sports, magic, music) because they strive for perfection and don’t get there. “Practice makes permanence.”
